1 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2020

Car suddenly all the dashboard lights came on at once brake lights, abs lights, power steering lights, and speedometer. I've been to the dealership they ripped me off said they had no clue what was wrong.

2 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2020

The vsc light is flashing, the traction control warning light is on as well as the check engine light. The traction control button does not work either now. I plugged in an obd scanner and got a c1201 error code which we were not able to clear. I don't recall if we were moving, parked out just turned the car on when the lights started but they will not shut off when the car is running.

3 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2020

The vsc, traction control warning light on the dash will not go off. It continuously flashes and the check engine light starts on as well. I've done everything possible to get it to go off, including having a certified mechanic check it, to no avail. Therefore, I'm assuming I have no reaction control whatsoever as it keeps flashing "traction control off".

4 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2018

Braking sensor/skid light comes on at random, then occasionally the engine starts braking in traffic, and sometimes threatens to quit, needing to pull off of highway and keep restarting car until I get a smooth sound. (1st time light came on, I skidded on a small patch of ice, the alarm went off, the light came on, and I couldn't figure out what was going on, sure didn't need to warn me I went for a skid, already knew that, didn't like being scared to death by the noise).

5 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2017

When the vehicle is sitting stationary and turned off for any given length of time in weather that is below freezing and then the ignition switch is then turned on, abs, vsc, and traction control lights come on and none of their corresponding functions are operable. Tires go into full lock up skid without abs and there is no vsc or traction control. The problem will not cease until the part causing the problem has reached a temperature of above approximately 32 degrees fahrenheit. The problem may cease while driving or when stationary, but the consistent point at which it is remedied is when the outside temperature is above 32 degrees fahrenheit.

6 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2017

"takata recall" I was in an accident in my 2010 Toyota Corolla exiting a major interstate on 07/07/2017. The off ramp had a very sharp curve where I lost control (possibly a failure in the stability control system?) and was traveling at around 45mph. I went into a spin and the left rear of my car hit the guardrail, spinning out still my car then hit the guardrail head-on causing the front end to collapse into the motor cavity. The airbags did not deploy causing bruising to my shoulder and abdomen areas. My neck and back were injured causing me to be immobile for a couple of weeks. I have had cat-scans and mri's trying to find out what my injuries are. I have to go to pain management to deal with the everyday pain and my life has been affected greatly. I informed Toyota about the airbags and they seemed very concerned. The are investigating the issue and sent out a company called bosch to download information from the cdr box. I am still waiting on Toyota's answer to this problem. I was never aware of this recall as I had purchased the car pre-owned from a Toyota dealership October of 2015. I also reported the airbag lights going off and on along with other electrical problems to two different Toyota dealerships along with allstate insurance company, my provider.

7 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2017

I haven't followed up on rcmn-10v017-5275 as I hadn't noticed a problem living in an area with level streets. However, when trying to park or leave a parking space on an incline or decline it is a problem. When moving in or out of a parking, I noticed that my gas pedal is very sensitive. It lurches my car quickly forward. This is not about my parking technique. Someone else familiar with parking on these streets is concerned about the car's acceleration. Is this issue related to needing a remedy to the above recall notice. If yes, can I get this fixed for free even though my notice has expired? what do you suggest.

8 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2017

My car suddenly turn on most of the dash lights: brake, abs, power steering, and the speedometer , temperature gauge, revolution gauge and air conditioner stop working. The vehicle was stationary when all tis problems stated start to happen.

9 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2016

The driver door caught on fire while I was driving.

10 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2016

I am the owner of a 2010 Toyota Corolla, whose VIN number 1nxbu4ee6az209127. That car had a low mileage when I brought to germain Toyota in naples, florida, to fix any problem at that time that had caused the ¿ engine light¿ to appear on the dash. I was told that the ¿gas cap¿ was the problem and that I needed to replace it; I followed their recommendation. But, one day after the same light appeared again. Disappear; therefore, I decided not to come back for that same thing. Recently, in several occasions the car suddenly stopped working while I was driving it both in local and highway 75 without any warning or sign that such thing was going to happen: ¿the gas pedal just goes to zero, that means the pressure went quickly and suddenly to no pressure, and three lights are shown on the dash. ¿ thank god, I am still alive! I took the car to germain Toyota, they had urged me to replace the ¿battery,¿ which I did. The problem resurfaced the day after. The second time, they asked me to replace the ¿ecu,¿ which I did. That costed me more than $800, close to $900. The three lights reappeared after two days. I came brought the car back to germain Toyota, they told me that it was another thing that caused the problem. Last week, the first week of December, I brought it back to them for the same lights, and they told me to replace again the ¿gas cap,¿ I paid another money, but the same problem continues to go on and on and persist every week. The dealer refuses to acknowledge and accept that it is a factory defect. Those things happened both in streets and highway I-75. I do not feel safe to continue to drive it anymore, and I do not want to sell it to place someone else¿s life in peril. Therefore, I ask your department for help. I cannot keep on spending almost every week for the same problem. I thank you in advance!.

