On March 12, 2025, I was involved in a frontal collision when another vehicle unexpectedly pulled out in front of me. Impact occurred to the front-left area of my vehicle. Despite the nature of the collision, the front airbags did not deploy. The vehicle is subject to safety recall 20ta03, which addresses incomplete or non-deployment of airbags and/or seat belt pretensioners due to ecu susceptibility to electrical noise in certain crash scenarios. The vehicle was declared a total loss by my insurance company and is no longer available for inspection. The manufacturer was notified in may 2025 and again in November 2025. The manufacturer closed the case citing inability to inspect the vehicle and later relied on photographs only to rule out airbag deployment concerns. No warning lights or messages related to the airbag system were observed prior to the collision. The non-deployment of the airbags placed my safety at risk during a frontal impact.
Electric.
A Toyota owner is frustrated with a faulty navigation system that repeatedly crashes and refuses to update. Despite multiple dealership visits and a customer service call, the issue remains unresolved. The owner argues that the malfunctioning system poses a safety hazard, as it could potentially direct drivers to dangerous roads.
Air bags did not go off during the crash and the seats belt tensioner didn't lock up the seat belt resulting in injury to my self. Radio keeps rebooting.
Radio is not working and the light stays on the radio making it hard to drive cause it is so bright which is dangerous.
The touch screen in the bottom right corner is not responsive. Original owner said it gave out just before I purchased from them. The main safety concern is now I am unable to use hands free calling which is the main functionality you need with a bluetooth set up. From what I can see this is a large problem across online forums with this particular model and dealerships will not replace for less than $1000+ and I feel hands free calling should be a safety priority for Toyota enough to replace the screen.
The infotainment system touch functionality is broken. The lower part of the touchscreen does not respond to touches. This is apparently due to the faulty digitizer layer. The infotainment system is used for everything from accessing the media, to car settings configuration, to properly interacting and setting the phone for hands-free phone calls communication as required by the vehicular laws in my state (California) and many others. This presents a large safety risk, as the driver can be become heavily distracted operating the system. Per my research, this is a widespread problem across the entire Toyota lineup and affects many models and multiple years around 2014 (particular after 2014). You can easily find this problem reported across the internet in many forums and youtube videos. Although Toyota has issued some TSB's, it looks like, they are only covered in warranty. Toyota refuses to take responsibility for it and does not have any recalls for and the dealer will charge around $1000 to fix it, by changing the infotainment system.
The component that has failed already is the in front passenger side door locker. The door locker is not working in any way, when I am using the switch to lock and unlock the door locker dosen't move. If I use the car key in the drivers side outside to lock and unlock all doors, the other three doors locker work fine, but in front passenger side door locker not work any more. If I use my control alarm something happens. . I am driving my car every day I don't feel comfortable with this matter because somebody can open my door on any traffic lights. Same way I leave my car parked outside in the street I have to be careful to lock manually the door. I hope never forget lock manually my door car. . . . The vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear. . . No any symptoms o problems prior to the failure.
While using our navigation system our radio rebooted and will not load. We were using the system for directions because it's hands free. I have tried 7-8 times to reset the system and I even tried disconnecting the battery to perform a hard reset without any luck. The vehicle has approximately 70,000 miles. I am the original owner and haven't had another issues. I looked online and seen hundreds of people complaining about their navigation/radio system doing the same thing. It's obviously something wrong with the system and Toyota doesn't seem to be willing to repair the system for less than $1,400. 00 from what other Corolla owners have stated.
I have a 2014 Corolla and out of the blue with in the last few days my entire screen for my audio and navigation went blank on my car. It goes between running a process and then back to a black screen. It's a safety issue because it's very distracting for one, and for two I got the upgraded navigation so I had hands free. I'm very dissatisfied and when looking it up have seen several complaints about this. I have been an avid Toyota vehicle owner and for the most part been happy with the vehicles. I think this should be something that is looking into any potentially recalled for them to update this systems this isn't something that I did or anyone else I've seen posting comments on it. To keep loyal customers you have to have good solid products, seems that around 70,000 miles several people have had the same issue. Just around the time your warranty is up. Please look into this for the integrity of your Toyota name and safety for those who own this make and model.
