Total transmission failed putting our safety at risk on a busy highway. Problem has been taken care of by an independant service center. The car would not switch gears on acceleration to merge with traffic on the interstate and made a horrible noise and check engine light came on. $6000 later and week without a car, it is fixed. Our previous Toyotas never gave us as many problems as this model. We are so disappointed and regret our purchase. Friends say " buy a Toyota. . . They last forever. . . Not !!" this is one of the worst models ever. A 5 yr old car with low mileage should not have a transmission blow. Transmission specialist told us many are putting in complaints of the same situation with same model but not enough yet to cause a recall. . . It needs to be recalled. Makes me reconsider ever purchasing a Toyota again.
Known transmission issues, causing the call to jerk and slow down during driving. Very dangerous issue due to 2018-2019 direct shift 8 at transmissions.
I have a code on my car that states " malfunction in the electronic control of the engine, throttle or automatic transmission has been detected". The car stalled while crossing hwy 231 in pike county, alabama and left me powerless in oncoming traffic that was moving at 80+ miles per hour. It finally grabbed some power to let me finish crossing but it was a very close call. I had to have the tires replaced, since that time the tire pressure sensors no longer work. Which to me is unbelievable. The cost for that is $360. 00 or probably more from the dealer.
It started happening in the past month. We stopped at a gas station to get gas and after filling up the car doesn't want to start. It does start eventually after 4-5 tries. Then it's ok for a while. On 8/17 it did the same thing except once we put it in park the light engine came on. I cleared the codes and drove it again about 200 miles stopped to get gas and it happened again. I took it to the dealer and they said it might be the battery. I put a new battery and it seemed to be fine until the next day, 8/21. I stopped to get gas and after I filled up it would not start again, except this time the light engine did not turn on. The dealer is not sure what it is. From doing research there was a fuel pump recall for 2018-2020 Camrys although my car was not included in it, from looking at the symptoms I have come to the conclusion that it might be a faulty fuel pump.
Been having an issue for months now and the dealership was absolutely no help.
P268115 engine coolant bypass valve I know my daughter received a letter from Toyota to her 2018 Camry to fix the same issue. But I checked and to my 2019. I have the same issue p268115 in my Toyota Camry 2019.
2019 Camry --> Toyota has customer support program 24te04 notification for problem with bad flow shut off valve. Problems are engine maintenance light and a/c not functioning properly. This vehicle was purchased new and currently has 3350 miles. The a/c has not functioned properly since purchased. Bredeman Toyota in park ridge, IL contacted and appt. Scheduled for 4/12/25. The service dept. Advised a diagnostic fee of $170. 000 would be charge. Toyota contacted about this since the vehicle should be under recall for this problem that could cause the vehicle to overheat. Case #[xxx] provided. I rec'd a call back 4/04/25 from dealership serv. Mgr. Mike cooper. Diagnostic charge would not be waived even though I was told they have replaced this part on numerous vehicles for the past three (3) years. I don't understand why Toyota hasn't been told to recall for this problem. Please consider taking this action against the mfg. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the transaxle (transmission) failed on my 2019 Toyota Camry, causing a complete loss of power while driving. This is part of the power train system. The vehicle is currently at Toyota of north austin for inspection and repair. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? while driving, my car suddenly lost power and stalled in the middle of an intersection. I was unable to pull over, leaving my vehicle stranded in traffic. Other cars almost hit me, creating a major safety hazard. I was panicked and scared, and the failure could have resulted in a serious accident. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes. Toyota of north austin diagnosed the issue and confirmed a transmission (transaxle) failure, recommending a full replacement. Toyota has refused goodwill assistance, leaving me with an expensive repair bill. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? the vehicle has been inspected by Toyota of north austin, and they confirmed the transmission failure. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? yes. Shortly before the failure, the check engine light came on. However, there were no other warning signs or messages indicating an immediate issue. The vehicle suddenly lost power while driving. The only related maintenance was a transmission fluid change at Toyota of north austin on 11/22/24, but there were no immediate signs of failure at that time.
My transmission is no longer working and confirmed by the dealership and mechanic shop. My Camry has 60,900 miles when the transmission broke.
My 2019 Toyota Camry se experienced a transmission failure due to slipping gears. The issue became apparent when the car started hesitating during acceleration, with noticeable jerking and a lack of smooth shifting between gears. Despite routine maintenance, the transmission’s performance progressively worsened, with the slipping becoming more frequent and severe. Now I'm unable to drive my car anymore.
Transmission went out at 100,000 miles.
The check engine light came on first then as I was driving a couple days later my car begin to run hot and make a loud noise under the hood. The engine coolant light came with stop the vehicle. The meter reached the hot line. The car begin to lose power. I pulled over and checked under my hood it appears as though my coolant reservoir had splash back look. Left car parked for several hours until it cooled down went back to pick it up from parking lot and as I begin to drive it slowly rose back up to the h on gauge.
Motor/touch sensor on drivers door handle stopped working. Sensor or key will no longer lock or unclock drivers door. Thought it was the key until it was replaced then a couple months later the door stopped working again.
My 2019 Toyota Camry with 73000 miles just went out and it will need a new transmission.
