I am contacting you on a problem I cannot fully describe. However, I believe there is a mechanical problem with the right side of my vehicle with handling and braking. I have downloaded the form with the information as reported to me and explained via the north american Corolla facebook group. Please look at the attached documentation.
Drum brakes - no inspection hole. There are no inspection holes in any of my drum breaks.
My brakes seem to malfunction when engaged after hitting potholes and/or street depressions. This has occurred on kensington street east of church avenue. This is between church avenue and dale mabry highway among other streets. My safety was put at risk as I felt the brakes were not going to hold or stop the vehicle. No, it has not been attempted to be duplicated. When my brakes were inspected, I was told everything was fine. It seemed no one was interested in driving the vehicle over a pothole and/or street depression. Why would it be inspected when a Toyota dealership and firestone reported my brakes were fine without duplicating the situation in which I had a problem. No warning lights, lamps, messages. My 2 front tires continully lose air down to 28 and 29 psi from the 32psi. I will be taking the car back to firestone for them to check the two front tires that I purchased from them. In case something happens to me or others reporting this problem, I wanted proof I informed you of the issue I had.
When it's wet on the road or raining my car deploys and I lose control I've been telling the dealer ship since the first day I had this car they told me it's nothing yesterday when it was raining my car did it again also u I called to have my recall fixed and they said there was not any in my car??? this car is a risk I'm going to kill myself driving this car or get hurt I had 3 rental cars because I am scared to drive this car 818-272-1032.
This vehicle when it's impacted there's really no help or assistance to get the vehicle removed off your property on the vehicle is a hazard it really needs to be retested and there needs to be someone to know that it's not safe for children and being this vehicle a lot of times it's kids slides and it doesn't have the front part of the vehicle is impacted bad and it's hard to get the car replaced by the manufacturer in thewayenough restraint so that you can take your kids a little faster in the car without answering them it's also a hazard because only certain drivers know how to operate it and it's not always safe to have this car out and about without issues or malfunction.
The contact owns a 2017 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that the brakes malfunctioned and the vehicle crashed into a 4x4 truck at 25 mph. The whole front was smashed in and the engine was pushed back into the inner cab. The air bags failed to deploy as well as the seat belt pretensioner failed to engage. The contact also stated that the forward collision warning also failed. The contact was transported to the hospital as she had internal bleeding and contusions all over her body. A police report was filed and the vehicle was totaled. The dealer and manufacturer had not been contacted yet. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20v02400 (air bags) a month after the crash. The failure mileage was 24,500.
The car is pulling I've taking it to the dealership over 6 times when I'm driving the car is shaking and pulling and it feels like I'm going to flip over from the wind you can go over 60 on the freeway if a car is next to you my car will shake when I turn I'm so scard the tires are going to break off it's not a safe car.
Lane departure alert & pre collision system malfunction warning light keep illuminating on the dashboard for a certain amount of time and then will turn off again without warning. This is also affecting the cruise control and the abs system. I noticed that it affects what seems to be the transmission when I am coming to a stop the car will shake uncontrollably and act like it is out of gear. Almost like it is possessed. It's been doing it on and off since I bought the car and I have taken it to the dealership multiple times and they will fix it temporarily and then several months later it always comes back. This past time has been the worst as it seems like there are multiple electrical components that are being affected and it is actually affecting the steering as well as the breaking and efficient running of the vehicle .
While coming out of a revered position, I was driving forward and my brakes vibrated. This caused my car to stall while in the driving position.
The cruise control is just awful and has been since I bought the car brand new in December 2016. Just as several others have described, it cannot control the speed when going down hill. It raises the rpm's trying to slow the car down, but it isn't very effective. I've never had another car or another Toyota have such poor speed control. So much, that I don't even bother trying to use it anymore. A cop isn't going to listen to "my cruise control wasn't working right" if I get pulled over. The brakes already feel like they are wearing out at 26k miles. My 13 camry had 30k and the brakes still felt brand new. Same with the 15 sentra I had. The suspension feels rougher and is starting to make noises already. This car shouldn't feel like it has 60k miles on it already.
Brakes are slvery soft and have been since 500 miles; and from day one have seemed to soften over time. Braking distance in my opinion is dangerous from the factory. I've had them adjusted twice and I'm about to have it done a third time. I bought the car new and have driven 22k miles. Toyota says there is nothing wrong but since the pedal feel is better after they adjusted them, and slowly gets worse they obviously know what's going on.
