Exterior Lighting Problems of Toyota Camry Hybrid

The contact owns a 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact received notifications of NHTSA campaign numbers: 25v869000 (hybrid propulsion system) and 26v511000 (exterior lighting, seat belts, electrical system); however, the parts for the recall repairs were unavailable. The contact stated the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the remedy to be available. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the lighting on the instrument panel flickered as if the computer was reset independently. The radio and bluetooth feature failed to operate as needed. The vehicle was pulled into a nearby gas station, turned off and restarted, and the system was reset. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the remedy was not yet available. Another dealer was contacted, bill penney Toyota (4808 university dr NW, huntsville, al 35816), and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.

When the headlight switch is set to auto, the vehicle consistently takes approximately 16 seconds to activate the headlights when entering a dark environment such as a tunnel or underpass. The dashboard illumination dims immediately, indicating the ambient light sensor detects the low-light condition, but the headlights do not activate for approximately 16 seconds. To illustrate the safety hazard: at 60 mph, a vehicle travels 1,760 feet — approximately one-third of a mile — in 16 seconds without headlights. At 55 mph, the vehicle travels approximately 1,613 feet in the same time. This is an unacceptable and dangerous safety risk to the driver and other motorists. In my experience with vehicles from multiple other manufacturers, automatic headlight activation in identical low-light conditions occurs within 1-3 seconds. A 16-second delay is grossly outside industry norms and represents a serious failure of a basic automotive safety system. This problem has existed since purchase. The same dealer was visited twice and was unable to resolve it on either occasion. Toyota corporate was contacted but only directed me back to the dealer without providing engineering support or technical guidance. The sensitivity adjustment in the vehicle's multimedia settings has no effect. This almost certainly requires a firmware or software update from Toyota engineering, which has not been made available to dealers.

4 way emergency flashers turn on and off intermittently at random while driving. Happened first day we owned car before we got home from dealer, then again 17000 miles later. Flasher button does not affect the flashing when this happens. Flashing stops when engine restarted, then starts up again randomly afterward. Happens while driving on highway. First time cloudy weather, second time cloudy and wet weather. First time dealer �lubed� the flasher switch. Second time they were unable to find a fault or reason for the incident.

On may 8th 2015 , I was taking a traffic in a curb on irvington Ave newark NJ the steering wheel stuck and I could not have any break so then the car goes straight with me to a pot light,I have serious injuries in my chest and lower back, my car is completely broken( drier's fender,front light,radiator, support radiator, lower arm control , water pump,wood,wheels,bumper etc. . . And the rest of the name that I don't remember the following week ,I contacted Toyota ; they opened a claim until 30 days and about another 60 days after inspected my car they sent a letter and they told me they can't do nothing for me ;there's nothing wrong with the car. Please help me cause the needs a lot of money to be fixed.

This was a multi car pileup on a road with 40mph speed limit which resulted from a vehicle ahead making an abrupt stop. This resulted in about 4 cars behind it having to come to stop resulting in a chain reaction. My car, 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid, could not come to a stop in time when full breaking was applied and ended up colliding with the car in front of me. Mine was the last vehicle in the pileup. This incident resulted in front end damage to my car and rear end damage to the car in front of me, and to two other cars in front of that car. My car could not come to a complete stop in time because I believe the breaks did not function properly. I wasn't aware of any break issues at that time and it was only about two years later I was informed by the dealer service department that there is a recall on this vehicle that involved break fluid reservoir assembly. I am reasonably certain that the accident on 3-8-2012 was the result of breaks not functioning properly and that my car could not stop in time to avoid a frontal collision while traveling at a relatively slow speed of 40mph.
