The contact owns a 2001 Toyota Corolla. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact noticed smoke coming from under the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician stated the failure was caused by a burnt ground wire and the daylight running light which failed due to the burnt wire. The relay assembly and running light were replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and stated due to the age of the vehicle, they could not provide assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000.
