I recently 6 weeks ago bought a used certified 2016 Toyota Corolla with 43,000 miles. I have been going back and forth with Toyota since the day after I bought it about the many mechanical issues that pose a major safety risk. The car shudders/vibrates when accelerating, knocks when backing up. And when making turns the car shifts hard side to side with a shudder and wobble in floor board of car. It feels as if you don’t have control of the vehicle when driving. It has lots of loose play in the front end and steering really the whole car. It also has a problem going up hill and jumping on fwy a major problem accelerating. They keep telling me car is working per design but this is a lie. I have taken it to 2 other mechanics who told me this car has major issues safety ones to take it back. Toyota fixed the control arms stating that might be what it is but the same problems remain. I am afraid to drive this vehicle and they refuse to figure out the problems and fix them. 2 days after buying it I told them take the car back it has too many mechanical issues they refused. I don’t know what to do I cannot continue driving this car like this and in the rain it could barely handle also. The car has a feeling of loss of control like the whole frame of car is loose. I need help and don’t know what else to do I’ve taken the car back to them about 15 times. They continue to lie and say nothing is wrong even though when I test drove it with the head mechanic. He admitted the car has major issues but told me he did not want to get involved and I would have to take it up with management. I traded in my 2011 SUV that was in good working order to buy this smaller car so my daughter could also learn to drive. They should have never sold this vehicle with this many mechanical safety issues please help.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that while attempting to make a left turn at 5 mph, the steering wheel locked as an unknown warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact immediately depressed her brake pedal, however, the vehicle proceeded to move forward independently down an incline. The contact panicked and ejected herself from the vehicle as her vehicle then hit a trailer that was attached to another vehicle. The air bags deployed upon impact. The contact sustained injuries to her left arm but did not receive any medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to longo Toyota (3534 n, peck rd, el monte, CA 91731) where it had yet to be repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and an investigator was sent out to inspect the vehicle. The investigation determined the brakes were never applied prior to the collision. The contact disputed that report and stated that multiple attempts were made to stop the vehicle. The vehicle also had been placed under NHTSA recall number:20v024000 (air bag). The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was 25,473.
I was driving my normal commute to work yesterday (June 6, 2019), heading west on broward blvd at about 45 mph. I was approaching a red light, so I pressed the brake pedal as usual. . . Except nothing happened!! I'm not sure if it even slowed at all because I was panicking since there was nowhere to go. I pressed down harder, and still nothing! so, I knew I was going to impact the car in front of me, and I did. I was so confused. It was the scariest experience of my life! not only that. Now, my right leg is sore from braking so hard, and my airbags deployed. So, my insurance company may declare my car a total loss. I'm so frustrated and upset. I'm just happy that the person I hit was okay with no injuries. I'm also happy to be alive, but this is so frustrating because I've already spent so much on that car and can't imagine incurring another financial burden to purchase a new one.
Brakes are not enough stronge power steering light turn on the steering wheel is so hard to manipulate.
I was driving on a city street at 15 mph and when my foot pressed the brake (for 2 seconds), the engine revved and the vehicle accelerated for a couple of seconds before braking fully.
On 08/07/2018, I was in a car (2016 Toyota Corolla) accident where another car slammed me in the rear and I've hit a chevy pickup in the back. The pick-up was coming to a stop which I was slowing down as well and I'm assuming the car that was behind did not paid attention. Therefore, he hit me between 45-50 mph in the back which I've hit the truck abruptly at 30-35mph. My airbags did not deploy which is very shocking and my shoulder along with my arm slammed into the steering wheel. Also, I had a hard time with my brakes because it felt like it was stuck and wouldn't go down as I was pressing on it. I'm suffering from intense right leg pain as if I've torn the muscle but 10x's worst. Ever since the accident, my leg has been going numb quite frequently which goes into my toes. I'm walking with a limp and my shoulder has sharp pain as well. I'm starting to think that my airbags were defective because it should have deploy as soon as the impact occurred but it didn't. . .
Takata recall. I was recently in an accident on Friday 6/15. I was rear ended by a Ford explorer going 60 miles per hour while I was stopped in traffic on i495. This collision caused me to rear end the car in front of me. The airbags did not deploy which caused me to slam my head into the steering wheel. I went to the hospital where I was diagnosed with a concussion. Since the accident I have still had headaches and sensitivity to light. I also have had severe bruising due to the impact. Prior to the collision I had sticky brakes which sometimes I would break and the break would not halt properly,, but when pressed again the car would brake. During the accident the brakes did this sticky effect and caused the impact to be greater.
Driving my sister home from hospital as we neared intersection the traffic light changed to red of the six cars in front of me four went into the left turn lane as traffic slowed down upon applying brakes I didn't get any response, approximately two plus car lengths separated forward vehicle and my car I tried applying brakes again holding steady pressure still no response the inevitable happened my car running into the rear of the SUV in front of me.
When going over small bumps, ditches, or any abrasions my brakes skid and keeps going and I have to swerve or go around to find solid road to stop my car. It happens all the time not occasionally. I've had my brakes inspected by pep boy, and my personal mechanics that I trust and they say the brakes and rotors are perfect. I'm not sure what's the cause. It's been happening since I got the vehicle, I figured I should just drive slow but it doesn't help and I recently almost rear ended another vehicle due to the issue.
Accident due to breaks locking and the car continued to roll. Back seat passenger seat belt did not lock causing passenger to fly forward and back; injured breast bone driver air bag from steering wheel did not inflate fully.
Several times the seat belt chime wouldn't stop although seat belt connected. Brakes screeching when trying to come to a stop. Took more effort than should for brakes to stop the car. The first time this happened, I had only had the car for two days. The second time it occurred was right after the 5000 mile maintenance service. It happened two times afterwards and one time today. I was driving any where from 25 mph to 55 mph. So far I have been lucky but I am beginning to be afraid to drive my car. The last time this happens was today.
Upon entering my carport, while applying the brakes, the car suddenly lurched forward several feet, nearly colliding with a concrete wall. My concern when will this occur in street traffic and cause a fatality?.
This is a new vehicle there has been many times the brakes delay before stopping. This time the car accident. I had enough time to brake 4 the car to dtop but the brake screech and would not stop untill collision. In November the vehicle broke down on the highway, Toyota said the vehicle spark needed changing.
I was driving out of a parking lot at 10-15mph. A car was waiting to turn at a stop sign 200 feet ahead. The road had mild snow and ice and was on a 20 degree slope, so I stepped gently on the brake. There was no response from the car. I stepped off the brake and stepped down a little harder. There was mild response. I continued pushing on the brake, and was able to push all the way down to the floor. The car did not stop. 50 feet before collision, I attempted turning the wheel to get out of the way, but the car only shifted 3 feet before I collided with the front car. 50 minutes after the incident, I was driving the same car home at 25mph. The city street was flat and straight, and there was mild snow and ice. A car was turning right at an intersection 250 ft ahead. I was worried this time, and pressed on the brake earlier at moderate pressure (pedal half down). In the past, that type of pressure could decrease the car from 35 to 10mph in 100ft. This time, the car only decreased from 25 to 15mph in 245ft. I was lucky the driver ahead turned, because it would have been a second collision in one day.
Pulled into parking lot and prepared to park. Stepped on brakes, car didn't stop hit building. I put in reverse and then drive, swerving away from building, but car kept going all while foot was on brake. Pulled keys from the ignition to stop the car.
The car was involved in the accident with all the airbags deployed, date of crash Apr. 16,2016 at 10. 25 pm. Hsmv report 385303651,I feel the airbags did not protect me properly, and I would like to be added to auction class law suite.
