2 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2024

On Monday, [xxx], I was at the cvs pharmacy drive through when the failure occurred. There was no accident and otherwise no warning before it happened. I attempted to pull out when I noticed the car was drifting and the steering was extremely stiff. I looked down to see that the airbag light and brake light were both on. I coasted into a spot I happened to be aligned with. As I did, I felt the brakes and steering stiffen even more until they were almost 100% seized. (kind of felt like I was fighting hydraulic fluid. ) you guys are welcome to request to inspect the vehicle. I haven't been able to get it inspected, because the Toyota dealership wants me to pay a diagnostic fee to prove the airbag light came on due to the airbag assembly for them to be able to cover the work under the extended warranty for the airbag system. There was no accident. I thankfully didn't have any speed behind me. So, I just barely had enough brakes to stop. This also means that I didn't make an insurance claim or call the police. I did get a tow truck to come out with state farm roadside assistance, though. The vehicle is at my father's house. We far as how this has affected us, I'm never buying a vehicle with electric steering again. At least with traditional power steering, if there's a failure, you can still steer the vehicle, even if it is difficult. If I had been coming down the winding, 6% grade from lake tahoe to carson when it occurred a few nights ago, I wouldn't have been able to stop or steer; I probably would have went into the ravine. Had we been on the highway or even coming down the hill in carson from[xxx] when I lost controls, we could both be dead right now. What's worse is I saw a forum where a bunch of people were talking about this happening to them: losing brakes and steering randomly, while actively driving. A few of them were only at 40k miles. In each case, airbags did not deploy. I think the sensor is causing the crashes sporadically. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5.

I went to a Toyota dealer to get the recall work done(dealer at 2610 forest lane'dallas,TX) they never did the repair and gave me a phone call trying to sell me with $1000+ of bogus repairs. There was nothing wrong with my car,I have a 21point inspecrtion done twice a year by good mechanics--except the red light under the radio stays on and says airbag off. The button to the right of this would say airbags on but it doesnt't work. They never did the the repair. This repair was also something about seatbelt. All they did was try and scam me for $1000.

14 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2018

Takata recall. Stone mountain Toyota has been extremely unresponsive in my efforts to get the takata recall on my vehicle accomplished. My vehicle was purchased at this dealership and they seem to try to delay or impede the process of replacing the affected part. They claim, from the beginning, that I must leave my vehicle with them overnight to get the work done. I know that the actual repair time is 10 minutes and that the dealer has up to 1 1/2 hours to do the work, also, the fact that I made an appointment for the work to be done so that they can schedule the necessary personnel to complete the work should be adequate for them to do the work needed. My appointment was March 26, 2018 at 3:00 pm and when I arrived they informed me that the car had to be left at the dealership overnight. This is unacceptable since I need the vehicle to go to work. They make no effort to complete the repairs in a reasonable time frame. The address for stone mountain Toyota is 4400 us highway 78, lilburn, GA 30047 and their phone number is 770-736-0030.

As a result almost a fatal accident my mother was in the hospital in intensive care for 3 days, me and my nephews with many blows, thank god not very serious. But the people who impacted me as a result of not stopping at the red light, also suffered many injuries. That I have to do? thank you.

28 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2014

On Wednesday, July 30, 2014 I was driving on I-5 south bound, just before cannon road exit. Traffic was going at 35-40 mph, however, at times coming to complete stops. Traffic was very slow ahead so I braked and came near a complete stop. I looked in the rearview mirror and noticed the car behind me approaching at a very high speed, I was constrained on both sides and unable to move to avoid an accident. The car rear-ended me at a high speed and within seconds pushed me at a high speed into the car in front of me, I did brace for the impact but the seatbelt never tensioned or locked and no airbags deployed in my vehicle even though my front end was impacted severely. I put my arms up and twisted my body to the left in order to protect myself. I used my own body as a protection. I am currently being treated for whiplash and shoulder pain due to no active or passive system in the car being deployed. I consider this a very serious safety concern and want to ensure it is addressed as soon as possible to prevent others from having to go through an accident with no active or passive restraints working.

35 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2013

I stopped on a slow going traffic on a highway. Suddenly, a Ford explorer hit me on the back trunk and rear glass damaged suddenly and pushed my car to hit the car in front of me. It damaged the front badly. If I have passengers in the back, it will hurt them badly or sudden death because of the back is not strong which cause the glasses to break and bend the trunk and sun roof. The air bag did not pop up. It is not safe!! my head, neck, back, spinal cord were painful. There were no damage on the Ford explorer. Toyota was easily damage and rolled/pushed to the front car. Please tested the back/trunk/bumper/airbag. Recently about 5 months ago, my 2006 Corolla was hit behind from a Honda accord that was going 5mph after making a stop at a stoplight. My car was badly damaged at the bumper and head lights, while the other car was hardly damaged. This is the 3rd accidents in 4 month with Corolla body parts. After these accidents, I do not want to own another Toyota!! I'm scared for my life.
