Takata inflators I haven't had an issue with my airbags yet, but I saw a news article that there are problem with makers of most car company's airbags and my car was on of the models.
Received mail regarding legal notice for owner of vehicles with takata airbag inflators so investigating.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Corolla. While driving approximately 65 mph, the contact's vehicle crashed into the rear of a second vehicle. The front end of the contact's vehicle was damaged. The front driver and passenger air bags deployed. The driver sustained back, neck, and shoulder injuries. The front passenger sustained an injured neck. Medical attention was required. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed. The cause of the failures was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact indicated that the vehicle was recently serviced for NHTSA campaign number: 15v286000 (air bags) and the passenger side air bag inflator was replaced. The failure mileage was 178,000.
After nearly 2 months that Toyota replaced the inflator , the light of my airbag comes on, called toota headquarters, they refer me to my local dealer which they said is not related to the recalled , how do I know is not related?.
Takata inflators. You, the NHTSA, are fully aware the takata airbags are not safe and have harmed people. Why is it taking so long to issue a safety recall on my model of car? I could be killed, and the delay by the NHTSA to recall the airbags, would be your fault. Maybe you have forgotten your responsibility is to the public.
Received "urgent" letter and two urgent emails from Toyota on my air bag inflator recall. They said to contact them immediately for repair scheduling. Called local dealer and was told it is a seven month waiting list for the parts. This is ridiculous, why were their contacts to me so urgent. I then called Toyota's customer service 800 number (1-888-270-9371), their pre-recorded message prior to connecting me to an agent said after my call I'd be able to take a customer satisfaction survey. After talking to the agent about my dissatisfaction with the "urgent contacts" and seven month wait. They refused to let me take the customer survey. This was a flat out refusal, they would not even forward me in to the survey. This really stinks.
Takata recall - despite notification from Toyota that parts are available to replace the airbag inflator in my car, the dealer says that they do not have the part and they don't know when the part will be received. Supposedly, when the part comes in, I will be notified.
Takata recall: I received the safety recall notice (interim notice) re the front passenger airbag inflator module from Toyota months ago, though I noticed that there is no date on it. It states: ". . . We will send you another notification once sufficient parts have been produced and the remedy can be performed. " I've heard nothing since. News of another automobile manufacturer's recall prompted me to wonder why I haven't heard from Toyota again after all this time. I called a local Toyota dealership and they advised that they have the parts needed and scheduled a service appointment for tomorrow, for which I am grateful. My complaint is the fact that I have heard nothing from Toyota after the interim notice even though those "sufficient parts have been produced and the remedy can be performed. " I wonder how many other Toyota owners are still out there waiting for "another notification," which may or may not be sent to them. I hope Toyota is being held accountable regarding getting the notifications to Toyota owners in a timely manner. I don't think the company did that in my case.
Takata recall. My 2007 Toyota Corolla was recalled, and brought it to. Poway Toyota dealership. They replaced air bag inflator front passenger. The car has 117,492 miles. It was done but there's a light that comes on after the installation. I asked the service advisor and he said it's not related to the recall. I don't know about this, so I declined the airbag diagnosis. It's been1. 5 years, and now I decided to bring the car back to the dealership to fix this issue. Have an appointment in 2 days, and I'm wondering if I am entitled for reimbursement from the takata recall, for this issue. I appreciate any corrective action you may provide regarding this issue.
2007 Toyota Corolla. Consumer writes in regards to manufacturer unable to remedy front passenger airbag inflator recall defect within a reasonable time frame. The consumer sent pictures of the vehicle which was in an accident. The pictures showed the passenger air bag deployed, despite the fact, the damage was on the driver's side. The consumer stated the air bag issue was never rectified.
