Failure Date: 02/12/2021

An emergency message came on telling me my brakes were losing power band I needed to pull over to a safe area. I was on the freeway! I could not push down. I had to use the parking break and go into a lower gear to get to the shoulder then my car came to a stop in the crosswalk of the freeway exit. Vacuum pump stopped working. Went in to replace it and the backside is decentigrated into the motor. Needs camshaft assembly/exhaust replaced, investigate the motor to look for pieces so they don't damage the motor, no gear at the end of the vacuum pump, it has gone down not the motor.

Vehicle stall while on the 75 freeeway when I was going 70 mph. No break lights apparear while the vehicle was stopping causing me to almost crash with other vehicles on the freeway. This is the 3rd time this has happened to me. I have reported the issue several times to Toyota customer service and the dealership in cobb county georgia but nothing is been done. I think it either the pistol or the fuel pump. Toyota case # 2009280896 & Toyota case #2 -2009281300.

While driving the car refused to stop. It was very hard to press the brake, and it would not stop. Initially it would not go in park or neutral. After circling the parking children in fear, it went in park and came to an abrupt stop. Apon taking it to a mechanic I was told I need to replace the brake vacuum pump.

Failure Date: 10/16/2020

Tried starting vehicle in the morning, temp was about 70 degrees, car has the push to start button. Battery has been replaced with an aftermarket yellow top deep cycle battery about 2 months ago. When attempting to start, car acted as if the battery was very low it turned over, dash went black for about 3 seconds and car started very forcefully. Car had been parked under carport for about 16 hours. The day before car was in the same conditions and started right up no problems.

Failure Date: 09/27/2020

On September 29th 2020 at 7:20pm est the 2018 Toyota Camry did not wanted to start even after pushing the break and start button several times. After a few minutes it finally turned on and the car started to shake. The engine also had a funny rattling noise and a master light came on my dashboard. After putting the car in reverse the back camera screen also had a master light on with rcd off signal. After driving for a about 12 minutes at approximately 40 mph the car stalled and I almost got into an accident. I have owned this vehicle for less than one year and all maintenance has been done accordingly to schedule. I even had to pay Toyota for a full diagnostic check up on July 08th 2020. I am very concerned for my family's safety and others around me when I am driving this vehicle.

42 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2020

The driver door will not unlock at times the key will not work and the only way to unlock is by going through the passenger side and unlocking the driver door. Also numerous occasions where the car has lost complete power and you have to pull over turn it off and turn it back on.

43 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2020

Vehicle should have automatic emergency braking safety feature when vehicle is driving in “reverse”. I made a very careless and dangerous mistake because I was in a rush and placed my vehicle in “reverse” instead of “park”, immediately after parking on the street in front of my friend’s house. Not realizing the vehicle was in reverse, I quickly opened the driver’s side door and placed my left foot on the street as I was getting out. Suddenly, the moving vehicle and opened driver’s side door knocked me down on the street and continued to drive in reverse crushing my body. The vehicle should have stopped the moment it hit something or before it hit something. Instead, the vehicle smashed me against the pavement, rolled right over me, and then continued in reverse at a rapid speed. At the same time, my friend was getting out of the front passenger side and was almost pinned against a telephone pole that the opened passenger side door hit, but thankfully she got out of the way just in time. The car, however, continued running in reverse. Another friend had to run down the street and literally jump in the driver’s side to quickly place his foot on the brakes. I was still laying injured on the street in agony, and sustained multiple injuries.

My cluster lens is broken out of nowhere. My car wasn't hit or anything. It was just sitting in my garage.

I have 2018 Toyota Camry and this is the very first time that I have had a problem with my gas tank latch not opening up. I reported this to dick dyer Toyota and they want to charge me for this issue. I don't know what else to do, but if I'm driving by myself and I need gas I will not be able to open my gas tank to this issue. Please help!!!.

46 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2020

The car shudders and appears to almost stall when in motion. This happens randomly. It happened from the very first year it was driven. Once it actually stalled at an intersection just as the traffic light turned green and I pulled forward. I had not braked. This car has never been in an accident.