The transmission of my 2019 Toyota Camry just died. There were no warnings whatsoever. I only have about 70000 miles on the car and I am unable to find a replacement transmission anywhere. No I am stuck making payments on a car that can't be driven along with full coverage insurance and registration fees. The problem was confirmed by an independent service center. Car is available for inspection upon request. However, it is not drivable. Safety was compromised as the car would not move at a safe speed on the freeway when last driven potentially causing harm to myself or others.
Subject: urgent safety concerns: 2019 Toyota Camry xse abs brake system/ abs actuator issue description: in late July, while on the freeway, I faced an alarming situation with six brake system malfunction indicator lights. After briefly turning off and restarting the engine, the warning lights cleared. 6 warning lights: lda malfunction, pre-collision system malfunction, lower braking power, antilock brake system malfunction, parking brake malfunction, and secondary collision brake system malfunction. Timeline: around 38,900 miles, during an August 19th maintenance appointment, the technician identified error code c1300, indicating an abs skid control ecu malfunction and advised dealer contact. In September, during my first visit to the dealer for this issue, despite mentioning c1300, the dealer recommended a battery replacement, which didn't resolve the issue. 2nd visit to dealer service center: Toyota dealer service detected code c1300 and recommended replacing the abs actuator for an estimated cost of $2,009. 41. However, this may not guarantee issue resolution, requiring further diagnostics due to potential concurrent unknown factors. C1300 code: the abs skid control ecu outputs this dtc if malfunction are found in the circuit inside the ecu by self-diagnosis. Manufacturing defect: I strongly believe that this malfunction in the abs skid control ecu is a manufacturing defect. It's rare for a newer, low-mileage vehicle to experience such a critical issue. Safety implications: this malfunction poses life-threatening hazards, including loss of anti-lock braking, extended braking distances, reduced steering control, decreased stability, increased risk in adverse conditions, and traction control issues. Repetitive contact with Toyota headquarters: despite multiple attempts, Toyota hasn't accepted responsibility. Request for immediate attention: I urge the NHTSA to investigate this abs system malfunction and ensure Toyota's accountability for customer safety.
Passenger seat makes sound like if the seat is not locked in. My passenger has a manual handle and it is not a electric seat. I get worried sometimes because when I have someone sitting in the passenger seat I fear that seat might shift forward or backward. This sound is more common when I make a full stop and hit the break pad. My car is always clean and I never have stuff under the seats for safety purposes.
Had fuel pumped replaced in Aug 2020 on my 2019 Toyota Camry xse out of precaution due to a recall. Fast forward to today Aug. 2022, I have had issues the last week & a half. Iv taken my car into Toyota dealership 3 times and they still can’t figure out the problem. When starting my car, it stalls, sputters, vibrates, and or dies after a few seconds, as well as every warning light going off, and very low mpg when it is drivable. At one point I was getting 7mpg and car wouldn’t go above 15mph. I told Toyota I believed it was due to a bad fuel pump, they told me it was replaced 2 yrs ago, therefore that can’t be the issue. I mention that maybe they replaced my fuel pump w/an original fuel pump rather than the newer fuel pump that was suppose to correct the problem. The mechanics response was “it’s possible”. Still w/o a car to drive while Toyota tries to figure out the problem. A couple days prior they said it was fixed, picked up my car and as soon as I pulled out onto the main road, my car started to vibrate and sputter again. Hoping this time they will at least check to see if it is indeed the fuel pump.
Had a major issue with air conditioner evaporate core that was stopped up and caused the water to go back in the interior back seat return vent and soak the carpet and padding on the passenger side instead of going on the ground like it is supposed to do. This is definitely could be a safety issue and cause corrosion and mildew in the interior. I looked into and troubleshooted this issue and actually found out this was a common issue on Camry's. I ended up taking the vehicle back to the dealer and told them this was the reason the last person traded this vehicle in. The dealer wanted to get me another car instead and not fix the issue.
The factory glass center display console, in my 2019 Toyota Camry xse, which contains a touchscreen radio and built-in hvac controls, suddenly cracked in multiple locations. Small shards of glass are protruding from some of the cracked areas. Multiple owners have experienced this same phenomenon as highlighted in the attached link to a Toyota owner forum. A call to Toyota care and trips to (2) Toyota dealers has resulted in the same experience; they stated to be unaware of a product defect that would cause this type of failure, and suggested that the cracked glass was the result of impact damage. That is not the case. . . The screen suddenly failed by itself. Obviously, the broken glass creates a safety concern for use of the touchscreen, and it's plausible that pieces of the screen could dislodge and become projectiles in the event of an accident. Please consider this failure for a product safety recall, covered by Toyota. . Read more...
This car's moonroof shattered spontaneously one day with no incident at all or warning while my daughter was sitting in her car. Had it shattered while she was driving, it could have caused a major accident. Toyota would not cover under the warranty and we had to use our personal insurance to repair it and then a few months later it stopped working altogether. The sliding rails broke and the warranty would not cover it. Insurance would not cover it either and Toyota is quoting us $8,000 to repair. We took our vehicle back to the shop that repaired the glass from the shattered moonroof that stated it is a piece of the railing system that is broken.
