1 Other Fuel System problem of the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 01/09/2026

The vehicle experienced a safety-related issue involving the hybrid system, which may cause sudden loss of power while driving. This issue is associated with a manufacturer recall (Toyota campaign 25tb15). Due to the risk of power loss, the vehicle was deemed unsafe to drive. The vehicle was taken to a dealership for repair, where the issue was confirmed. However, no repair has been completed. The vehicle has remained at the dealership for over 3 months without a confirmed repair timeline. This creates a significant safety concern, as loss of power while driving could increase the risk of a crash, especially at highway speeds. No accident, fire, or injury has occurred, as the vehicle has not been driven due to the safety risk.

2 Other Fuel System problem of the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 01/05/2026

Fuel / propulsion system. . Hybrid inverter assembly defective component: hybrid inverter assembly cause: improperly torqued bolt inside the inverter result: open circuit possible loss of motive power while driving possible short circuit and fire risk component is available for inspection and is currently at the Toyota dealer. From Toyota’s own recall filing: loss of motive power while driving at higher speeds increased risk of a crash risk of thermal damage and fire if short circuit occurs. Toyota documented: dealer inspections field reports warranty claims Toyota confirmed bolts were found loose inside inverter assemblies this directly triggered the recallinspected by authorized Toyota dealers investigated by Toyota and the inverter supplier (denso) vehicle is currently held for recall-related service. Improperly torqued inverter bolt may activate a warning lamp; however, no warning lamps or messages were displayed prior to the defect occurring on my vehicle.

3 Other Fuel System problem of the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 12/09/2025

4 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 10/21/2019

I was parking my car in my garage and moved from the brake to the gas to move up a small amount. I barely touched the gas and the car surged forward hitting a shelving unit in my garage. It was a very scary event. The car and shelving unit were damaged. Thankfully, no individuals were injured.

5 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 10/17/2019

Vehicle in motion getting onto freeway. Pressing gas pedal to accelerate car not accelerating beyond 40mph and felt like it was being forced to accelerate like there was drag and pull. Car jerked forward a few times as if it was being choked on gas. The hybrid dial was bouncing erratically as if it was confused and car was not accelerating beyond 40 mph. Took it to dealer 1x they could not replicate issue, called Toyota care and was told error needed duplicating to be addressed. Both incidences have occured while getting onto a freeway and pressing gas pedal to merge onto the freeway. The temperature outside both times was above 90 degrees and the car had been at rest for at least an hour. I turned off the a/c to reduce amount of power car was using up in order to help with acceleration. The first time this happened in September of 2019. I was able to get the car to 50 mph after about 15-20 minutes and was driving with hazards all the way to the dealership. The second time when getting on the freeway it was not busy and was trying to accelerate to 65 mph, got it up to 40 mph for about 20 minutes then hit traffic and was going about 17 mph then exited the freeway and took the streets.

6 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 04/28/2019

We experienced the "check hybrid system" message on two occasions. The first incident, on April 3, 2019, involved driving eight miles and then leaving the car (off and parked) for about 20 minutes. On returning and attempting to start the car, the power came on but the engine did not and the "check hybrid system" message displayed. It was evening, so we had the car towed to our normal repair shop and left a description of the issue. The next day the repair shop called to say that the car had started up right away, so there was nothing they could do to diagnose the issue. They suggested we contact Toyota if the issue recurred. We retrieved the car, and didn't observe any further issues, so we continued driving it 20-25 miles during the work week. On April 28, 2019, twenty-five days after the first incident, while driving about 35 miles per hour along a straight section of a four-lane divided highway, the engine cut off and the the "check hybrid system" message came on. The electronics remained on and the car began to slow. There were a number of other cars nearby, but fortunately I was in the right-hand lane and was able to navigate the car onto the shoulder. I turned the car off, then attempted to restart it again after about 15-20 minutes (unsuccessfully). I had it towed to the Toyota dealership. At first they thought it would be a quick repair, but after a few days of troubleshooting and escalating its issues to higher levels at Toyota, they diagnosed the issue as a problem with the inverter and the battery: a repair of nearly $8000. I asked the shop to document the repairs with photos and give me the broken parts. The tech agreed to do so, but (despite following up multiple times) I have not received anything except an invoice for the cost of repairs. I do not have the invoice near at hand, but can locate it if necessary.

7 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 08/31/2018

Since I bought the car in August 2018 until now, I have been driven it in normal condition, but have never gotten fuel consumption above 41 mpg. The sticker advertised at 48 mpg or higher for hwy/local. Toyota dealer has ran diagnostic on the vehicle but refuse to admit the false advertisement. I would like to know if other owners have similar problem. Please help me get this problem investigated.

