Failure Date: 01/27/2025

I am writing to report a serious incident involving my 2015 Toyota Camry le (VIN: [xxx] ), which I believe is connected to a potential defect or recall issue. 3 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2024

I have the same issue described in a recall notice for my year make and model. My eps light is coming on and I'm losing power to the vehicle. My VIN was not included in the recall. Steering: electric power assist system recall date 2015-03-12 recall no. 15v144000. This is very concerning as it could cause an accident resulting in injuries or death. I would like to have my vehicle checked for the recall.

4 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2024

Intermittent eps warning light illuminates during highway driving with steering wheel lock-up subsequently followed by a reset of certain electrically powered items associated with but not necessarily limited to the following systems: 1. Stability control system warning indication 2. Tpms light 3. Radio power cycles 4. Check engine light. After turning the car off and then back on again these issues clear initially, but will intermittently happen at random durations of time anywhere from an additional 1 to 3 hours of driving. I've been discussing with Toyota customer service, who has known issues with the 2015 Toyota Camry under NHTSA campaign 15v144000, but they are trying to tell me that it only applies to v6 and hybrid 2015 Camry's. I feel that this is also applicable to my vehicle VIN: 4t1bf1fk5fu084707. I feel Toyota is refusing to acknowledge this critical safety issue affecting more 2015 Toyota Camry vehicles. I've never had an issue like this with 5 other previously owned vehicles. When asked if I could pay for the fix myself they informed me that it is not possible without a recall! my Toyota dealer is refusing to fix the issue and Toyota customer service hasn't responded in over 3 weeks to my inquiry.

5 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2023

To the esteemed officials of the us department of transportation, my name is julia mcquade and I am the owner of a 2015 Toyota Camry se. I recently had my car repaired for a completely separate issue and while I addressed a problem with the steering, my mechanic made me aware of a 2015 recall for the electrical power steering electronic control unit. I was provided with information regarding it. While my VIN number was not listed as an automobile affected by this issue, it is evident that this is what's occurring. My days have been spent on the phone with the manufacturer and was told numerous times that my VIN number was not identified in said recall. As a result, I was told not to drive my car due to it being a safety concern, meaning I could lose overall control of the car, and I am now lacking transportation. Please advise on how to proceed, I would like to get this matter resolved in a reasonable time. Sincerely, julia mcquade.

16 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2021

The steering wheel veers hard to the right and is very loose, uncontrollable, and inconsistent. In a situation that would require rapid response, this malfunction would make it dangerous because you lose the precise and responsive steering functions necessary to maneuver accurately. This has happened about six different times and seems random. It will disappear when I turn off the car. The vehicle has not been inspected for the problem. There were no warning lamps or other indicators.

17 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2021

Pulls hard to the left at times at speeds less than 40 mph it is an intermittent problem not caused by tires or wheels - they have been changed.

18 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2021

When traveling down the road, the car veers to the left and I must keep turning the steering wheel to the right to correct the pulling. Usually happens when the engine is cold, but is intermittent. Happens two-three time per month. I once brought to dealer while happening, but they found no issues. They kept the vehicle overnight but couldn’t repeat the problem. A week later it started pulling to the left again. I asked dealer if others had the same problem, they knew of none.

19 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2021

While driving on interstate headlights would automatically cut off , fuses keep blowing, gear shift locks up, and steering wheel locks up while driving.

20 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2021

Recently we have been experiencing a soft steering response, and the vehicle violently veers to the right (at any speed). Weirdly this does not happen all the time but has been sporadic, but more and more frequent. The most recent was on 1/19/21. Surprisingly after the car was turned off, and then on again, the issue disappeared completely. Our biggest fear is if this erratic steering issue were to suddenly start acting up at highway speeds. Our Camry was purchased in Dec'14, and we have noticed there were a recall for some Camrys' of that year. Could our Camry batch have similar issues, however the problems not as apparent as those already recalled? please investigate as steering issues seem to be the top problem for the 2015 Camry on carproblemzoo. Com, and many people are also noting the same defect but their car's VIN is not on any recall list. This coincidence seem quite high especially for a year with steering problem recalls, but somehow only covering certain vins.

