While driving on the highway (I-75) in michigan on April 2, 2022 the sunroof exploded for no apparent reason.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2022

I received a recall notice, scheduled an appointment and then went to bev smith Toyota in fort pierce, FL. My appointment was for 9:30 am. I decided that as long as I was there, I would get my oil changed (normally I do not use dealer oil changes because they are expensive, but since I was there anyway. . . ). At 11:10, I was presented the bill for the oil change and told that they refused to service the airbag. There was some garbage on the floor of the passenger side that the service manager claimed rendered my vehicle unsafe to work on. I pointed out that no one asked me to clean out the front seat when I scheduled the appointment, that the items were there at 9:30 when received the car, and that the car apparently was safe enough for them to perform an overpriced oil change. I offered to remove the items (it later took me all of 3 minutes to clear the area). The service manager refused and refused to complete the recall work. He still demanded payment for the oil change and was unwilling to compensate me for my wasted time.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/22/2021

My car is accelerating when my foot is off of the pedal and when in park, it is revving like I am pressing down on the gas pedal. I put it in reverse to test it to make sure I was experiencing what I just thought had happened. As soon as I put the gear in reverse, and released my foot from the break, the car spead down my driveway. I breaked, put gear in drive, and when I released my foot from the break pedal, again it sped up almost crashing into my house. When I put the car in park, the engine became louder as if I was pressing down on the gas pedal. I checked the pedals below. The rug or nothing else was near the pedal, as can happen at times. This morning I tested it out again on my way to work. It was a repeat of yesterday. The car is speeding up without me putting my foot on the drive pedal, by me simply lifting my foot of of the break. And when I park, it gets loud as if I am pressing on the gas pedal. This is very dangerous and I am afraid to drive my car until I can get it to a mechanic.

I do not own this vehicle. It was traded in to orland Toyota (orland IL) when I purchased my 2015 Toyota Corolla on 08/04/2018. I have repeatedly told the nhra representatives by mail and by phone that I no longer own this vehicle. I'm sick of this. Remove my name and address from your records ASAP mary kulberg 4451 maple avenue matteson IL 60443.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2017

This Toyota was totaled in a car accident on June 28, 2017. The damage was to the front and side. Air bags should've deployed but never did. My daughter was driving the vehicle and was hit by someone speeding and going through a stop sign.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2015

Driver experienced a surge in uncalled for acceleration while slowing down to stop for a traffic light. The car stopped after this surge after heavy brake application and became normal. This was not repeated for the remainder of the trip of approximately 5 miles.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

Many years ago I received a recall notice for the driver's side floor mat of my 2003 Toyota Corolla. The fix by Toyota was to install floor anchors to hold the floor mat in a stable position so it could not slide around. The fix worked for a few years, then the anchors broke. I paid Toyota for new anchors which again fixed the problem for some time. Recently, the anchors again failed and I will again need new anchors to stabilize the floor mat. I think Toyota should come up with a more permanent fix for this safety issue.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2014

I was stopped at a red light. When it turned green I started to accelerate and turn the transmission blew. Subsequently, I was read ended. I started to do research and found that the 2003 Toyota Corolla has excessive transmission issues.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2014

Our Toyota had a recall on the passenger airbags. The dealer installed a harness and ecm. When they rechecked the srs system the airbag light came back on for b1811 for spiral cable. I was told that this repair is not part of the recall but that my driver side airbag is not working. I did some research and found that the spiral cable is part of a recall with other Toyotas but not the same year as mine. Obviously there are problems with these airbags and I'm wondering why my Toyota is not part of the recall? I am very concerned about this especially since my 17 year old son is now driving the vehicle! this is an expensive repair for us!.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2014

While I was driving on the highway to work, driving at approximately 70-75 mph, I started to brake. Instead of decreasing in speed, my car accelerated and everytime I would push the brake, my car would increase in speed (unintended acceleration). Within the span of about 3 months, this incident has occurred a total of 5-6 times, making it very unsafe to drive.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2014

I was driving my father's car. After driving car approx. 14 miles home from a restaurant, I parked it in the carport. Less than 15 min later I heard an explosion and saw the car was filled with smoke and smoke was pouring out from under the hood. A closer inspection revealed the right front tire was blown and flames were seen underneath the engine compartment soon followed by flames coming out the topside of the hood. After realizing it was out of control, the fire department was called. I had no indication of problems from lights on the dashboard panel, no difficulties driving the car, I did not run over anything on the trip home or any other time I can remember. All recalls received were responded to at peterson Toyota in ftcollins, colorado. Oil changes were done regularly. Brakes were inspected the last oil change in may or June and we were told they were still ok.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

The odometer stopped working at 299999 miles. Both trip odometers continue to work. It seems there are many incidents of this happening across the country with this and other Toyota car models.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2013

In November, 2013 the ourisman chantilly Toyota dealer serviced my car for 2 air bag related recalls. In December 2013 my car skid on ice and hit the jersey barrier head on with a significant front impact. The front bumper was all damaged but none of the air bags deployed. I have contacted the Toyota dealer "ourisman Toyota" in chantilly, va where I had purchased the vehicle new in 2003. The manager responded that the recall work was done properly and they have nothing to do with the non-deployment of the airbags in the accident and that I should contact Toyota for any concerns. I have called Toyota and they took the issue very lightly and suggested that their airbags are all tested and if there was no airbag light on prior to the accident then the airbag was functioning correctly. I insisted that something must have been wrong with the airbags and argued that if they are all so perfect then why do you have so many recalls. Finally he asked me to send the photos to determine if the airbag should have deployed. I sent the accident photos in February 2014 and have sent a reminder on March 2014 but they have not responded back. I strongly feel that Toyota is ignoring this issue. Since this vehicle was driven by me and my family particularly me daughter, I would like to know if we were at danger due to faulty airbags or not. If I am going to buy another vehicle then I should have the right to know the pros and cons of the makes and models. Most of all I believe it is a safety concern. I would request you to kindly follow up on this issue and let me know what you find. Thanks.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2013

Was driving 20mph on a side street with my toddler in the car when I smelt strong electrical fire. Window switch got stuck on driver side window and instead of blowing fuse my door caught on fire. Called the dealership etc and they wouldn't do anything about what happened because no recall for my year. Just received a recall letter today. Two months after! this is my second recall on this car and I'm not sure how much longer I can handle this. I will never own a Toyota again. Fyi the first recall was for electrical problems in my driver side door so they replaced the entire door panel parts etc but obviously didn't fix the problem.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2013

I met with an accident in January 2013. It was really bad accident and my car got totaled. My air bag didn't open up. Now I am reeiving this letter from Toyota that there is some defect in airbags of 2003-2004 model.