8 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 07/25/2018

Vsc abs mil lights came on in dash and brakes sank to floor, but restored control after restart. Checked diagnostic codes and it showed codes for hybrid battery p0a80 and p3025. Replaced auxilary battery with oem from Toyota. Now car shuts down while in motion driving highway speeds without any warning and lose gas pedal response. First time it happened with my family in the car including a 5 yr old and 9 month old baby. Complained to Toyota as vehicle only has approx 93000 miles and Toyota declines to assist with resolving issue even though warranty was extended to 10yr/150k miles. Dealer misdiagnosed vehicle codes. Brakes failed second time, this time causing car to slowly bump into object and scraping bumper at low speed. Checked all fuses. Vehicle now continuously shuts down randomly on slow or high speeds, while making a turn, merging into traffic, crossing a heavy intersection.

10 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 09/22/2015

When I started the vehicle, the "check engine light" came on. This has happened once before a year or more ago. I brought it to a dealer and he asked whether I had gotten gas recently. Yes, about 200 miles and 2 weeks ago. He checked the gas cap and it was laying in the gas filling area, not screwed in at all. Obviously it had come loose somehow. He checked the computer and something like "gas line vacume" came up. He screwed in the gas cap. Easy fix, but since this has happened twice now with the same car and I have had dozens of cars and driven hundreds of thousands of miles and never had this problem, I wonder if it is an issue that needs to be looked at. . .

11 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 05/29/2015

The hybrid battery overheated according to the shop of the dealer. According to the mechanic this is not a new problem with the car. The warranty is 8 years or 100,000 miles on hybrid battery. The mechanic stated that the front filter allows dirt into the hybrid battery compartment, which results in the overheating. It is a $3,900. 00 cost to replace the hybrid battery. The mechanic also states that the new filter has been modified in order to not allow the debris to get into the hybrid battery. If Toyota was aware to the point of modifying the filter in order to prevent the debris from getting into the hybrid battery area why didn't they tell me that the filter was defective and needed replaced to protect the hybrid battery?.

12 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 05/29/2015

The hybrid battery overheated according the mechanic at the dealership. The mechanic stated that other hybrid batteries have had the same problem because of a defective filter at the front of the car, which allows debris and dirt to get into the compartment that houses the hybrid battery. It is a $3,900 cost to replace the hydrid battery since it is no longer under warranty with 200,000 miles on the car. The mechanic stated that Toyota had modified the new filter to stop the debris and overheating problem, and that the new filter would not allow debris in. Since Toyota was aware of the filter allowing debris into the hydrid battery department, and modified the new filter to resolve the problem why was I not notified to replace the filter before it allowed the battery to overheat the hybrid battery to be destroyed?.

13 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 04/25/2015

The hybrid battery malfunctioned and needs replaced after only 90k miles.

14 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 01/01/2014

Sir, my hybrid camry concern is on youtube parts 1-3 (punxsutawney winter driving a 2012 Camry Hybrid xle). I allege that its propulsion system could be the cause of fatalities past or future.

15 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 09/07/2013

On 9/7/13, while accelerating onto route 80 in NJ, I pushed the gas pedal to the floor, the accelerator stuck flat on the floor. I had to swerve to avoid hitting the car in front of me. Fortunately nobody was next to me. I was finally able to use the side of my foot to pop it back up. It performed normally after that, though I did not push it to the floor again.

16 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 10/05/2012

While my wife was driving the car a warning ("check vsc system") appeared in the status screen and about a minute after, another message appeared ("check hybrid system"). Then, the car stopped running. The impulse allowed for driving the car to the road side. Tried to power it back without success. It was required to tow the car home and then to the dealership for diagnostic. Prior this incident there were no previous warnings or signs. Update: today received communication from the dealership that diagnostic test confirmed that the problem was the hybrid system inverter module and that has to be replaced.

18 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 06/18/2009

While driving approximately 65 mph on hwy, hybrid system failure alert turned on. No other indicators on. Engine temp was normal. Attempted to pull over after a few miles and car seized up, smoke was billowing from engine compartment. Small flames visible through grill and within minutes entire engine compartment engulfed in flames. No prior problems except that about 6 weeks earlier the check engine light illuminated. I took to the dealer and after running complete engine diagnostic, dealer attributed problem to a loose gas cap. After that incident, the check engine light had not reappeared. I had the engine oil changed at the dealer 4 days prior to incident. Car had approximately 28,000 miles.
