1 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2013

The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle slipped out of gear and failed to go back into drive. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic. The technician diagnosed that it was a shift failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 86,000 and the current mileage was 112,000.

2 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2009

The car violently jerks out of drive into neutral for no reason whatsoever. This happened on more than one occurrence and a case was opened by our local dealership with Toyota who claimed that "a transmission cannot fail in one of those cars". The module on the transmission was re-calibrated once, as required by a previous service bulletin. I was told to come back when the vehicle slipped out of gear again. I did not feel safe in this car, so I traded it in at the first option I had.