I was driving home on hamilton road, in columbus, ohio, at 535pm. I noticed that my headlights weren't on, when other drivers were trying to worn me. I set my headlights on automatic when I first received the car. I finally found the switch to turn my headlights on manually. Then my car started to brake 10-15 feet from the car in front of me, my tires were squealing. My foot was not on the brake pedal it was still on the accelerator. It was too late I hit the SUV in front me. My air bags didn't deploy. The accident avoidance system didn't activate until to late. It is clear that the car responded after the headlight switch was manually turned on instead of being in the auto position. It was suggested at a dealership earlier that cycling the navigation system on the car could inadvertently disarm it. If that were the case and it was off accidently why did the car try to brake at the last second on its own by turning on the headlight switch. This car was purchased for the driver for the very reasons of its safety features unfortunately this car completely failed to protect the driver. That is why I feel like this should be looked at immediately to see if this is a mechanical issue, program issue, or simply driver error, which I do not believe at this point. I have photos of vehicle and interior which I am unable to upload on this site, they are available upon request.
On October 22, 2017, while at a complete stop behind 3 other vehicles. The first vehicle was stopped at a stop sign, my foot was on the brakes, because I was at a complete stop, was hit from behind by a truck. The car lunged forward towards the car in front of me, and I mashed my foot on the brake to stop it, but it would not stop. My car kept accelerating forward, while I was frantically kept mashing my brakes to the floor. The Toyota Corolla never stopped until I pulled up the emergency brake. This is a brand new car, that I purchased only since June of 2017. I was terrified while my kept going, and was injured from the car hitting me from behind.
My new (4,000 miles) Toyota Corolla 2017 failed to stop in a parking lot. I pulled in a parking lot of my apartment building, but my car failed to stop at the car stopper (bump) and kept going. I kept applying the brakes, but the car kept going . It went through a wooden fence, I continued to apply the bakes, but the car didn't respond and kept going until it hits the wall of the adjacent building.
The automatic emergency braking does not appear to be working. I have never noticed the vehicle automatically apply the brakes to slow down the vehicle when approaching another vehicle. The vehicle only automatically slows down when I am using autonomous cruise control.
My new 2017 Corolla has squeaky brakes right out of the showroom when I apply the brakes every time, and continues to do so.
While coming to a stop at a stoplight, a car come out if no where. I tried to slam on the brake to come to a stop faster but the breaking system did not react to the pedal being pressed down. I was met with a stiff pedal and I could feel the brakes pushing back which caused me to hit another car that had already entered into an intersection.
On 3/22/17 I was driving an enterprise rental car into an apartment complex and pulled in front of the leasing office to park. While stepping on the brake pedal the car did not stop and it suddenly accelerated causing the car to crash into the pillars of the leasing office with force. Airbags deployed and my passenger and I had to crawl out of the rear passenger door to escape the vehicle. We are lucky to be alive and escape with minor injuries. There are drag skid marks on the ground from the rear wheels. Upon collision the engine shut off even though the key was in the run position. .
Car has several issues, one is definitely the vehicle warning lights in dash, the warning lights pop up at different times for no reason occasionally and dealers can't find issues, car also has issues with braking system. Several times went around curves it on stops and car locked up and went sideways, dealer said tested but less than a mile put on car?? car does not act like it has normal abs and almost got in several accidents with my kids and grandson because of it my stopping or locking up!! also have issues since I bought it with radio/features/display. Things show up half way or it turns off at times and also calls out even when untouched. Worried about gps cutting out when needed too. Also plastic part under passaged side glove box continuously falls off, took to dealer and they just put back in, didn't replace but you could see the bend where hook was. And gas mileage and the recent cvt recall, they updated, not replaced after I asked and described how it was driving, and still having issues because they didn't replace after I said it wouldn't go over a certain speed during highway travel or roads requiring over 45 mph. The driving warning thing when you go over lines doesn't always work either, it does 50% of the time. Explained that too but nothing done. Very concerned about this car!! had since 11/2016 and barely drove because of issues and safety concerns. It out has 8000 miles because of it.
While reversing out of a parking spot, I noticed my break and steering wheel felt extremely stiff. I lost control of the vehicle for a second until I instinctively pushed hard on the break. I realized it was unsafe to continue reversing, so I switched from r (reverse) to d (drive), I let go of the break pedal slowly, but the car continued to reverse. I pushed hard on the stiff break again, and switched from d (drive), to p (park), I let go of the break pedal again, and the car continued to roll back in reverse still. I realized my cars breaks, steering wheel, and gears were being unresponsive. I kept my foot on the break pedal, used the parking stick and set the car into p (parking) again, and turned it off. The car did not roll back as before, and was completely off. I turned the car back on again, and it went back to normal. The steering wheel and break pedal were not stiff, and the gears were all working and being responsive. I searched up the problem, and from what I have read, it is currently unsafe to drive my vehicle. I have kept up with proper and regular maintenance on my vehicle. But from what I have researched, the Corolla has had a massive recall on this exact problem. However, my VIN number indicates my vehicle is not eligible for a recall. I would like to receive proper help for this problem, as it is a dangerous and widely known problem with the 2013-2019 Corollas.