21 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2021

The contact owns a 2015 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle would pull to the left or right making it difficult to steer the vehicle. The failure was intermittent. The contact had taken the vehicle to fallon Ford-Toyota (1351 w williams Ave, fallon, nv 89406; (775) 423-2171) who informed the contact that due to not being able to duplicate the failure, they were unable to diagnose the failure. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 15v144000 (steering) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included. The approximate failure mileage was 83,200.

22 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2020

Normal steering while driving at 40 mph, then all of a sudden steering goes soft and veers to the right. Checked air pressure reporting normal. Would happen intermittent during the forty minute drive. Thought it was strange.

23 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2020

Car sporadically pulls to the left whether or not I am turning. After ignition is turned off and then car started, car drives normally. This has occurred 5 or 6 times within the last month. I understand there is a recall on this for an electronic steering component, but my VIN is not included in this recall. This is also stated by many other owners online. .

24 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2020

The wheel starts pulling right and then goes back to normal. Also very hard to turn with a popping noise then went back to normal. The problem persists more often and only wants to turn right. It also does it on main streets highway etc off and on seems dangerous.

25 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2020

Vehicle will abruptly steer to the left or right while in motion. Doesn't matter if on a city street or highway. Turning the vehicle off will sometimes correct the issue. Vehicle only has 66k miles.

26 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2020

When driving down the road the vehicle starts turning to the left or right , every so often. Does not happen every trip ,but enough to realize there is a problem.

27 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2020

As I drive down a road mostly when car is first started, the steering goes very erratic. It gets a wide range of movement and feels as if I am losing control. This is happening more often as I drive it. My husband looked it up and there had been some recalls for steering in the 2015 Camry, but, no recall for my car when I put in my VIN #.

28 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2020

The steering wheel drive is not safe on the highway. . . . Hard steering control. . . Pull tires on the highway. . Not safe.

29 Steering problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2020

When driving my wheel will randomly start veering to the left or right. The wheel also becomes much looser and is harder to control. This can happen while my car is stationary or while in motion. It happens randomly.

30 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2020

The steering becomes unresponsive for a period of time, sometimes pulls one way other times the other way. Then it works fine, this has been happening for several days and is very unpredictable and dangerous when you control of your steering ability. It always happens when in motion, and it's happened both on city streets and highway going at 20 mph and when on highway it seemed to correct it self at 50-60 mph??.

31 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2020

Car pulls strongly to the left. Mechanic said suspension is good, must be electric steering. Tires are good. Car was in motion on a city street. The problem has happened several times. Nhtsa campaign # 15v144000.

32 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2020

I was driving my vehicle and suddenly I completely loss power steering control. I nearly crashed! my steering became very difficult to manage while it made an awful "grinding" noise when I attempted to steer the vehicle. I was driving on los angeles avenue (118 hwy) in moorpark, CA. I do not recall if I was turning; but I recall I was at a stop light, then took off and suddenly loss power steering. I googled this issue and noticed that there was a recall for my exact problem and make/model/year of my car (2015 Toyota Camry se 2. 5l at). I called the dealership and they are claiming there is no recall and won't honor my information. The exact recall # = 15v144000. Please help, I am scared to drive my car and don't have over $2000+ to fix according to simi valley Toyota dealership. Rebecca ehrhardt 805. 256. 0440. Thank you in advance for all your support!.

33 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2020

Car pulls sharply to the right or left after starting up and driving. If I stop and turn of the ignition and restart the car it will run properly. This seems to happen if I park the car and have the wheels turned to the right or left as when you are on a hill. I have come close to having an accident several times until I realized I could correct the pulling by stopping and restarting the vehicle with the wheels pointing straight. The 2015 Camry has a recall on the steering issue (#15v144000) but Toyota manufacturer states that my VIN # isn't covered under that recall. I have seen numerous complaints (50+) on line and with bluebook on the same issue. I don't see any investigation on this issue on the NHTSA website. Maybe the recall needs to be expanded. If I pay Toyota to fix the issue and a recall is issued is Toyota required to reimburse me? the problem started sporadically in March 2020 but more often now. With covid-19 I haven't been driving regularly.

34 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2020

My mother was in an accident that cost her life. The black box on the car says that there was a malfunction in the power steering that caused the car to pull sharply to the left. This caused her to hit a concrete median at highway speeds where her airbag failed to deploy. Her spine broke in 4 places and suffered 7 broken ribs.

35 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2020

Car pulls sharply to the right right after starting up and driving. If I turn off ignition and restart it will run properly. It occurs around 30 percent of the time.