My car was parked in my driveway when an electrical fire ignited. I was unaware and a neighbor knocked to let me know the car was smoking. The fire department responded swiftly and determined the fire was electrical and originated in the dash and had burned the entire dash, the fire was limited to this area and did not extend to the engine of the vehicle.
The screen that contains all hands free options continuously acts as if it is rebooting and never finishes. It happened at 70,000 miles and did this suddenly. It has never worked since and we shouldn't have to spend $1,000 for a new one when it wasn't our fault. This is a major distraction when driving at night and have a hard time seeing if a deer comes out or other things I need to watch for. I have adhd and so this causes more problems for me than maybe others. It flashes really bright and goes dim but continues to do this the whole time. This is a danger for me because of the amount of light that exudes off of the screen and never stops. It also is a safety concern due to myself not being able to use any of the hands free options. This must be called in for a recall because it is dangerous to have this happen.
The stereo system with the touch screen keeps looping in a reboot. The bright screen flashes on and off and on and off continuously while driving causing a distraction as you are unable to switch off the stereo system.
Bottom half of touch screen is not working.
I have three separate door lock actuaters that have failed or are failing all within a 2 month period with only 51000 miles on the odometer. The front right passenger door will not lock or unlock unless I manually flip the switch, and the front left driver door and left rear passenger door intermittently will not lock or unlock when I use the key fob or when I shift the car into gear. This makes it difficult to know if the car is secured when I park it or when starting to drive, and I am concerned if the rear child safety locks do not function correctly now. I have had the Toyota dealership in rochester mn confirmed the need for 3 door lock actuators and are asking for over $1400 for fixing them. I am in touch with Toyota north America hoping to be approved for a "goodwill" fix. Doing further research online shows two separate law firms investigating this issue as there has been a significant uptick in door lock actuator failures in various Toyota vehicles. I believe they are defective.
When I turn on the fog lights to the car I started smelling a electrical smell. Stopped my car and saw the front left of my car on fire and saw the fog light smoking. My fig light switch is also in the wiper control that was being recalled on other Corollas and dont know if that has an effect with the wiper control shorting out. I put out fire and turned off fog lamps and no problem. But when I turn fog lamp on I have the problem where it starts to smoke there.
After just five years of use (and only 28,000 miles), both front door locks have quit working. We have to manually lock and unlock the front doors with the key or from the inside. They occasionally work just often enough for us to think they're working again, then we'll come back to the car and find the front doors didn't lock. Not only is this a big annoyance, but it increases the risk of car theft and makes it hard for us to get the doors unlocked with kids or other things in tow. This is way too early for this equipment to be failing.
Upon starting my vehicle I noticed there was no power to my stereo, clock, dome lights (front and back), keyless entry, power locks, and the tpms light is suddenly lit. I have not been able to find any blown fuses.
Touchscreen issue dashboard screen calibration issue. Touchscreen issue.
I have difficulty when locking/unlocking my vehicle with my remote key fob and main look system from all doors of the vehicle. When the lock/unlock button is pushed on the vehicle's two front doors the driver's side door does not lock with the other doors on the vehicle. The driver side door is the only door that malfunctions all other doors operate efficiently. This locking malfunction occurs when the vehicle is parked. The driver's door can be locked manually by pushing the lock inwards or using the car key to manually lock/unlock the door. Please investigate this issue as the vehicle's locking system is a primary concern for the safety of the vehicle, the vehicle's owner, and the owner's property inside the vehicle. My vehicle is approximately 4 years old. I have also spoken with other Toyota Corolla owners (including year models of 2014 and 2015) who complain of the same issues.
Driver seatbelt not wanting to unlock when pressing red button. Also touch screen radio not recognizing touch please fix these issues I see multiple others having same issues!.
I turned my Corolla with less than 30,000 miles on it, and the radio does not turn on or work. It shows a picture of a machine of some sort, and looks like it is rebooting, but once the "loading bar" gets to the end, the screen turns black and starts the reboot process over again. This happens continuously without ever completeing a reboot. The navigation, radio, blue tooth, cd player, or anything that is done through the radio screen is not functional.
