1 Power Train problem of the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 05/12/2026

Vehicle makes a squeaking noise from the driver front wheel at speeds between 0 - 5 mph. Toyota released a technical service bulletin t-sb-0031-26 to fix the issue. I had my vehicle serviced under the TSB. Toyota service indicated on the invoice "driver front wheel bearing is coming apart and leaking grease causing noise. Replaced driver front wheel bearing". After a few hundred miles of driving, the squeaking noise from the driver front wheel at speeds between 0-5 mph has returned. My case is filed at the Toyota headquarters office under my name and file 260512000440. I have images, invoice and TSB, but they will not upload in the portal.

2 Power Train problem of the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 04/21/2026

Car makes a heavy humming noise when driving 30mph or more very loud dealer couldn’t fix this issue please help I don’t feel safe when driving on higher speeds.

3 Power Train problem of the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 01/23/2026

On 01/23/26 and again on 02/02/26, I lost power while driving. Fortunately, on both times I was able to turn off the road with no injury or property damage to me or others. I don’t remember if there was a screen message as I was taken by such surprise. Both times, I was traveling about 35 - 40 mph. On 02/04/26 I took my car to my dealer, autonation Toyota, winter park, FL. I advised of these incidents and stated I was now afraid of my car. Later, I realized the service tech did not mention these specific issues. A complete diagnosis of my car did not reveal any problem. On 02/17/26, I received the bolt recall, which could cause power loss with no remedy available yet. I emailed autonation asking for a refund or replacement camry not affected by the recall. Per my request, they did provide my 2 incidents and my fear to the 02/04/26 invoice. I find it odd that the service tech did not mention these specific issues in the upcoming recall. It seems the dealers would be made aware prior to customers. I have taken a loaner car now pending repair being available.

4 Power Train problem of the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 01/05/2026

Fuel / propulsion system. . Hybrid inverter assembly defective component: hybrid inverter assembly cause: improperly torqued bolt inside the inverter result: open circuit possible loss of motive power while driving possible short circuit and fire risk component is available for inspection and is currently at the Toyota dealer. From Toyota’s own recall filing: loss of motive power while driving at higher speeds increased risk of a crash risk of thermal damage and fire if short circuit occurs. Toyota documented: dealer inspections field reports warranty claims Toyota confirmed bolts were found loose inside inverter assemblies this directly triggered the recallinspected by authorized Toyota dealers investigated by Toyota and the inverter supplier (denso) vehicle is currently held for recall-related service. Improperly torqued inverter bolt may activate a warning lamp; however, no warning lamps or messages were displayed prior to the defect occurring on my vehicle.

5 Power Train problem of the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 12/30/2025

I was notified of this recall 12/30/25. I was told not to drive the vehicle to ensure my safety and that a repair would be available mid February. As of April 24, a remedy for the recall is still not available.

6 Power Train problem of the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 12/16/2025

The remedy to fix the current recall is taking absurdly long. I have driven a car previously in which there was a sudden loss of power and the risk to myself and other drivers is very dangerous. I just purchased this car in Nov. And the recall was soon after. I am very disappointed in this lack of urgency in finding a remedy. I purchased this car for my teen daughter to drive - what a mark on the safety of Toyotas name. There should be an investigation as to why the remedy is not being rushed as, again a lack of power and/or risk of fire on a busy California freeway, is putting so many at risk.

7 Power Train problem of the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 12/16/2025

My 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid xse (VIN 4t1daackxtu213841) purchased on September 26/2025 is subject to safety recall 25ta15 / NHTSA id 25v869 for a loose inverter bolt that can cause loss of motive power or fire. Toyota says no remedy is available until at least q1 2026. I transport my minor child in this vehicle and do not feel safe operating it with a known and unresolved fire/crash risk. I am reporting this defect and lack of remedy.

8 Power Train problem of the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 12/16/2025

There is no remedy available for the safety recall until sometime in the first quarter of 2026. This could be several months.

9 Power Train problem of the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 12/15/2025

The manufacturer has no solution to the recall of my vehicle. I cannot drive the vehicle due to a risk of the powertrain shutting down or worse, a fire. It’s been months that I cannot use the vehicle. I think the manufacturer should buy the vehicle back.