Issue with braking and vehicle stalls.
Consul screen keeps going blank. Software updated by the dealer, still happening. Approached the dealer today, they want to tale a screen shot when it happens. This may cause an accident. Per dealer this screen connects which almost all the electronics. Called Toyota about the same, they are saying dealer is the best to advise but screen shot while driving is not advisable. Reporting as this is seems to be safety issue. Dealer told me there is no guarantee this will be fixed.
I purchased my camera a few months back. My first complaint would be about the electrical system I assume. The automatic headlight feature does not work, it has caused my battery to die twice, when the driver door is open the interior lights don’t come on, and it will rarely start when using the key fob from inside to warm the vehicle. After purchasing I found out it had actually been wrecked & the carfax were not factual, assuming that could be a cause and not the actual vehicle being faulty. The main concern is that it sometimes doesn’t shift or struggles and will unexpectedly jerk into gear, then while cruising it seems to have some sort of lagging feel to it, also like a jerking feeling. I believe it may be a transmission issue but it feels very unsafe if you’re trying to maneuver in traffic when the vehicle isnt shifting properly almost causing another car to hit you.
Lda malfunction check engine light secondary break malfunction.
Note - three similar incidents within 20 minutes. Incident 1 - when pulling out of a parking lot and into traffic my 2019 Camry lost power and would not accelerate. It took me several seconds trying to figure out what was happening. I first thought engine stalled but that was not the case. I noticed a message pop up (and quickly disappear) on the dash display saying to "release the accelerator pedal" (may not be exact wording of the message as it happened very quickly). I took my foot off the accelerator pedal for a few seconds and then was able to regain acceleration control. When first starting to pull out of the parking lot the vehicle accelerated normally. I originally had more than ample time to pull out into the traffic but after the incident cars were stopping behind me as I was coasting. I had all other control (steering and braking). Incident 2 - (five minutes after incident 1) when doing a slow easy u-turn, my Camry lost power and would not accelerate. Again my first thought was that the engine stalled but that was not the case. A message popped up (and quickly disappeared) on the dash display but I had no time to read it as I was trying to get out of traffic. I believe it was similar to "release the accelerator pedal". I took my foot off the accelerator pedal for a couple of seconds and then was able to regain acceleration control. Incident 3 - (about 5 minutes after incident 2). When pulling into the center turn lane from the normal travel lane, my Camry lost power and would not accelerate. I first thought the engine stalled but again that was not the case. I noticed a much longer message pop up (and quickly disappear) on the dash display but I had no time to read it. I took my foot off the accelerator pedal for a couple of seconds and then was able to regain acceleration control.
I don't have this car anymore, I changed this car to Toyota tacoma 2021.
The problem is with the rear camera system. I get a message saying "rcd off" and "rcd unavailable. " the rear camera works but is missing the yellow grid lines, and it does not alert if a pedestrian or vehicle is approaching from the side. This happens whenever the vehicle is in reverse, whether it is moving or staionary. This is a sfaety risk because the driver is not alerted if a pedestrian or other vehicle is approaching, which could lead to vehicle damage, injury or death.
I was driving yesterday (1/29/21) and I was going about 40mph I came up on the reset of another vehicle who's break lights were disabled and I almost did not break in time to avoid collision. This was the second time I've noticed my breaking assist not working. Back in October 2019 I noticed an issue with my air bags as well. They would beep and go off as though someone was sitting in the seats and there was no one there. Due to my own beliefs I assumed it was paranormal activity however I did make a complaint when I got my oil change in the following weeks. They told me to let them know if it continued and it may have done it once or twice since then but not often. I'm not sure if it is enough to report.
Whenever the air condtioning system is used, there is a strong chemical smell getting into the cabin. Took it to the dealer service and they said it is not covered under the 30k warranty (car is at 24k miles) our biggest concern is that this may pose a health hazard to the occupants of the car, since it is obvious some type of chemical is going thru the a/c vents; and that the toyora dealer is not honoring the warranty service.
Im unable to locate my stolen vehicle I was away and my house was broken into my car was stolen I am unsure if the keys were left in the house for favorite car my identification social security card everything was stolen in my purse along with a few other price electronics and I'm just trying to figure out how to get this taken care of his I need my car and I keep running into walls if we're trying to get my information and access my rental car and everything else because I do not have it identification.
Good.
I have 2019 Camry xse v6 has acceleration problem from stop to take off it jerks when I press gas also scared to drive on highway when I take overtake it couldn't accelerate quick as should it is very risky to drive Toyota doesn't know this issue and they don't have solution yet for this problem I have seen so many complaints for same reason no recall yet.
While driving I slowed down due to a car being in front of me but when I pressed on the gas the car stalled and would not pick up speed or accelerate. My car has 24,000 miles and have noticed a hesitation when in traffic during stop and go traffic when I first purchased the car 6,000 miles but recently at 24,000 miles 1 instance of stalling.
Lcd display showing -check engine -pre collision system malfunctioning - secondary collision brake system malfunctioning -drive start control malfunctioning several warning signs on rpm display.
