I was slowly accelerating into a parking space when I felt the gas pedal move away from my foot and the car lurched forward. I immediately stepped on the brakes and the car stopped. I sat for a minute to see what could have caused this unintended acceleration. Nothing was evident, so I backed into the parking space and shut the car off.
The contact owns a 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle erroneously accelerated and the brakes failed to respond, causing it to crash into another vehicle. The contact sustained injuries to the left foot, right foot and bruising to the chest. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 8,900.
