The car speed variable when I try speed up became slow or sometimes it speed up one time it stops in the middle of rail crossing and completely stop then I moved out and the car pushed up other side and the car accelerated not working properly nod the fuel system also I have big doubt about this car!.
Vehicles with delco ecm have a common issue where the fuel injectors leak into the cylinder causing engine to loose compression. The lowered compression causes hard start (if able to start at all) and if and when it starts the vehicle emits a cloud of white smoke for several minutes. When vehicle is in drive the engine idles hunts constantly. Engine stalls while driving making braking and steering very difficult and dangerous. Ecm has been replaced but unfortunately the damage is done to the engine and needs a rebuild. Multiple vehicles have reported this issue from 2009 - 2013 Toyota Corolla ranging from 100 miles - 179,000 miles. It doesn't seem to have any different effect with mileage or maintenance.
While traveling NW on hwy 99 through merced CA at 08:30 am Nov. 9, 2014, I experienced a sudden acceleration of my car while in cruise mode going up the ramp just at the NW edge of merced. It continued to accelerate till the rpm guage was into the red. At the same time, I was very tense, maneuvering in traffic while applying the brakes in an effort to slow down or stop, which heated up until they were barely working. I shut the motor off while in drive and turned it back on a few times and each time the engine went right into high rev mode again. I finally put the transmission into n and shut the engine off and coasted to the side of the road about a mile or so from where the problem started, regained my composure and allowed the car to sit a few minutes. I tried the engine starter and things seemed normal again so I cautiously exited the highway about a 1/4 mile from where I had stopped. Things continued to act normally so I came back home 18 miles and had no more problems. What do I do with this car? keep driving it this way? take it back to Toyota? they did the recall repair for this problem already, yet now this!! very troubling!.
I was driving back home and slowed down with the intention of stopping at a traffic intersection. My brakes did not engage at the normal level of pressure that I use, and I had to press it all the way down. When the brake was slammed all the way down the brakes did engage, but the engine started revving up and the rpm meter was to its maximum. I did not take my foot off the brakes because I knew if I did, the car would have travelled at 120mph. I immediately pulled the handbrake lever up, changed the gear to park, and switched off the ignition. I am just happy to be alive today, and am very thankful for my presence of mind. I immediately called a tow truck and towed the car to the nearest Toyota dealership. We did take the car to the dealership a week back to do a software upgrade and a couple of other recalls, and the unintended acceleration that I experienced happened a week after that. Toyota after their investigation concluded that the brake and the accelerator were engaged at the same time. They are essentially saying that my 5. 5 shoe size foot was both on the brake and the accelerator pedal at the same time. I did look at my foot to make sure that it was indeed on the brakes when the car was revving up. So I can say with 100% certainty that my foot was only on the brake and the brake pedal was slammed all the way down. Like in previous cases e. G. Oklahoma court case, Toyota is blaming the driver when in fact, the software responsible for throttle control was clearly shown to have over 85000 bugs by expert testimony given in the oklahoma case. If not for my presence of mind, I would certainly have been dead yesterday, and I am still in shock and awe recovering from the incident.
Gas intake pipe cracked so warning light shows on dash. Toyota won't fix as past the three years from date we bought it, wonder if a fire could happen?.
2009 Toyota Corolla - 14,000 miles February 8, 2010 tried to start car. It was firing up but not turning over. Turned key off. It was still firing up. It stopped within a few seconds. This happened several times the same day - unable to start the car. February 9, 2010 - in the morning, tried to start the car - it fired up but did not turn over. Kept firing up when key was turned off. Tried again and it started. Took it to the dealer and they cleaned the fuel injectors. Question - could this be related to the accelerator problem?.
I pushed on the gas pedal to pass another car . When I did the gas pedal started accelerating to a higher and higher speed. I kept patting on the gas pedal with rapid hits , until it finally un stuck. It finally released but it took some effort. My next step would have been to turn off the key. The rpm's on the motor went very high. I new if I put the car in neutral I would have blown the motor. The rpm's would have red lined for sure. It hasn't done it since but it is frightening to say the least. I know for a fact , the floor matt had nothing to do with it !!!! period!.