Today, I received a recall notice on this car for the front passenger airbag inflator model. The notice said that no remedy was yet available. I called the Toyota dealer and they verified this and said they did not know when a remedy would be available. The notice advises that nobody should sit on the passenger side of the car until the inflator module is replaced. Injuries and death have occurred when the airbag improperly deploys. This makes it difficult for my wife and I to drive the car without fear for our safety, my other car is a 2004 Honda civic which has also been recalled for, first, the passenger side airbag inflator module and, then, for the airbag inflator module on the driver's side. I've been waiting 4 months for the dealer to get the replacement parts for the driver's side, since the airbags for both cars seem to have been manufactured by takata, it seems to me likely that the Toyota will also, some day, be recalled again for the front airbag inflator module. I am complaining because it seems to me obvious that I have been driving 2 unsafe cars since the time I purchased them. Considering the danger of injury or death, it does not seem to me that the recalls are not being handled by Toyota or Honda in a timely manner with proper concern for the safety of the drivers and passengers of these cars. Honda did finally respond by replacing the passenger side module in April of this year, at the same time telling me I would have to wait indefinitely to replace the driver's side module. Finally, I am scheduled to have the driver's side replaced on sept. 3. Toyota can give me no date for the replacement of the passengers side and assures me that the driver's side is ok . I am doubtful.
We received a recall notice on our Corolla today stating that the air bag may deploy and cause the inflator to rupture, potentially causing serious injury or death to the vehicle occupants. However, according to the recall, we do not live in a priority geographic location to receive an immediate repair and will have to wait until enough parts are available. Toyota's suggestion in the meantime is to have no one to sit in the passenger seat. We have been advised to file a complaint if we believe that Toyota has failed to remedy that effect within a reasonable time. Our family does not own an additional vehicle that will accommodate our family, so we feel this is an unreasonable alternative for Toyota to offer (to merely have someone not sit in the passenger's seat. ) we are dumbfounded that Toyota would send a recall advising us of this potentially life threatening issue with no solution for their customers all over the country. We are now forced to potentially endanger the life of someone in our family as we have no other vehicle that will fit our family.
I received a notification from Toyota yesterday regarding the recall for passenger side airbags. The recall letter says that the inflator can rupture "striking the vehicle occupants potentially resulting in serious injury or death. " it says the repairs should be performed immediately and that the front passenger seat should not be occupied. After contacting my Toyota dealership, I learned that I cannot be seen for almost 3 months to get the necessary repairs completed. I contacted the customer experience center to file a complaint and they suggested I contact the local dealership for a rental. The dealership reports they are not giving rentals (even on an as needed basis) due to the sheer numbers of recalls they are handling. I am severly concerned that such a strongly worded recall went out reporting that the "occupants" (not one) could be injured related to this defect and yet there is a 3 month delay in repairing my vehicle. It appears that this issue is related to humidity and I live on the gulf coast where it is always humid and moist. It is distressing to me that I am now expected make arrangements with other people or another vehicle if I need to transport five people in my (as I did this weekend with my nieces and nephews). It is annoying that any other passenger would be expected to ride in the back and hope that they are not one of the occupants affected by metal fragments that could pass through the airbag. While I am certain this is very difficult for Toyotal to manage, it is disappointing to me that it is acceptable for me to be allowed to drive this car for an additional 3 months knowing the risk. I am hoping that someone can look into how Toyota is handling the recall and if they are seriously taking into consideration the safety of those who were unlucky enough to choose Toyota years ago (a mistake I will not make in the future).
I received a letter from Toyota in June of 2015 informing me that the front passenger airbag inflator module was being recalled and until it could be fixed, they recommended not operating the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat. Approximately five months have passed and the parts to fix the defect are still unavailable, which I believe to be an unreasonably long time frame given the safety risks this defect presents.
There is a safety recall on the front passenger air bag inflators. The recall was back in may 2015. I still to this day January 31 st 2016 have not had this taken care of. Called the dealer back in 2015 about this matter , and was told when they have the part they will contact me. This has not been done.
Takata recall - I have a safety recall notice for the front passenger airbag inflator module, telling me that I will be contacted when the "sufficient parts have been produced and the remedy can be performed. " this letter is about a year old. I want to know why I have never been contacted and/or why this problem has not been addressed. This is unacceptable, and frankly a crime it itself. The letter goes on to say, "until the remedy becomes available in your location, we recommend that you do not operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat. " thus I have no ability to use this car for transporting my family due to the fact that this air bag could potentially kill the front seat passenger. . . I would like an explanation as to why I continue to be inconvenienced by a recall that is not being addressed.