11 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2016

The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Corolla. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle swayed left and right without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it could not be diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 107,200.

12 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2015

Check engine and vsc lights blinking. Hangs up in third gear. Had code pulled. Shift sylenoid closed. This seems to be an ongoing problem with these cars. Dealerships just give you the runaround. Problem is caused by the failing ecu. This has been going on for years and no recall. This is not only a headache to drive but also unsafe.

13 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2013

Car spinned out of control crossing three lanes , the steering wheel was hard to control spinning right and left as I struggled to maintain control the vehicle .

14 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2011

At approxamately 0600 on the above date I experienced a violent and near uncontrolable momentary disrupture of the abs/esc systems of my 2010 Toyota Corolla. Vehicle shook violently, steering locked and abs and esc control lights on dash lit up while I was making the trasition from ih37 south to ih35 south in san antonio, TX. I was able to regain control by letting off of the brakes and throttle thus coasting through the left hand turn and bearly missing the retaining wall. This is not the first time this has happened, the first was only days after purchase of car. Local dealer maintenance personnel stated "we can't find anything wrong with the car. " during the warrenty period the problem has been brought to the attention of mccollums Toyota five other times all with the same "we can't find anything wrong" reply. Conplaints of soft brake pedal brought a simular "that's normal" retort each time the vehicle was in for service. After the warrenty expired, front rotors and pads were replaced because they were found to have worn/groved approxamately 1/8" deep per side (not reported by dealer), not from metal to metal contact but just wear from pads friction material. Pads still had 1/2" of fricion material on each. Replacement of rotors and pads from auto zone made things better until now. Request abs/esc software be checked on all 2008 to 2012 Corolla/sion tc models along with check of materials used in pads and the rotors. Oem rotors taken off car will be available until 15 Jan 2012. 36,000 miles on a set of rotors and pads are a little extreme when I have over 125,000 on my gm's rotors and 165,000 on my Ford's rotors with pads needing replacement around 45 to 55 k.

15 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2010

Vehicle purchased with 7,418 miles on it. While driving at a speed of 50mph and above the vehicle will wander without turning the steering wheel. Constant steering correction is required to keep vehicle straight. Vehicle steering wheel is very out of sync with vehicle wheels when driving from a stand still and moving at a very slow speed and turning.

16 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2010

I bought a Toyota Corolla 2010 le on 04/03/2010, and when I drove it on the freeway first time, I was shocked/scared the way was steering/handling. I almost had two accidents with it because of the steering issue. When I drove it on the freeway I saw that the car is loosing balance (the back car shakes), I found stability problems (as if I drive in strong winds), and big steering problems (as I learn to drive a tricky bicycle). To get and maintain an almost control on the car direction I have to focus my actions as my Corolla has only two wheels like a bike. I almost act as an equilibrate for a rope dancing. The experience of driving my Corolla showed that I have limited control over it, and most control I lost when I had to use sudden brakes at high speed - it was like on the ice. Back jumps and I stir in same direction; back jumps again in the other direction and I change the steering in the other direction too, and so on. These events occur almost every time I drove with speed around 60 miles/hour on the freeways that are not straight. The consequence is that I am afraid to drive my new car because I am not able to control it, and I risk an accident. I went to Toyota dealer, they said that they know the situation from other customers too, but nothing they can do about it. Please investigate this issues until is not too late, and people make accidents and injure. Thank you.

17 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2010

While driving my Corolla, even I do not hit the gas pedal, the rpm stays around 2000 and sometimes it started to stuck around 3000 rpm for 15 to 30 seconds than goes to normal. I had difficulty to slow down in busy traffic, because even I hit the brakes it does not cut the gas so the engine still tries to run and the car still tends to go, so I am not able to slow down or it takes time to slow down. I am driving my Toyota in the 5th gear and around 3000 rpm. When I need a sudden stop, I let go the gas pedal and hit the brake. The etcs commands high idle even I hit the breaks; the pistons are still working (the engine is still running in gear) with 3000 rpm so I am not able to slow down or stop. This is a serious safety problem. How come ecm would command for high idle from time to time? how can I stop the car or slow down in need while ecm is commanding high idle? it is impossible to have a proper control on the car when ecm commands high idle. Who can give me guarantee that it would not get stuck in higher idles? (because it used to stuck around 2000 rpm and right now it also started sticking around 3000 rpm). When I get close to a curb or to an exit I stop hitting the gas pedal assuming the car will get slow but since it sticks at high rpms the car does not get slower when it is in the gear.

