One problem related to front seat belt has been reported for the 1999 Toyota Corolla. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
My car is a 1999 Toyota Corolla le. On October 27, 2005, the seat belt indicator light began flashing even though the driver seat belt appeared to be securely fastened. It has since been doing the same thing (now going on 11 days) and I am concerned that there is a safety issue with the seat belt. I don't know whether or not the seat belt will work properly in case of an accident. On November 4, 2005, I took the car to the Toyota dealer. I paid $85 for diagnostic testing and was told that the left front seat belt assembly (part# 73220 02030) needs to be replaced. I was told that this needs to be special ordered and that I will need to pay $120. 26 for the part plus another $85 for labor. The part will be ordered this week and installed as soon as it arrives. I also found a forum where another customer reported the exact same problem. Please see below. . . "I have a 98 chev prizm (same car as Corolla) and my seat belt reminder light keeps blinking even while the seat belt is on. I have tried extending the seat belt all the way out but the light keeps blinking continuously. I took the molding away from the seat belt winding mechanism and unplugged the electrical connection. The seat belt light stayed on even after unplugging the wires but the electrical plug seemed a little charred. I am taking the car to the garage to have a maintenance inspection so if I find out anything new I will post here. . Read more...