10 Power Train problem of the 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 12/01/2025

I’m still driving a time bomb waiting for vehicle fire or accident. Was told first quarter of the year. Now, still no remedy. I purchase car brand new and weeks later received notice. Then I was told Toyota was informed not to sell and I just bought mine. All I’m told is to wait. If engine line comes on pull over and tow. That’s great while I’m driving my family.

11 Power Train problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 11/07/2018

The brake light, traction control and abs lights turned on, and check vsc system displayed. Vehicle has been maintained correctly. I was on the hwy going 65 mph, in my 2007 Camry Hybrid when this happened, totally lost power, I was able to pill over to the side road call for help. This is a ridiculous situation for an automobile. I feel like the public is being used like test dummies by Toyota.

12 Power Train problem of the 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 10/02/2018

I have a 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid. It has 105000 miles. It has a bad vibration in the front end when you accelerate. It has been to the mechanic, but no one acknowledges that anything is wrong with it. Toyota needs to acknowledge that there's a problem.

13 Power Train problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 08/17/2018

When I come to a full stop and attempt to drive the vehicle sort of "stalls" then eventually the gears catch and it starts to drive. This can be very dangerous when trying to pick up speed in a highway or something. The first time it happened I was at a stop sign. Upon depressing the brake, the vehicle did not pick up speed, it slowly rolled forward. After about 5-10 seconds, the vehicle then seemed to "catch gears" and picked up speed. I also noticed the hybrid battery wasn't charging very well and seemed to be hot as the battery fans were constantly on.

14 Power Train problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 07/25/2018

Vsc abs mil lights came on in dash and brakes sank to floor, but restored control after restart. Checked diagnostic codes and it showed codes for hybrid battery p0a80 and p3025. Replaced auxilary battery with oem from Toyota. Now car shuts down while in motion driving highway speeds without any warning and lose gas pedal response. First time it happened with my family in the car including a 5 yr old and 9 month old baby. Complained to Toyota as vehicle only has approx 93000 miles and Toyota declines to assist with resolving issue even though warranty was extended to 10yr/150k miles. Dealer misdiagnosed vehicle codes. Brakes failed second time, this time causing car to slowly bump into object and scraping bumper at low speed. Checked all fuses. Vehicle now continuously shuts down randomly on slow or high speeds, while making a turn, merging into traffic, crossing a heavy intersection.

15 Power Train problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 07/06/2018

The engine started to burn oil excessively about 1 year after I purchased the car in 2013 and now in 2018 there are 2 cylinders with low pressure and the dealership has told me I need a new engine. The car is not giving a code : check vsc system and the car cuts completely off while driving, no control of brakes or acceleration, very dangerous. I was traveling on a city street and the car just cut completely off and all lights and bells illuminated on the dash board. The oil consumption problem ultimately burnt the engine up and Toyota would not repair the car.

16 Power Train problem of the 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 04/30/2017

As I cruise on highway at 70 miles per hour, the hybrid traction battery starts to make Mini rapid progressively loud explosions like the back of my rear seat is about to explode. To alleviate this I have to slow down to about 65 miles per hour. I have contacted Toyota and the dealerships but are unwilling to investigate the cause. This car is still under warranty.

17 Power Train problem of the 2011 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 02/22/2017

While driving the car, the "check hybrid system" light came on and the car lost power. The car had very little power and just crept at a very low rate. Stepping on the throttle pedal did not do any good. If we were in traffic we would have been in a dangerous safety situation. We had the car towed to a dealer and are waiting for an assessment. We have seen on Toyota nation that this is not an isolated case. Why hasn't a recall or an alert been issued for this situation. It is very similar to the ignition key problem where the engine is inadvertently shut-off. We have been lucky that this happened close to our residence. If my wife had been driving with our grandchildren in the car, who knows what would have happened. This is a serious safety condition that must be addressed by Toyota. At the Toyota dealer, we could not duplicate the "check hybrid system" condition and we are not comfortable about driving this car if Toyota can not assess and fix this unsafe condition.

