1 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2010

On Friday, March 12, 2010, I was driving my 2007 Toyota Corolla home on my lunch hour and my car stalled twice on a sharp turn. I nearly lost control on the turn because the steering became (quite unexpectedly) very difficult. At first I didn't realize the car had stalled, causing the steering problem. That was the first time the car stalled. I immediately took it to my local Toyota dealership. They said it could be a computer problem, battery, alternator, etc. , and they'd run diagnostics on it. After being there over four hours, all they said was that the battery was "marginal" but it took a charge. I asked about putting in a new battery and the service rep said he didn't want to do that. I wasn't charged for the diagnostic or battery charge. I believe, now that I've heard about the stall issue today in the news, that this problem is why I wasn't charged for the diagnostic test; however, I was not informed there have been problems with stalling.
