The contact owns a 1998 Toyota Corolla equipped with michelin radial xdt tires, size p185/65/r14. The contact stated that all of the tires were wearing prematurely. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the technician stated that all four tires needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The tires were replaced. The dot number and the VIN number were unavailable. The tire failure mileage was 58,000. The failure and current mileage of the vehicle was 172,000.

2 Tire problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2002

On September 2, 2002, at about 10:00am we were driving south on interstate 5 about 40 miles north of eugene oregon when we had a blowout on our rear passenger-side tire. The weather was clear and warm and the roadway was dry. We were traveling about 60 mph and did not hit any object, bump, or depression prior to the blowout. There was no warning prior to the blowout. We were driving a 1998 Toyota Corolla.

3 Tire problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2000

Tire collapsed while in movement.

4 Tire problem
