I was able to fix the issue of the vehicle not responding well to bursts of speed, simply turn off eco mode, and refill vehicle with better gas (do not use the cheapest tier of gas available at the gas station, go the next tier up from that). I have owned this vehicle for 3 years now with under 13,800 mi at time of writing. There are steering issues when traveling at high speeds. I share this vehicle with other individuals and all of them complain of the vehicle shaking severely when traveling at high speeds. Steering wheel frequently seems to "lock" in place when driving curves. The recall that is currently in place, 20v682, has been effective since late October 2020 and as of now there is no remedy available. I spoke to a Toyota rep early February and they were anticipating a remedy to be available by the end of the month but there is no remedy available. Tried calling again and this time they were unable to give me an exact date for the remedy to be ready. Meanwhile I am reading more and more complaints of other drivers with the same vehicle stalling while in motion, endangering not just their own lives but the lives of other drivers and passengers as well. The last thing I want is for me or my own family members to be in a severe accident and possibly lose our lives. It is irresponsible for Toyota to keep us all waiting for such a long time for a remedy. There seem to be more and more recalls affecting all Toyota branded vehicles due to poor qc. If they could only take the time to properly test all products before release them to the public, we would not have to drive in our vehicles feeling on edge and uncomfortable all the time. If these recalls keep coming I am seriously considering selling the vehicle once my payments are done in 3 years, and consider looking elsewhere for brands who value safety instead of adding more tech gadgets to hike up prices.
The car is equipped with a low-pressure fuel pump which may stop operating which could result in the engine running rough and the vehicle to stall, thereby increasing the risk of a crash during driving. Toyota has identified this problem as early as January 2020 and notified me in writing in October 2020, but as of today (Feb 21, 2021), it has not fixed the problem. I have not experienced the stalling problem, but I am worried that this could happen anytime while I am driving especially at high speed in the freeway. I am writing to complain because when I contacted Toyota on Feb 20, 2021, it has not provided a remedy or a fix to the problem, and it has been a year since it first identified the problem.
There has been an open recall on my car for months and Toyota has not came up with any type of remedy to fix this issue. the subject vehicles are equipped with a low-pressure fuel pump which may stop operating. If this were to occur, warning lights and messages may be displayed on the instrument panel, and the engine may run rough. This may result in a vehicle stall, and the vehicle may be unable to be restarted. If a vehicle stall occurs while driving at higher speeds, this could increase the risk of a crash. sounds pretty dangerous and this is the car I travel with my kids in, I am extremely disappointed in Toyota brcause this was once listed as the safest car on the road.
Car keeps stalling while getting on the gas and sometimes between gear's.
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while accelerating, the vehicle jerked and stalled with the rpm fluctuating. The cause of the failure was not determined. East coast Toyota located at 181 broad st, carlstadt, NJ 07072, (201)438-5659, was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,000.
My steering has become very stiff. Like it is hesitating when I make turns as if my power steering fluid is low but it is electrical. My car also stalls when I accelerate the gas. Mentioned it to dealer when first got the vehicle in 2018 and they said it was just because of the type of engine that was in it. Steering happens when taking off, slowing down, and making any kind of turn or lane change. Engine hesitates when I accelerate. Taking to the dealership to have issue checked out.
The car shudders and appears to almost stall when in motion. This happens randomly. It happened from the very first year it was driven. Once it actually stalled at an intersection just as the traffic light turned green and I pulled forward. I had not braked. This car has never been in an accident.
My car will randomly stall after driving several hours on the freeway and sometimes will not start up. I am concerned that it will stall while driving on the freeway leading to a crash. My car is not involved under Toyota's fuel pump recall but I have verified that my fuel pressure goes to near 0 psi when the condition happens (former Toyota technician) and the symptoms are exactly the same as outlined in the recall. I have contacted two Toyota technicians from my local dealer and said they would not be able to duplicate it due to having to drive so long and as a result they would not be able to provide a fix for me. I would be tempted to purchase a new fuel pump, however if Toyota doesn't know about this issue on my car, the part will not be updated and will likely to have the same result.
When driving my vehicle I get a stalled response when pressing on the gas and then it jerks forward. This can be very dangerous when driving on the streets because there is a lot if stop and go movements. It usually happens when I come to a complete stop at a stop light or stop sign, even when stopping to turn down a street. I'm not sure why the vehicle does this, I just bought it so it should still be in very good shape. I'm reporting this because it can be a potential hazard for a car crash. Please have Toyota fix this problem in their 2018 Toyota Camry se.
1. On entering freeway, car did not respond to accelerator, & seemed to lose power momentarily. Then seemed to engage, accelerating. 2. On freeway, gas pedal became spongy, car coasted for a couple hundred feet, then pedal engaged, car accelerated. Occurred three, 3, times, different trips. 3. On turning right, on city street, engine started to run rough as tho it would stall. Worked itself out and continued w/o further trouble. 4. On two occasions, engine ran roughly when turning it on in front of the house. Weather was warm, not a factor. Ran smoothly after a block. Gas pedal again felt spongy while car ran rough. Dealer has stated that (1) "try using name brand gas" (tried; no change), (2) for probs 1 & 2 above, "it must be the new transmission. " now received fuel pump recall notice, but Toyota has "no remedy available"?! this is unsafe - pease help!!.
8 speed transmission the transmission performs poorly, regularly stalling between shifts, causing a lag in acceleration. It can't seem to pick a gear, leaving the vehicle stalled briefly, while the accelerator is depressed. Once, at a large intersection, in a high traffic area, from a stop, I attempted a right turn. The car stalled, while I depressed the accelerator, causing a mild panic, as I was confronted with an 18 wheeler attempting to turn into my lane. The car eventually accelerated, getting me out of the way, in a harried and frustrated huff at the poor performance of this new car. The transmission does not mis-perform upon every single shift of the gears, but there will be mis-performance occurring on every single trip taken in the car.
Takata recall: when accelerating and deaccelerating the vehicle I noticed the transmission shifts really rough and makes the car jerky like it's going to stall out. Do not feel safe at all with my brand new car driving this way. I've had the car for 7 months and want to get rid of it as soon as possible for this rough ride experience!.
Engine is very loud, acceleration fine one minute and the next minute I try to accelerate it doesn't even want to go anywhere I consider this a very serious issue being that I try to accelerate out into traffic. And it wants to stall and loses acceleration for 1 or 2 seconds. Which is very dangerous being that I'm stuck there and oncoming traffic for that. Of time and then I have to step on it way way more than what I should have to get out of harm's way. These incidents take place on the city streets not the highway. Only in the beginning of accelerating.
When slowly accelerating from about 20 miles per hour to about 40 miles per hour and around 2500 revolution per minute, the engine and/or transmission shakes and/or stall.
Tl the contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration, even when the accelerator pedal was not depressed. There was also a lack of acceleration when attempting to merge, abnormal shifting, and the vehicle stalled. In addition, the odor of anti-freeze filled up the cabin. The failures occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to Toyota grand rapids (located at 2555 28th st se, grand rapids, mi) where the failures were confirmed, but could not be remedied. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 250.
