Vehicle speed control / sudden unintended acceleration. This was not a "misapplication of pedal" by driver! it was clearly a mechanical failure—apparently accelerator pedal (not floor mat, which was secured on its pegs). No warning lamp, msg, symptom prior to crash. Afterward, saw NHTSA rpts others fixed speed control issue & same prob still recurred! my VIN wasn't listed as unrepaired (likely the original owner repaired recall issue/s)—yet car was still dangerous! at slow speed, approx 1-2 mph, I was entering my garage in usual way, turning r. Car abruptly sped up uncontrollably (self-accelerated); couldn't stop it! crashed thru garage doorpost & wall, then backyard fence. Lucky I'm alive & no one in yard. Very traumatic! physical injury (neck/back) helped by ibuprofen. Fwiw air bag didn't deploy. Aaa said they'd only tow for repair, not inspection. I wasn't going to repair; I'd never trust driving that car again & wouldn't sell to anyone to drive, due to grave concern same issue'd recur! available for inspection at picknpull, moss landing, CA. Pnp corp agreed they'd haul away only for its other parts—order taker understood it had untrusted accelerator pedal / vehicle speed control. They also promised me they wouldn't let anyone drive it! of 2009 Corolla NHTSA's 1,523 rpts, "vehicle speed control" is 3rd highest, far > nearly all other rpts. Below, a few of many related examples. (note: dates may be either report or incident dates. ) 10/26/21 NHTSA #11438174; 5/31/17 #10992371; 7/16/16 #10885246 ("car was repaired under recall. . . Still an issue with unintended acceleration. ); 6/3/16, #10872355; 10/2/14 #10640760 ("vehicle was repaired, but failure recurred"); 9/30/14 #10640098; 9/25/14 #10639073; 11/16/13 #10552563; 3/4/12 #10450183; 2/10/12 #10450183 ("already had all of Toyota's "recall" remedies";) 1/29/12 #10447756; 6/22/10 #10343426 (recall work had been done); 6/23/10 #10340943 (work had been done); 6/6/10 #10339969; 5/18/10 #10330952.

My driver’s side window controls are slowly falling into the doors. I read where there was a recall online, but I have never received any paperwork. I am the original owner and have had all work done at various Toyota’s for 13 years now. Will I be able to have a dealer fix this? thank you,.
Rumbling noise under the hood coming from the engine ,check engine light is on, at a slowing down speed the car starts vibrating and makes the rumbling noise under the hood!! unsafe to drive !! car went to the dealer williams Honda - several times back to check the code and to fix the problems!! we had to bring this complaint with the management and better business bureau, we are requested a compensation from a dealer for selling unsafe vehicle to us, we complained about this whole matter in details to better business bureau, we requested a monetary compensation $500. We are requesting from new york state department of motor vehicles: to help and assist us to collect compensation of $500 from a dealer williams Honda that is in elmira new york.
Vehicle stops running while on the street, freeway & at stops. Has to turn off engine & then it restarts. Have taken several times to Toyota dealer in cerritos, CA & to our mechanic & nothing is found at the time they check it out.
The rubber seal from the wind sheald is flying off also the back window same problem.
Nada.
Takada recall. I received a notice about this recall monthes ago but Toyota has not offered a remedy yet. All indications are that my car has dangerous airbags and I need this car and drive it daily. Please help.
I received a letter in the mail concerning Toyota recalls. I went to the website given and searched my VIN number and it says there are five recalls on my vehicle. I will contact the number so that I can have the issues resolved.
A 2009 car that was regularly maintained (including regular oil changes) with less than 35,000 miles allegedly needs a new drive train?!?!?!?!!!!.
I had no problems with my vehicle after driving it for about 110k miles to the work and leisure, but it suddenly started "jerking" I took it to a transmission shop where no results came back after connecting it to a diagnosis computer. The jerking problem increased, and the transmission solenoids were replaced as well as an oil change was done. Problem was not fixed. I've been doing some research, and seems the transmission for this specific car model has been failing. Very expensive fix, and I guess to replace to another "faulty" transmission for this model of vehicle.
Takata recall - dealer was contacted but no parts available June/1/2015 unintended acceleration at a security gate when braking to approach gate arm. 04/24/2017.
I was in the parking lot trying to turn around when my car accelerators and crashes into mi rancho restaurant in silver spring, maryland. This is the second incident with this type of issue . The first time was December 4, 2011 in giant parking lot as I was parking it accelerated and hit the pole . Please there is a issue with this car and it is very unsafe because I have two granddaughter who could have be in the car with me at the time of this accident.
