general problems of the 2015 Toyota Camry - part 1

I have the same issue described in a recall notice for my year make and model. My eps light is coming on and I'm losing power to the vehicle. My VIN was not included in the recall. Steering: electric power assist system recall date 2015-03-12 recall no. 15v144000. This is very concerning as it could cause an accident resulting in injuries or death. I would like to have my vehicle checked for the recall.

Intermittent eps warning light illuminates during highway driving with steering wheel lock-up subsequently followed by a reset of certain electrically powered items associated with but not necessarily limited to the following systems: 1. Stability control system warning indication 2. Tpms light 3. Radio power cycles 4. Check engine light. After turning the car off and then back on again these issues clear initially, but will intermittently happen at random durations of time anywhere from an additional 1 to 3 hours of driving. I've been discussing with Toyota customer service, who has known issues with the 2015 Toyota Camry under NHTSA campaign 15v144000, but they are trying to tell me that it only applies to v6 and hybrid 2015 Camry's. I feel that this is also applicable to my vehicle VIN: 4t1bf1fk5fu084707. I feel Toyota is refusing to acknowledge this critical safety issue affecting more 2015 Toyota Camry vehicles. I've never had an issue like this with 5 other previously owned vehicles. When asked if I could pay for the fix myself they informed me that it is not possible without a recall! my Toyota dealer is refusing to fix the issue and Toyota customer service hasn't responded in over 3 weeks to my inquiry.

I recently had my car repaired for a completely separate issue and while I addressed a problem with the steering, my mechanic made me aware of a 2015 recall for the electrical power steering electronic control unit. I was provided with information regarding it. While my VIN number was not listed as an automobile affected by this issue, it is evident that this is what's occurring. My days have been spent on the phone with the manufacturer and was told numerous times that my VIN number was not identified in said recall. As a result, I was told not to drive my car due to it being a safety concern, meaning I could lose overall control of the car, and I am now lacking transportation. The steering is loose and rattles. Difficulty with car control over 40 mph. Mechanic said they didn't see a safety issue but there is a broken part in the steering mechanism. No warning lights.

Over this past year my power steering light flickered on and off randomly and my radio/lights will turn off completely while driving. Over the last 30 days it has been difficult to turn my car , especially in slow or tight turns and the car make a loud humming/grinding sound in turns.

When the battery voltage is low, the power steering is loose. It becomes difficult to steer.

The steering wheel veers hard to the right and is very loose, uncontrollable, and inconsistent. In a situation that would require rapid response, this malfunction would make it dangerous because you lose the precise and responsive steering functions necessary to maneuver accurately. This has happened about six different times and seems random. It will disappear when I turn off the car. The vehicle has not been inspected for the problem. There were no warning lamps or other indicators.

Pulls hard to the left at times at speeds less than 40 mph it is an intermittent problem not caused by tires or wheels - they have been changed.

When traveling down the road, the car veers to the left and I must keep turning the steering wheel to the right to correct the pulling. Usually happens when the engine is cold, but is intermittent. Happens two-three time per month. I once brought to dealer while happening, but they found no issues. They kept the vehicle overnight but couldn’t repeat the problem. While driving on interstate headlights would automatically cut off , fuses keep blowing, gear shift locks up, and steering wheel locks up while driving.

Recently we have been experiencing a soft steering response, and the vehicle violently veers to the right (at any speed). Normal steering while driving at 40 mph, then all of a sudden steering goes soft and veers to the right. Checked air pressure reporting normal. Would happen intermittent during the forty minute drive. Thought it was strange.

When driving my wheel will randomly start veering to the left or right. The wheel also becomes much looser and is harder to control. This can happen while my car is stationary or while in motion. It happens randomly.

I was driving my vehicle and suddenly I completely loss power steering control. Car pulls sharply to the right or left after starting up and driving. If I stop and turn of the ignition and restart the car it will run properly. This seems to happen if I park the car and have the wheels turned to the right or left as when you are on a hill. I have come close to having an accident several times until I realized I could correct the pulling by stopping and restarting the vehicle with the wheels pointing straight. The 2015 Camry has a recall on the steering issue (#15v144000) but Toyota manufacturer states that my VIN # isn't covered under that recall. I have seen numerous complaints (50+) on line and with bluebook on the same issue. I don't see any investigation on this issue on the NHTSA website. Maybe the recall needs to be expanded. If I pay Toyota to fix the issue and a recall is issued is Toyota required to reimburse me? the problem started sporadically in March 2020 but more often now. With covid-19 I haven't been driving regularly.

My mother was in an accident that cost her life. The black box on the car says that there was a malfunction in the power steering that caused the car to pull sharply to the left. This caused her to hit a concrete median at highway speeds where her airbag failed to deploy. Her spine broke in 4 places and suffered 7 broken ribs.