The front doors no longer lock by pressing the button on the door. The driver side door does not lock at all, even if the lock is pressed by hand. It started doing it every few days, but now the doors have stopped altogether. We were able to find out that the actuators are faulty. The car is a 2014 and the problem is something we had no control over. There are reports of this happening to other people with 2014 Corollas as well. This is a major safety issue.
The display screen for the radio, navigation, maintenance reminders, hands free phone use, back-up camera, etc. Suddenly stopped working when started my car. The screen only shows an icon with a status bar that makes it appear that the computer that operates this system is trying to restart. The screen its self works, but the computer won't boot-up. This is distracting while driving, and prevents the use of all the safety features that rely on it's function. I have done extensive reading on the internet and have found that this is a common problem in 2014-2016 Toyota vehicles that have the premium entune system with navigation. They admittedly state that the fugitsu component is faulty and they have sense started using a panasonic unit to avoid future problems. Toyota prices the replacement part at $3450. This is unacceptable, when they know that the problem is not the fault of the car owner, but rather a faulty part that was used during the manufacture of the vehicle. According to the post of one Toyota technician, Toyota has replaced 1 million of these units, but unless the vehicle is still under warranty they refuse to cover the repair cost because Toyota does not think this malfunction is a safety issue a recall or warranty extension has not been issued. I think it is a safety issue when the hands-free function does not work and the reverse camera does not work. Also an inoperable navigation system could be a safety issue too. I have tried to reset the radio, do a hard reset by holding the power button and disconnecting the battery. Nothing works. I called Toyota and they quoted me more than $3600 for the repair. This is unacceptable.

Mechanic quoted me more than $3500 for the repair. This is unacceptable when it is a known entune defect affecting many models across many years!.

Touch screen stereo went out. Had to replace.
The complaint is with the radio. The car was in motion on the street when it all of a sudden restarted itself. I thought nothing of it only because it has happened before except everything went back to normal and worked properly. But now after that has happened it doesn't stop doing that. It didnt even fully restart itself. It just keeps restarting to where I can't use the radio, navigation or anything not even the aux cord or usb port to play any music of some sort. I have tried parking and let it do its thing and nothing it still continues to restart.
The radio and gps system does not work any more, the system tries to load and all of sudden stops and starts again. Apparently lots of people have the same issue.
The contact owns a 2014 Toyota Corolla. While driving at unknown speeds, the steering wheel seized and the instrument panel illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the failure was unable to be duplicated. The manufacturer was unaware of the failure. The VIN and failure mileage were unavailable.
Power door lock actuators have failed on the driver and front passenger doors. Upon searching online, I found that there is a widespread, ongoing problem with Toyota/Lexus power door lock actuators failing early in the vehicles lifetime.
Power steering stops working while driving, in motion, on city streets.
Driver and passenger side locks get stuck when using the beeper or the door buttons, trying to lock or unlock them. I thought it was the beeper but it doesn't even lock/unlock using the doors buttons. I already know Toyota Corolla owners who have the lock stuck problem, so this is not only my car, but there's more cars with the same problem.
I was parked in the underground parking at the north west corner of amherst Ave and santa monica blvd in los angeles. I was exiting driving up the very narrow exit ramp. 1. The one way exit to the lot curves and is very narrow. As I navigated the narrow exit, I felt that I was almost touching the wall on the right side. 2. I applied the brakes and put the car in reverse in order to get away from the wall. However, the brakes did not respond and the car rolled backwards around the bend, hitting the wall behind me. The car came to a complete stop. 3. Applying the brakes had no impact on the car neither decelerating nor accelerating. This shows that the brakes definitely did not work. 4. With my foot on the brakes, I put the car in drive. At no time did I press the accelerator pedal. I would have heard the engine. The instant I shifted to drive, the car lunged forward at a very high rate of speed. Consequentially, my car zoomed up the driveway into the ground level parking facing west. Within a second or so, my car collided with another car, parked facing west in front of pizza hut. Due to the force of the impact at such a high rate of speed, the parked Hyundai superseded the concrete parking barrier crashing into pizza hut, shattering the store front window. 5. My car was thankfully stopped due to impact with the Hyundai on the right side of my vehicle and a low wall on the left side.
2014 Corolla. Locks will get stuck between open and close when using remote control. This is a flaw in the lock mechanism. Happens to me once a month and the only way to open it is with a key.