My 2009 Corolla experienced issues identical to a prior recall circa 2010 for '05-'08 Corolla & matrix models regarding engine control modules (ecm) that may have been improperly manufactured. On 3/30/16, the check engine light turned on and my vehicle experienced harsh shifting and struggled for gas. Vehicle was in motion with over a 1/4 tank of gas on a residential street at the time. On 3/31/16, I had the vehicle towed to my local Toyota dealership. Diagnostics were run and ecm fault codes were identified. Service associates working on my Corolla addressed their concerns and were repeatedly denied requests for a replacement ecm. At one point, I was advised by Toyota dealership staff to personally order an ecm unit through the parts dept. , insisting that the request coming directly from a customer would not be denied. I attempted to place an order with parts, and that request later was denied. After several re-tests and denied requests for a replacement ecm, my vehicle received a replacement tail light bulb (what I refer to as a "band-aid" fix) and was released back to me on 4/5/16. The very next morning (4/6/16), check engine light came back on and vehicle was brought in. Once again, codes tied to the ecm were identified. After another week of tests, denied ecm fix requests, and another band-aid repair, the vehicle was released back to me on 4/14/16. During this two-week ordeal, I incurred over $540 in rental car expenses and $186 in "band-aid" repairs, despite the fact that ecm issues were identified from the beginning. I have opened 2 cases with Toyota customer experience center to address this ecm issue with my 2009 Corolla, the prior 2010 recall, and have requested that my VIN be incorporated into the recall. So far, Toyota has denied any responsibility, insisting that their ecms don't fail, offering no assistance for issues they deem off-warranty/off-recall.
Car was taken in for oil change at mileage due and Toyota dealership stated oil dipstick was totally dry and to check it at halfway mark of miles. Car is not due yet for oil change until about 95,000 miles and at halfway mark oil was already down to last mark on dipstick. Car was taken to Toyota and they stated 2009 Corolla was not part of limited service campaign of other vehicles exhibiting same problems as my car. Dealer said to just add oil in between changes and I explained that car should not be consuming oil at this stage and they agreed but stated I would have to cover repairs which might cost between $2,000-3,000 because of car not being part of campaign with other makes which were also having same problem with excessive oil consumption at around same mileage. I started oil consumption test so that it would be on record. If other owners are having same problem, 2009 Toyota Corolla should be included in limited service campaign of excessive oil consumption as it was included for most of the other recalls and campaigns. I have looked online and seen many others with same make model and year with same complaints and dealer does nothing to fix problem.

Vehicle was in motion when the driver's side door started smoking and eventually burst into flames. Fire rescue was called but we managed to put out the fire with water before they arrived. This happened on 2/19/16 and to date Toyota is yet to send someone to look at the vehicle. I am at my wits end with Toyota.
Started engine, then while idling a loud squealing noise appearing to sound from the power steering, upon close observation notice coolant fluid all over the serpentine belts and the alternator. The battery would die and water residual all over the place all indication points to a busted water pump from the mechanics. The car only got 70,000 miles. Have 5 months left on car loan and no money for repairs and don't know if engine still works.
I took my Corolla to the 75k miles services, but at the 76k when I was driving the engine start making noise. I opened the hood and I was surprised to see that the water cooler tank was almost empty. I took my car again totoyota service center and they said that the cooler pump is leaking so I have to change it and the repair will cost around $500. 00. My 09 Toyota Corolla's water pump is busted and I thought all along that Corolla are supposed to be the best?. This really annoying issue, with only 75,000 miles on the car the water pump shouldn't be all ready worn out !.
Driver's side mirror plastic holding snapped that keeps mirror in the open/ closed position. Due to the plastic holding being snapped, the mirror wobbles and does not stay in the open position. It makes driving very dangerous with the lack of a mirror to turn and merge safely. As speeds increase, the force of the wind will force the mirror into the closed position making the mirror useless.
Driver's door lock does not lock/unlock when pressing the lock/unlock button on the key fob and pressing the lock/unlock button on the driver's door and passengers door.
I was driving and was close to my destination when I hear something go wrong. I park at my destination and I see a pool of what I think was coolant on the ground. It also felt like it was overheating so I did not want to risk the car blowing up so I had it towed. The problem was that the water pump ceased which caused the serpentine belt to also break. I searched online and found this to be a common problem and I am surprised that there have not been any recalls.
2 recalls that I have received through the mail. Im afraid driving on the freeway as they mention that when the light show on airbags 6 sections we can get into an accident due to airbags bursting out.
While traveling NW on hwy 99 through merced CA at 08:30 am Nov. 9, 2014, I experienced a sudden acceleration of my car while in cruise mode going up the ramp just at the NW edge of merced. It continued to accelerate till the rpm guage was into the red. At the same time, I was very tense, maneuvering in traffic while applying the brakes in an effort to slow down or stop, which heated up until they were barely working. I shut the motor off while in drive and turned it back on a few times and each time the engine went right into high rev mode again. I finally put the transmission into n and shut the engine off and coasted to the side of the road about a mile or so from where the problem started, regained my composure and allowed the car to sit a few minutes. I tried the engine starter and things seemed normal again so I cautiously exited the highway about a 1/4 mile from where I had stopped. Things continued to act normally so I came back home 18 miles and had no more problems. What do I do with this car? keep driving it this way? take it back to Toyota? they did the recall repair for this problem already, yet now this!! very troubling!.
Driving on interstate and suddenly check battery light and check engine light came on and temp indicated vehicle was hot. Pulled over as soon as able to safely do so.