Failure Date: 01/06/2020

I was so excited about this car, until I got this car. We have had nothing but problems since signing out contract. The under shield of the car is falling/dropping which is constantly breaking off and falling out behind us which is potentially dangerous to others as well. Makes the whole car shake like crazy when driving higher speeds. I am constantly having to get down on the ground in mid winter and try to dig the snow, slush and ice out from inbetween the shield and the car itself. I cant use tools or sharp objects because I dont know if there is breakable stuff so I just use bare hands and hope for the best. Ridiculous when I have serve carpel tunnel and its in negative with windchill and I run inside ugly crying because my hands hurting. . The clips that whole the car together in general keep coming undone. I can only clip a few back together as I don't have the strength for the rest. Scared the bumper might fall off at a higher speed with 2 minor children in the car. Then the felt on the inside around the tires likes to peel away and when the clip is also undone it bends and mends the underbody outside trim and then while driving it catches on my back tire. Not only at higher speeds but all the time.

In deep white sands desert car keys locked inside the trunk. After opting for the passenger side door using the hanger anchor method whole car computerized system went down and there is no way to open then trunk from inside the car. 2018 Camry has no lever any pull-down seats to open the trunk. Park ranger took me to the nearest town Toyota dealership(desert sun Toyota,3333 n white sands blvd, alamogordo, nm 88310), the dealership was not having the ability to cut the new laser key they were not even aware 2018 you can't open the trunk by a lever or pulling down seats. It was cold and dark and family with kids sitting in the dunes alone while I was working with Toyota dealership for a new keys. After doing all brainstorming the last solution came to me was make a hole behind number plate to open the trunk latch. A good man agreed to come to the park and open the trunk by drilling the hole. I was able to make my family safe. After reaching dallas (my home) I sent an email to Toyota north America ceo james about the whole incident and his office called me after the email but not accepting this as a defect and denied to help me to fix my holey car. The 6 hrs I spent with family to just open the trunk is a serious defect in the 2018 Camry. This is very common to lose keys while taking stuff out of the trunk. If the happens on nowhere lands and no cell phone signals then it is dangerous.

The passenger side dashboard where the airbag deploys, you can visibly see the lines and it is slightly raised in the middle. I've never own a vehicle, especially a new car that you could visibly see the exact lines where the airbag deploys. I wouldn't be concerned, but I know if this exact problem on another Camry near me.

50 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2019

The fuel door release mechanical system has not been working since the car was purchased. The fuel door release mechanical system has very flimsy parts. I believe that this model and year also had a recall on the fuel pump because of a flimsy part as well.

51 Equipment problem

The very first and serious problem with this 2018 Camry le is its gas pedal . It is very stiff and hard to press the gas pedal . Due to that it gets so hard to give gas power to engine and due to that car give jerks to pick up the acceleration and start jerking and secondly due to that steering wheel also get really tight and also it makes the shifting of the gear of transmission get stuck. Gas pedal need to be soft, when you press the pedal to give the race or acceleration to car for to change gears automatically from transmission. It is very serious hazard when the gas pedal get stuck and stay stiff very hard.

52 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2019

When driving theres a tightness in the steering wheel, went to the Toyota dealer to find out whats is wrong in my car and saying that there is internal mechanical failure in the car that they cannot figure it out , the car was only 2 years old and still low mileage in the car and I never experience that kind of issues before. Just wondering its a newer car and already have issues. Toyota last long thats why I choosed to buy it.

53 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2019

The car jerks when I do not accelerate, while making a turn, after stoppijng at a red light or a stop sign.

54 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2019

Defective transmission: 1: car hesitates to speed up from a full stop or while in motion. 2: rpm's go over 3000 before car reacts (2-3 seconds delay) , dangerous specially when taking curves or merging into traffic (highways, fast traffic roads). 3: I feel a "hiccup" like movement while in motion (sometimes). 4: car hesitates to shift or shifts whit excessive power. 5: downshifts and loss of acceleration (it happens erratically) 6: I heard a soft metal-to-metal "knock" sound when I lift my foot from gas pedal while in motion. Until now this are the symptoms I'm experiencing with my 2018 Camry 4-cyl, certainly something I wasn't expecting from a Toyota product. The unpredictable behavior of this car is dangerous, I never know when is going to response as it should do or when I'll have to floor it so it can rev up and finally move.

55 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/29/2019

This is a sw bug in the map navigation setup that is dangerous. This Camry has a freeway map mode setup where the screen can be set for 50% map + 50% freeway exits. The mode can also be setup for 100% map if that is preferred. This setting can only be set in the context of driving on the freeway. The default setting is the 50-50 map mode. The real problem is that the setting alway reverts back to the default setting through turning the car off and on. The setting does not get stored in non-volatile memory. The driver must reset the map-mode every time, and they must do it while driving at freeway speeds. This is dangerious!.

