Air Bag problem #1

The airbag recall on select Toyota Camry. The manufacturer of the airbags in japan are said to be defective. I have not received new sensors that are on back order. Seatbelt sensors continue to go off, unless they are clicked in all seats. I already had the car fixed twice, they won’t lean to fix the car again. It’s all political financially. The onboard safety sos may also be defective in these models.

This is the recall I am speaking about 23v865 for the 2020 Toyota Camry. This is a serious safety risk that I would like to have resolved. I drive around with my family and younger siblings and don't want there safety at risk. The other vehicle had all their airbags deploy.

Air Bag problem #15

A safety recall for the occupant classification system (OCS) was issued by NHTSA in Dec 2023. I have contacted my Toyota dealer on 6/7/24 and again on 10/28/24 and they said that "a remedy is still not available" and "Toyota has not found a fix yet". It is now Feb 2025, more than a year after the recall for this matter, and Toyota has still not provided a fix.

Air Bag problem #16

Toyota’s occupant classification sensor (OCS) recall, which prevents airbags from deploying in a crash, was announced in November 2023. Despite multiple calls over the past year, Toyota has failed to resolve the issue, repeatedly giving me the runaround—both over the phone and in person at the dealership. This is completely unacceptable. My previous Camry had an airbag recall, which was fixed just before a serious accident caused by an unlicensed driver. Thankfully, the airbags deployed, likely preventing severe injury or worse. Now, I face the same dangerous issue again with this recall, and I refuse to put myself or my son at risk by driving a vehicle with defective airbags. After finally escalating the issue to Toyota corporate, they offered me a loaner vehicle. However, after spending an entire day coordinating and traveling to pick it up, the dealership treated me terribly, refusing to provide a comparable vehicle with basic features like apple carplay for gps. The staff was rude and unprofessional, making me extremely uncomfortable leaving my car there for an estimated four months—the earliest they claim they can fix it. This is my primary vehicle—our only car for long trips and daily use. I have an older car for short errands, but this is not a viable alternative. To make matters worse, when I reported the terrible experience back to Toyota corporate, they had no solutions, and will not offer rental car reimbursement. This is negligence, plain and simple. This is the second time in the past 10-15 years Toyota has faced a major airbag recall, with at least 28 fatalities and a $70+ million settlement tied to past failures. How is Toyota being allowed to do this again? they must be held accountable.

Air Bag problem #28

My car recently had this message pop up "srs airbag system malfunction. " I did a search for recalls and found that Toyota is doing a recall for my vehicle's year and model (2020-2022 Camry). I used this site to punch in my VIN number but there are no recalls on my vehicle. What is the probability that my car has the same exact problem as what the company is recalling for yet not be a part of the recall? is there anything I can do about this? the message popped up out of the blue.

Air Bag problem #31

There has been an open recall since December 2023, which Toyota has not provided a remedy. I have been the dealership several times to get my oil change and to get new tires. They did not mention anything about the open recall nor did they fix it. The subject vehicles have occupant classification system (OCS) sensors in the front passenger seat, that could have been improperly manufactured. Safety risk this would not allow the airbag system to properly classify the occupant’s weight, and the airbag may not deploy as designed in certain crashes, increasing the risk of injury. .

Air Bag problem #32

There is a current recall on my 2020 Camry. I was notified by email in December 2023. It is for the passenger side air bag. I do not feel safe driving the car since being made aware of the recall. The Toyota dealership I go to has said there is nothing they can do as there is no remedy for this recall. I also have had multiple issues over the years with the sensors and battery. I bought the car brand new, with 2 miles I rolled off the lot. A few days after purchasing it my battery died. My battery died multiple times within the first few months, sensors did not work, screen display was off, Toyota said they had to reset the computer software. There was an issue draining the battery. Fast forward to November 2023, I had to buy a new battery. Even though I have had issues with the battery since purchasing the brand new car, I had to pay for the battery out of pocket. Toyota said I just barely missed the warranty. Now once again I have issues with the parking sensors not working and the rear camera display not showing. I get the notification rcd unavailable. Even though my camera is clean and was checked at the dealership. I feel as if I have bought a bad car from the start. And now I do not feel safe driving it as well as being completely frustrated with it. What can I do?.

Air Bag problem #34

I am filing this complaint to report a serious and ongoing issue regarding the unresolved safety recall 23ta15 (interim notice 23tb15) for my vehicle, a 2020 Toyota Camry le (VIN: [xxx] ). The recall is associated with a critical defect where the passenger airbag may fail to deploy (NHTSA #23v865). It has been over 1 year since this recall was issued, and despite repeated visits to Toyota dealerships, I have been informed each time that the required remedy is not yet available. This delay is unacceptable, particularly for a defect that directly compromises the safety of vehicle occupants. The inability of the passenger airbag to deploy in an accident poses a significant risk of severe injury or death. As the owner of this vehicle, I am extremely concerned that Toyota has not prioritized this issue or provided an adequate solution within a reasonable timeframe. I respectfully request the NHTSA to investigate this matter and take the necessary actions to ensure Toyota fulfills its responsibility to provide a timely and effective remedy for this critical safety recall. I would also appreciate guidance on any additional steps I can take as a consumer to expedite the resolution of this issue. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I am available to provide any further information or documentation required. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Air Bag problem #37

