My wife was driving the car on i95 from south to north (after exit 6 in PA) towards philly airport on 7/22/2017 and the car was hit at the rear by another car. Car was span and stopped. Thank to god that she is ok. However, the car was totaled by the insurance. Our concern was no airbag deployed. Our collision center as well as Toyota doesn't know why. Need your help as well as it should not happen to someone.
The cars takata lateral airbags activated after hitting a bump on the side of the road while going uphill. I had driven to the side of the road to avoid an accident with an invading vehicle and I do not feel that the bump the wheel had hit was that strong to activate the lateral airbags. I had contacted my local dealer for assistance as I have a full cover and they have not proved useful at all. Two months later my car is still at a workshop as they have not been able to receive the new airbags to install on the car and I've been without a vehicle because the full cover does not cover a rental. I would not recommend a purchase of any Toyota vehicles because of the bad support and experience I have had with them since they even refused to accept my car after I had brought it to them for assistance the day the airbags went off.
