The seat doesn’t fully lock in and will shift while driving.
I purchased a new 2026 Toyota camry xle and have experienced a potentially defective driver seat lumbar support condition since delivery. The lumbar support remains excessively hard and protruding even when adjusted to the lowest setting. The condition causes significant lower back discomfort and pain during ordinary driving. The issue appears abnormal and may involve the lumbar mechanism, seat foam, or internal seat structure. The vehicle has very low mileage, and the condition has been present from the beginning of ownership. I contacted Toyota and the dealership, and the vehicle is scheduled for inspection. I am submitting this complaint because the seat condition may affect safe vehicle operation by causing driver discomfort, pain, and difficulty maintaining a normal driving position during extended use. I request investigation into whether this is a defect affecting the seat lumbar support system or seat assembly.
Drivers seat has popping sensation on my back when accelerating, braking, and going over bumps. This issue appears to be coming from the lumbar assembly of the drivers seat. I've also noticed it is much more frequent when the weather is warmer (75 degrees +). I took the vehicle to the dealer and they were not able to duplicate the issue. Because they were not able to duplicate the issue I was told nothing could be done and that they would not investigate any further. Even though this seems to be a well known issue for the 2025 and 2026 camry's as it appears many others have submitted similar complaints to the NHTSA, reddit, etc. The service manager at the dealership even admitted Toyota was aware of this issue and supposedly installed the "fix" in my 2026 camry at the factory. I have also reached out to Toyota brand engagement to voice my displeasure with the performance of the drivers seat, still waiting for a resolution from them. This poses a safety risk as is it is very distracting to the driver of the vehicle.
Toyota camry driver seat issue. Popping noise, crunching sounds, and a physical shifting sensation in the mid-back and shoulder areas.
I am reporting an issue with the driver seat in my 2026 Toyota camry le purchased in January of 2026 the drivers seat exhibits abnormal movement, shifting, instability, and popping sensations in the seatback area during normal driving conditions such as stopping or getting in and out of car. It feels like the seat will fold in. The issue feels like looseness or movement of internal seat components may create a potential safety concern while operating the vehicle I have not yet briught the vehicle to a Toyota dealership for inspection. However after researching online owner forums and discussions, I found multiple reports from other Toyota camry owners describing similar driver seat problems, suggesting this may not be an isolated incident. The ongoing seat movement negatively affects driver safety potentially. Owners in those forums have not reported a satisfactory fix or resolution in many cases.
I am reporting an issue with the driver seat in my 2026 Toyota camry se model. The seat exhibits abnormal movement, shifting, instability, and popping sensations in the seatback (lumper support) area during normal driving conditions, specifically while accelerating or coming to a stop. It is also more noticeable during warming climates than cooler climates. The issue feels like looseness or movement of internal seat components and creates a distraction and potential safety concern while operating the vehicle. It has become very uncomfortable to sit and drive the vehicle. It feels like if someone is kicking the seat from behind. I brought the vehicle to three different Toyota dealership for inspection. The dealership acknowledged the issue and opened a tas (technical assistance system) case with Toyota motor corporation. An attempted repair and inspection were performed; however, the issue still persists. After researching online owner forums and discussions, I found multiple reports from other Toyota camry owners describing similar driver seat problems, suggesting this may not be an isolated incident. The ongoing seat movement negatively affects driver confidence and comfort and may create a safety risk by distracting the driver or altering seating position while driving.
Two days after purchasing vehicle, I noticed a popping noise coming from the bottom driver seat, and the seat back of the driver seat. I took vehicle to the dealer, and the dealer was unable to replicate the issue. I noticed this issue every time I drive. I opened up the seat cover and noticed a loose piece in the seat frame. I think this may be causing the issue. I will be taking the vehicle to the dealer again to see what can be done.
The driver's seat produces a noticeable popping sensation against my back during acceleration, braking, and when driving over bumps. The issue appears to originate from the lumbar support assembly within the driver's seat. I have also observed that the condition occurs much more frequently in warmer temperatures. I brought the vehicle to the dealership for inspection; however, they were unable to duplicate the concern during my visit. Because they could not reproduce the issue, I was informed that no further investigation or repairs would be performed. This is particularly frustrating because the problem appears to be well documented among owners of 2025 and 2026 Toyota camry vehicles, with numerous similar complaints reported through NHTSA filings, online owner forums, and social media discussions. I have already taken the car to my dealership twice, with no solution. The recurring popping sensation is distracting while driving and has the potential to divert the driver's attention from the road, creating a safety concern. I am also now experiencing back and hip pain.