My car has been brought into the shop over two times due to a recall that has no yet been resolved and has no time frame as to when there will be available parts created to fix this issue. The passenger air bag is in for a recall as in case of anything, the air bag will not deploy correctly or at all. This is a major safety issue as it can cause the death of the person rising in the passenger seat. I do not feel safe driving in this car especially since my car is always a full house and it is used as a family vehicle where all 5 seats are being used at once. This is a recall that was later found on this car meaning that the car was built like that. Again, I do not feel safe as I have had family members die in a car accident before. I have asked the dealership multiple times to resolve this issue. On June 23rd 20024, I was almost in a car accident. All 5 seats were being used and we were almost hit by a car that was going over approximately 85mph. A life could have been taken if we would have been hit and the air bag would not have deployed at all or correctly. My car has been in the shop, hanlees hilltop Toyota since Monday June 24th. I was concerned about the airbag and again, they do not have any parts that have been created by Toyota manufacturer. I asked for a loaner car and they did not want to help nor provide me with one. I do not feel safe in this vehicle and the airbag not working should be considered high risk and this car should not be drivable due to this major high risk issue.

Air Bag problem #38

I am filing a formal complaint regarding a longstanding and unresolved recall on my 2020 Toyota Camry xse. The recall in question — NHTSA #23v865 / Toyota #23tb15 — was issued on December 19, 2023, and involves a critical defect: the passenger airbag may fail to deploy in a crash. As of today, nearly six months later, no remedy has been issued by Toyota. This puts myself and others at serious risk, and Toyota has made no accommodations to ensure my safety, such as a loaner vehicle. In addition, I am continuing to make payments on this vehicle through Toyota financial services, despite being unable to use it safely or as intended. I urge NHTSA to take immediate action •investigate the reason for the extended delay in remedy •pressure Toyota to offer protective measures or replacement vehicles •ensure that automakers are held accountable when they fail to resolve serious recalls in a reasonable timeframe I expect a response or update from NHTSA and Toyota regarding the status of this recall and the lack of consumer support.

Air Bag problem #39

There has been a safety recall for the passenger airbag for my Toyota for over a year. My dealer says Toyota has not provided them with the part (s) to fix the problem leaving me to drive in an unsafe car exposing passengers, and myself when I had to have someone driver for me after foot surgery, to danger.

Air Bag problem #40

A car turned in front of my daughter and her boyfriend. They were going 40 mph and there is severe damage to the front of the vehicle. The car will be totaled. Not one air bag deployed. All first responders were very surprised and cautious that even them exiting the damaged vehicle could set them off. They were told "not to move" until they could investigate a safe way for them to leave the car.

Air Bag problem #41

Airbags failed in accident passenger and I were hurt and significantly impacted and then informed about recall after the fact recall number is 23tb15/23ta15.

Air Bag problem #42

My dash constantly makes this buzzing sound coming around the center of the dash. It is highly distracting and has almost caused me multiple incidents trying to stop the noise and find out where exactly it’s coming from. Yes it’s been reproduced by others.

Air Bag problem #43

The contact owns a 2020 Toyota Camry xle. The contact stated while driving approximately 26 mph, an 18 wheeler vehicle crashed into the rear of his vehicle twice. The air bags failed to deploy and the seat belts failed to engage. The message "air bag system malfunction" was displayed. The contact sustained whiplash and hit his head against the steering wheel. The contact sought medical assistance the next day and was diagnosed with an herniated disk and torn muscles in the back. As a result, the contact had undergone a left shoulder surgery. The contact's sister sustain whiplash, hit her head and face against the passenger's side door and sustained soreness and bruises on the right side of her face. The emergency units transported the contact's sister to the hospital where she received medical assistance. A police report was filed. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to his residence. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired for air bags and seat belts failure. The contact stated that the event data recorder (edr) indicated that the vehicle had only sustained one impact; however, the vehicle had sustained two impacts as it was rear-ended twice. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance or explanation for the erroneous report of the event data recorder (edr). The failure mileage was approximately 17,000.

Air Bag problem #44

The contact owned a 2020 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 50 mph, he crashed into another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The contact suffered injuries to both shoulders and his back but did not seek medical treatment. The other driver was injured and transported to the hospital for an injury to his back. A police report was filed. The vehicle was initially towed to an independent tow yard and then towed to a collision center. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and a claim was filed. The vehicle was deemed a total loss and was destroyed. The failure mileage was 8,446.

Air Bag problem #45

Our vehicle was struck from the drivers side - rear at an estimated 60mph speed difference. (it is thought we were slowed to approx 25mph, other car was probably 80mph or more). This happened on i95 in lumberton nc. The other vehicle was in left lane, we were in right lane. The other vehicle swerved into our lane hitting us "quartering" from left rear. Force was hard enough to deform right side of car which came in contact with nothing. As the driver, I struck the interior with enough force to cause a "severe" concussion. No side curtains deployed, and I do not believe the seat belts tensioned to restrain me in the seat. My left shoulder, arm, and elbow were also injured in the accident. The front seat passenger suffered injuries to her left arm, and recoiled striking the inside of the right interior. This caused head trauma as well. We don't believe the seat belt tensioned. Passenger in the back seat, right side also suffered injury. Not as severe as front seat occupants. He was throw around in the vehicle, it is unknown if his belts tensioned. All 3 had to be transported by ambulance for injuries suffered. There is a warning displayed in the dash stating, "srs airbag system malfuntion visit your dealer" I believe had seatbelts tensioned, side curtains deployed, my injuries would be much less. This accident occurred 10/11/2020, weather was overcast but dry. Crash force was sufficient to cause body work deformation on right side of vehicle, which came in contact with no objects.