18 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2010

Toyota 2010 Corolla brake system failed. The emergency brake went on , while I was driving without me doing anything. The odometer stopped working, brake, check-engine, panic mode and airbag system lights went on. The failure has occurred twice already, first starting as a brake failure, then almost leading to the accident when everything failed at once. Almost got into an accident and I couldn't accelerate in the car. I took the car to the dealership and they gave me run around, they still don't know how to fix it or what's wrong with it. This car is beyond unsafe to drive, luckily it didn't lead to an accident and injuries both to me and other drivers.

19 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2010

Toyota Corolla s 2010 [xxx] with extra stabilizer bar kit, purchased 11-30-09 with delivery in 12/09. 1) approximately 1 month after purchase ,the car starting to veer sharply right then left when driving on the highway, it was/is difficult to control requiring a tight grip on the wheel. It feels like strong winds are moving the car but winds are absent and road conditions are normal. This event comes and goes unexpectedly, generally lasts the duration of my commute once started, sometimes occurs with the tire pressure gauge but not always, sometimes occurs after rapid braking. It does not feel like an alignment or balance problem, the car darts from one end of the lane, to the median of the lane on its own. On this date 2-24-10 my local dealership filled the tires, and made a slight change to the left alignment they could not duplicate the problem and stated "this could be a matter of personal preferences" regarding how I felt the car drove when this occurred. The Toyota manager also told me today that they understand "there could be a problem but they have no direction on how to repair it. " when asked then if he could guarantee my safety and that this would not occur again he stated no, but there was nothing for him to do. No injuries to date. I do not feel Toyota is making reasonable efforts to quickly eliminate this problem, acknowledge a problem, and do not wish to resolve this with statements regarding my personal preference for the drive, and since this in their opinion is not reproducible for them it is not a viable problem for them to repair. 2) on approximately 2-11-10 I had to use my brakes in an emergency situation in which my brakes were temporally non-response. I had to downshift the gears, remove my foot totally from the gas pedal ,and maneuvered the car away from the other stopped car. No abs was felt, the brake pedal was depressed fully, this occurred at hwy speeds. No acknowledgement of problem or remedy proposed by toy currently.

20 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2010

I have felt that there is a problem with the brakes of my 2010 Toyota Corolla since shortly after I bought it. The brakes vibrate or pulsate without warning. It seems that the abs is activated for no reason. I am not stopping short and the road has not been slippery . I brought the car to the dealer and they claimed that there is nothing wrong with the brakes. Another problem I have noticed with the brakes is that they seem to grind when I am braking over bumpy surfaces. It happens with out warning, I never know when it will occur. I called the dealer and the mechanic said it is just the abs, nothing to worry about. The problem seem similar to the prius brake complaints. Finally, I notice that sometimes as I am stopping that the brakes seem to slip a little but then take hold.

21 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2010

22 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2009

Purchased a new 2010 Corolla 4-door sedan s; immediately a problem with the brakes and steering was noticed upon first long drive. When depressed the brakes would go all the way to the floor. Steering the car in a straight line down the freeway was almost impossible without constant corrections, I call it nervous steering, which after more than 50 miles because very stressful and tiring. Purchase date 8-22-09. The vehicle was returned to the nearest Toyota dealership located in victorville, California early sept 09. The brakes were examined and after certain corrections the brake pedal is better but not perfect. As for the steering. . The technician says it's within normal parameters. . . What every that means. There is definitely a defect with the steering system; after reviewing the vehicle brochure regarding the steering system it reads "electric power steering (eps) helps gives Corolla steering response that's effortlessly accurate" however nothing could more from the truth. It's been my experience after 7000 miles on the odometer. . . That when steering the car down the highway. . . The car will literally leave the lane your driving in which requires steering correction to keep it in the driving lane you're traveling. The brochure further reads that "eps also eliminates hydraulic-assist components that can reduce fuel economy" however I would say at what cost. . . If this new system renders the steering process a very nervous and tiring experience for the driver. A fatigued driver is an unsafe driver. . . I credit the fault with this new system "eps" as a potential disaster waiting to happen. It's my assessment after owning this vehicle now 6 months. . . That Toyota needs to revisit this "eps" system and consider returning to the former hydraulic-assist components. . . It may more costly for them to build. . . But at least it worked. I bought this car because it had a reputation for safety and reliability however it's been the absolute worst purchase ever imagined.
