I have automatic locks and have never had any problems with them until recently when my front passenger side door would not open from inside or out in the unlocked position. All other doors work normally. I tried using my key to unlock it and that also failed. I took it to the dealership and they said it was a problem with a broken cable which they repaired. It was not covered under warranty.

1. My daughter was driving her 2009 Toyota Corolla 4 door sedan and did not see a pickup truck stopped in the road waiting to make a left turn. She swerved, but not soon enough to avoid colliding with the truck. The Toyota Corolla sustained heavy dmage to the driver's side front of the car (the car was totaled by the insurance company). There were no injuries to my daughter or her passenger. 2. There were multiple failures of safety equipment on the Toyota Corolla. First, the air bigs did not deploy. The investigating police officer said that they did not delploy because the collission "missed the sensor". Second, and the failure that most concerns me is that the hood latch failed to prevent the hood from popping loose, thereby driving the hood backwards and breaking the windshield. I was appalled that the hood latch failed to secure the hood in the crash. 3. Since the car was a total loss, this is the first time that the hood latch failure has been reported. The delay in reporting the failure si due to my lack of knowledge of this database.
The contact owns a 2004 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that the lock assembly failed on the passenger side door; he would be unable to either get in or out of the vehicle. The contact called the dealer and was told that they would repair it at his expense. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The current and failure mileages were 63,911.
Sometime within the first 2 years of owning my 2002 Corolla, the drivers side window started to stop working. It was intermittent. Sometimes I would roll my window down to order takeout and couldn't roll it back up and have to drive in cold then after several tries, it would roll up and be fine until the next time. . . . . Maybe 2 months would go by,,,,so I decided to have the driver side motor replaced under my 6 year, 100,000 miles warranty. It has been fine until this year, now my door handle on the inside has broken, and some how the window has come off the tract and when I roll the window up you can see by the tinting, that it has shifted and now the gap on my window, not at the top but at the side towards the rear, there is a 1/4 inch gap when window rolls up. This happened after my outside door handle became stuck when I opened my door, it stayed lifted up and I couldn't close my drivers side door. I had to physically push down on the outside door handle in order to get my door to shut and latch. . . . . Now my window won't roll up all the way and . . . . . Its a pain not to be able to go thru the car wash. . . . I have to hold towels in it in order to not get interior wet. My car only has 80,000 miles on it. . . . . Anyone else having that kind of problems. . . . People have tried to get door panel off and you need a special tool. . . . Of course you do! I don't have any cash to fix it so I just live with it. . . . . What a pain! the dealership has been sold so, I am sol! sorry they said. . . . . That was under the old dealership and we don't honor their repairs! whatever. . . . . . . . At least I should be thankful my gas pedal doesn't stick!.

Feb. 15, 2010 national highway safety administration re. : defect in Toyota Corolla I recently reported to both my local Toyotal dealership and to Toyota motor sales USA (national customer relations, 9001 southwestern Ave, dept. Wc11; torrance, CA 90509) that the play on the trunk lid on our 2010 Corolla was so loose that even though the trunk lid would be pushed all the way up, a sudden gust of wind would send it flying down on whoever was loading items into the trunk. This has happened on several occasions to my wife. On one occasion the lid came down on my wife's head and again on her arm on several different occasions. Please see the attached photo showing the effect of the lid being blown down on her arm. The dealer agreed that compared to the trunk lid on my camry, the lid on the Corolla did indeed swing too freely and that the cause was a design flaw as the lid was functioning within the manufacturer's specifications . The dealer suggested that I contact Toyota. I did that, explained the situation, and was assigned case. Nothing has been done regarding this design flaw. Perhaps you can convince Toyota to reduce the "play" on the trunk lid so that we can actually use the trunk of the car without experiencing injury.
On December 5, 2009, I could not get out of my vehicle through the front doors because I couldn't unlock the front doors locks (manually or electronically). I had to crawl and get out of the car through the rear door. Good thing this is a 4 door vehicle. My concern is that this could have been serious if the whole system shut down. This defect causes the doors to be inoperable. Now I am afraid to drive the vehicle feeling that I could one day be trapped and have to break a window to get out.
2009 Toyota Corolla I have a file number10284648 I filed a couple of weeks ago. My car ' gas pedal did not get stuck on the floor mat . Toyota is making up a cheat excuse for the real problem the gas pedal in my car comes from way up under the dash, high on the fire wall pedal arm comes down to above the floor mats . I think you need to do your own investigating, I'll let you check my car even.

The lock cylinders on both front doors have malfunctioned. The passenger side (which I rarely use) will no longer unlock; the driver side will no longer lock. I have never used the outside lock to lock the door so didn't even know the problem until the mechanic told me. $450 to fix both locks but I need to be able to get in the car.
The bolt holding the pulley for the belts snapped and wedged in the engine - so far 2 1/2 days by the dealer and they still cannot remove the bolt. I think there is a defect in the bolt.
Chrome on the interior door handles is coming off creating a cut hazard.
The front passerger door won't open both from inside and outside the vehicle. I took it the the Toyota dealer and was told the problem is due to malfunction of the latch in door. The driver side door is starting to show the same problem. The problem was occurred some 2 years ago. It would cause serious consequence when the occupant(s) need to be evacuated from the vehicle should something happen in emergency, e. G. Fire, road hazard, crush, etc.

1999 Toyota Corolla door knobs. These plastic doors knobs are below standard. I am surprised no other complaints have been made on these door knobs.

The locks will no longer lock. When you push the electic lock button the lock will not go down on the doors. Extreme security risk. Also, the seat belts in the front often jam nearly causing an accident in itself.

Rear door locks (rr,rl) have inexplicably seized and do not operate in either a locking or unlocking capacity. Mechanical seizure within the lock assemblies makes operation of locks extremely difficult considering the minimal texture afforded on the lock lever. Out of fear of blowing a fuse or relay, I have disconnected the assemblies manually and now have minimal power locking capability.
Electric windows do not work when extreme temp arise. Cold winter days amd extreme summer days. Locks on doors popped out of place. Windows slipped and needed to be reparied.