56 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2019

8 speed transmission the transmission performs poorly, regularly stalling between shifts, causing a lag in acceleration. It can't seem to pick a gear, leaving the vehicle stalled briefly, while the accelerator is depressed. Once, at a large intersection, in a high traffic area, from a stop, I attempted a right turn. The car stalled, while I depressed the accelerator, causing a mild panic, as I was confronted with an 18 wheeler attempting to turn into my lane. The car eventually accelerated, getting me out of the way, in a harried and frustrated huff at the poor performance of this new car. The transmission does not mis-perform upon every single shift of the gears, but there will be mis-performance occurring on every single trip taken in the car.

57 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2019

Blindspot not working on passenger side. I took my car to Toyota in for service today. I informed them about this issue. They informed me that they cannot duplicate this issue. I sent them pictures of the blind spot coming on at random time or not coming on at all. The photo attached was me driving down a two lane road and it coming on, which shouldn't be happening at all. I even have a 15 second video of me passing an 18 wheeler. As I passed this vehicle on my right the warning light never came on. The dealer again told me if it doesn't happen to them then they can't replace this under warranty. This car was bought brand new and now has 19,650 miles.

58 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2019

Vehicle was involved in a rear-end collision. Vehicle did not brake before impact manually neither did the brake assist activate. There were no signs of braking assist malfunctioning. Vehicle caught fire upon impact and not available for inspection. Vehicle given to insurance company and settled. Injury to driver of vehicle in question. Driver of vehicle hit and went to er by ambulance. There is a report filed of accident.

On December 6, 2018, I purchased a 2018 Camry with 65 miles. I am writing to you regarding my accelerator pedal problem. This letter also documents the second incident with the accelerator pedal. The first incident occurred in a parking lot and left me stranded for 4 hours and then without a car for a day. The second incident occurred while I was making a right turn in traffic and the car issued a master warning light, a warning buzzer, and a message on the multi-information display that quickly disappeared. Something is wrong with the accelerator control system or pedal itself. This is a safety issue. The following information is provided to help diagnose and fix the problem. On the fourth incident, I have a video that clearly shows there is an accelerator problem. In three of the four incidents, I was backing up in "r" and noticed there was no accelerator pedal, placed car in "d" and still no accelerator pedal than it would just go. If the car is unable to accelerate either in a turn or in any situation, than an accident or death could occur. Currently car is at a Toyota dealer. Toyota did nothing on the first two visits, as there were "no codes" and would do nothing unless a code was present. I provided them with a video of the fourth incident and it seems they might be a bit more interested.

60 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2018

I have two problem with my new car: 1) I have a moldy odor coming from out ac system within a few months of purchasing the new car, and when I brought it to the dealer service center, I was notified that I could flush the ac system and install a charcoal cabin filter, but there is no permanent solution to fixing the odor coming from the car. 2) my car is experiencing acceleration problems when I'm trying to speed up to change lines on a freeway or merging onto a freeway and need to accelerate to get up to speed. When I press the gas, my engine revs but doesn't respond for 3-5 seconds. This becomes really dangerous as I cannot predict when it happens and it's usually occurs when I'm speeding up to merge or change lanes.

61 Equipment problem

This is my third Toyota car that I buy as a brand new car and I was so excited about grtting a 2018 Camry se but am very disspoint it with this situation man so this is whats happening to the car the vehicle has issues with the transmission there are times when the car can't seem to decide what gear to pick and when to engage it resulting in a second or two of dead acceleration once the vehicle decides what to do, it sends an excessive amount of power to the wheels with unintended acceleration rates. This has been an issue since I bought the car so please let me know what we can do because I dont like how this brand new transmission works. 2. The second pronlem is that that car start shaking when am going over 70 miles per hour on the highway and I know exactly that is not with balance and not alighnmrnt because idont feel the steering wheel shaking I fell the shaking is comming from the engine I can guaranteed u that is coming from there because when I stop accelareting it goes away but once I accelerate again starts that vibration again so Toyota needs to be more specific and making sure that they're customer are 100%% happy with their car and stop testing this brand news platform with the people money because I can telk u that at least 40 percent of the people they are regreting of buying this car just because this kinda of problem so I wish theres a remedy tgat Toyota it might xonsidering to fix this inds of problem which I hate about it st all.