After the air bag warning light turned on, I was notified that I had to replace the spiral assembly in the driver's side air bag. Almost immediately after replacing, Toyota announced a recall for this specific part in 2009 Corollas, but are claiming that my 2009 Corolla is not included in the recall.
The other vehicle was slowing or stopping for the traffic light. I was slowly approaching the other vehicle. I don't know why, but for some reason my vehicle accelerated. I was unable to stop, and my car ran into the back of the other vehicle.
In 2013, we discovered that my 2009 Toyota Corolla s was using excessive oil. We reported this to our local dealership service department and they added a note to my service record, but nothing was done about it. Since we always have our service done there, and I have the oil changed long before it's due, we don't normally check the oil ourselves. However, while washing the car on Sunday, 03/08/2015, my husband checked it and had to put in 1-1/2 quarts of oil. On Monday, 03/09/2015, I took the car in for an oil change and apprised the service department again of the excessive oil use. They again made a note to my service record. The service tech told me she had had a lot of cars in with the same problem and that Toyota did not have a fix for it. She said mine was not one listed as having this problem, but it is. She also stated that they had to put in 1-1/2 quarts of oil. I was advised to bring it back in for a check at the next 1,100 miles. The worst part is that my car was still under warranty when first reported. Warranty has now expired so if my engine blows I could be looking at thousands of dollars to have my engine replaced!!!!! shame on you, Toyota!!! I thought I had purchased a trustworthy vehicle from a trustworthy manufacturer!.
Well, there was a very loud rattle noise when starting engine (cold engine) I took car to puente hills, CA Toyota dealership as they told me it was a camshaft gear assembly known issue in the Toyotas 2009. They charged me about $179. 00 for labor as the car was still under warranty. The problem continued and goes away once in a while, but continues after all. I just took car back to same dealer, as they told me that it will cost about $872. 15 to fix problem. I would like to know if there's a recall or any other legal remedies I could take in this matter.
I was backing up in a parking lot with my foot on the brake and my car just sped backwards and I rammed into a pole. My entire trunk was smashed in. I had to have it replaced and it still leaks water as of today. I paid approximately $2k to $3k to have it fixed. This all happened before I know about the acceleration problem.
After Toyota recalled and worked on my gas pedal, it got stuck once, which literally caused me to bump slightly into a car in front of me) then escalated on its own sporadically. One dealer agent told me would submit paperwork and it would take an hour to check, and the gas pedal would be replaced. When I tried to bring the car to be checked and worked on, he said not come till he called when he was ready. For 1-2 weeks he never called. When I went to ask, they said the car was not to be worked on for a while. I called customer service to change to another dealership. This dealership asked me to wait for 2 weeks, and said would need to keep my car for two weeks to check. I called twice but no one called back. I finally went to a dealership where I happened to be near where I worked one day. They checked to make sure my car was okay at least then. I asked them help me put my carpet in place as after detailing the first dealership did not put them back in order as they were wet. This dealership put hook on my carpet to make sure they were in place as I did not have the hook as they were supposed to be, and advised me to call customer service, not knowing I have already called and they were referring me to dealership that took forever. I was by another dealership where I worked the next day. They checked, and ordered the gas pedal immediately. In just 2-3 days they told me they had the part and had me over and got my car fixed. The carpet in the driver seat is fixed, but not the others yet. The gas pedal of my car was a risk to the safety of me and my car and other people and cars around me. The delay of the first two dealerships and customer service seem to not care for the urgent need for the pedal to be replaced immediately to ensure absolute safety. The latter two dealership were helpful to spot the problem of my carpet and took preventive measure immediately, and then got the gas pedal replaced immediately. Should take care of problem better.
This is a follow up to a previous complaint. I felt compelled to do so after reading other issues people were having with there Toyota Corollas (s). I purchased this car June 1st 2009. Three weeks after purchase I noticed something was wrong with the paint. I took it to the dealers, the service dept manager looked at it and said it was due to the environment, the sales guy told me it was due to tree sap and the third time I took it the sales manager said it was from bird crap ( it's garaged most of the time). Weeks later I was hit by a concrete truck, at first thought it was the trucks fault but not real sure now because of the difficult steering with this car. At the time of the accident there was no air bag deployment. I had the car repaired by a private shop, they couldn't understand why the airbag did not deploy. While my car was there they looked at the paint. I have a black car with large white spots and was told there was a problem with the clear coat and it would cost around 4,000 to fix it. I again went to the dealership and was told this time that's what happens when you buy a black car. I have filed a complaint with Toyota and we all know where that has got me. I filed a complaint with the consumer complaint agency and Toyota failed to respond. Boy, for a reliable care the only thing I can rely on is poor quality and a death trap. I have a Dodge and will drive it before this death trap. Good luck trying to do a lane change and looking into the blind spots. I have almost hit cars on my right while attempting to do a lane change more times than I can count.
I bought a 2009 Toyota Corolla in Nov. 2008. I have complained to the dealer that the steering was loose(floats in and out of lane) hard to drive. Also about mpg 27 highway. I brought the car in for inspections on four occasions. I was basicly "blown off".