18 Power Train problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 01/03/2017

The left front lug nuts do not stay tightened. Each year, over the last 4 years, when changing tires from the summer tires to the winter snow tires, the left front lug nuts do not stay tightened. This first came to my attention when my wife was driving alone, in an isolated area, 200 miles from home, when the left front wheel almost came completely off before it was discovered as being a problem. The car was moving forward at the speed limit on a 2 lane road. This year, since November 15, I have retightened the lug nuts at least 6 times. I have tried lock tight. It does not work very well.

19 Power Train problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 11/06/2014

The vehicle is sluggish occasionally when accelerating. The check engine came on at first and now all the dashboard lights came on. I took it to the dealer and they advised that it is the battery pack. The cost they quoted is $4000. Last month I had a problem with the actuator and now its the battery pack. This Toyota has been very unreliable and unsafe. I had issues with braking last month and now it is hard to know if the car will accelerate when needed. Toyota has had a very poor response to any inquiries. They show very little regard for public safety and prefer to settle cases than to be proactive and fix their unreliable and dangerous products.

20 Power Train problem of the 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 08/28/2014

2008 Camry Hybrid stopped at a gas station with car was in park. No one in car, car came out of park, rolled out of station, across first 2 lanes, then median, then 2 additional lanes and ended up in a tree in/near a school yard/property. Toyota had engineer review in early sept. Toyota wrote letter in January that they refuse to further evaluate or be responsible for collision. An insurance agent at my carrier had exactly the same issue but her damage was below her deductible and she just had it repaired without telling Toyota.

23 Power Train problem of the 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 08/21/2013

No matter where I park rodents are finding ways to get into my car. I do not keep food in the car and I have done several different things to prevent them getting in. Including moving my car around to places other than my designated covered parking spot. My dealer has told me to piss off. As has Toyota, but it would appear that Toyota switched over to more environmentally friendly insulation materials in recent years. I purchased this 2012 Toyota camry brand new. This has been going on for two years now and it would appear I'm not the only person experiencing this as is apparent from the links below. I have extensive pictures of what has happened to my car. This also hasn't been an issue for any of the other vehicles in my parking lot and my previous car was parked there for years without issue (a different manufacturer). I also park our older Toyota matrix (2003) and Toyota mr2 spyder (2000) in that spot and I have not had any issues with either vehicle. I believe our older Toyota models have very different materials that aren't as attractive to rodents. I firmly believe this has to do with Toyota's move to more environmentally friendly materials. Just tonight I finally have had enough because these creatures chewed into my trunk and were chewing up the materials in my trunk near the hybrid battery. I'm parked in a completely different area and it's still happening. This isn't a coincide! I have some serious health and safety concerns here. I was reading about another owner that had rodents get into their new Toyota prius that ate the passenger airbag and did over $10,000 in damages! this needs to be investigated ASAP. . Read more...

24 Power Train problem of the 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 04/02/2013

The water pump on car has started to leak spraying coolant over the orange electrical wires in the engine compartment. This is a potential fire hazard. Also it can lead to engine overheating. One complaint has already been filed at this website by another customer. Toyotanation. Com forum is filled with hundreds of complaints and pictures of similar nature and people have even posted pictures and instructions on how to change the water pump. I wish Toyota would have some honor respect for customer safety and acknowledge this grave problem.

Failure Date: 11/24/2012

Last 2 months I had call Toyota to head quarter to report my car lost power, can't control break or steering wheel. . Driving on the road with 40-45mph all the sudden the car had lost control steering and break and all the lights inside the panel blinking. . . . Finally I can break my car (very hard). 26 Power Train problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 09/15/2012

Power steering light (p/s) light comes on and lose of power steering will last until the car is shut off and you wait for awhile and sometimes when restarted it will be okay. (sometimes not okay) I have to drive it home using all the muscling I can muster to turn corners. Periodic instances have become more frequent. When I start the car the power steering light comes on and it is hard to turn the steering wheel. Sometimes when I shut the car off and wait awhile it will be okay to drive. Other times it has stayed on throughout the trip.

27 Power Train problem of the 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 10/22/2010

Having parked the car overnight in the garage, got in car with passenger and attempted to back out of garage. Car lunged forward, then correcting itself and started backward. This has happened on several occasions both in the garage and in parking lots. Mentioned problem to friend with same car and he said he hadn't noticed a problem but came to work several months later and said it had happened to him while his wife was a passenger.