62 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2018

I purchased this car 08/2018 we are now in 10/2018 I have 3k miles on it and it rides rough, sounds like an old car, loud rattly, it just keeps getting worst taking the car today to Toyota bennett in allentown PA today because when making complete stops at a light it jumps forward, the transmission jerks, transmission seems confused it takes a long time to pick up for example when entering a highway and trying to catch up to speed takes long, at a stop light almost got rear ended a few times cause the car just wont move quick enough.

63 Equipment problem

This is the second windshield I have had since buying my car in late March 2018. Each time they repair shop says the windshield is so thin. As I am sitting waiting on my repair. Two other people with 2018 Toyota Camry's also comes in for their 2nd windshield. It seems to be a severe glitch in the make of these windshields and this is a potentially hazardous situation. Please evaluate this immediately.

1. Every time I back out of my driveway my brakes squeak very loudly. 2. The transmission never knows what gear to be in while driving and will clunk in and out of gear while in motion. 3. Has a terrible burning smell of plastic and oil like when the car engine is hot. 4. Drive side cabin has a constant antifreeze smell while running the a/c 5. The engine has a horrible load knocking noise while running. It sounds like a very old car. 6. I don't know what's wrong with the acceleration of the car or if it was designed this way but the 3-5 sec delay is dangerous I have complained about each one of these items to the Toyota dealer in gastonia nc at the 5 mile, 10mile and 15mile service and each time the dealer just tells me its fine and that's normal.

66 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2018

Car front grill design is so poor that damage caused by normal road debris already punctured my ac condense leaking freon / ac coolant to release in to environment /harming environment as well as increasing repair cost. 2 times in last 6 months I have relapsed my front ac condenser due to stick of wood or pebble going through front grill easily and puncturing.

67 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2018

Shortly after purchase, driver side door window/lock/mirror control panel popped-out easily, when window control up was activated. Fortunately, I was stationary at the time, so I wasn't driving and startled/distracted by it (I. E. , potential safety issue). Appears to be a retainer clip issue. I reported it to local Toyota dealership, who couldn't fix it, so I shimmed the clip, and haven't had an issue, since, though it may not be easy to extract, should the need arise! no such issue with passenger side control panel. Uploaded images extracted from mov video, should you wish to review it, available upon request via e-mail (I'd have to upload it to my website, because it's a huge file).

68 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2018

Collision detection engages when no one close to front of vehicle at high speed. Our 2018 Camry engaged the collision detection at about 65 mph on I-85 in atlanta and about wrecked us. No one was even close to the front the vehicle or stopping or stopped and it locked the brakes up solid for like 5-10 seconds. The vehicles behind us almost rear ended us from it engaging without warning. It scared the living piss out my wife and I. We wont even drive it on the interstate any more or closely follow someone. The vehicle needs fixed before someone gets killed in it. I'm just reporting it now because I been given this website by a lawyer.

69 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2018

While driving my 2018 Toyota Camry on may 15, 2018, my dash displayed a message of "pre-collision system malfunction" as well as a warning light, a light depicting two vehicles colliding and the message "visit your dealer". I understand Toyota had a recall on 2015 model Toyotas for this exact issue however, has anyone else experienced this with their 2018 Toyotas or has a recall been released for this issue? this vehicle is 6 months old, purchasing it in October last year, and I have already had one recall for the fuel delivery system and now the pre-collision system has apparently malfunctioned. My Toyota dealer refuses to issue me a loaner vehicle so I do not have to continuously take off of work to bring the vehicle into have it diagnosed, which they have requested I allow an hour and a half to conduct. I purchased a new vehicle under warranty so I would not have the problems a used car could create however I am currently regretting the decision of purchasing a Toyota as it will now have been in the shop twice for issues beyond my doing or control but continues to create an inconvenience to me financially as it requires me to take time off work for diagnostics and repairs.

70 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2018

I was driving my car on a secondary road and warning lights started going off at the same time(abs, precollision warning, engine light, etc. ) my husband drove it to the local Toyota dealership. The Toyota service rep advises me that the engine wires have been chewed by rodents. He also advises me that this is not a Toyota problem so my bumper to bumper warranty would not cover it. He advised my auto insurance would have to pay for it. The problem is a Toyota problem. They have started using plant-based material to cover the wiring which attracts rodents. There is a class action lawsuit, but not for my model of car. Also, this is going to get someone killed, because you can't hardly keep the car on the road after it happens. I don't have any paperwork yet, because my car is still at the dealership.
