Unknown Or Other problem #2

I had my Toyota Corolla 08 serviced on 4/5/11 due to a recall for the engine control module. After the Toyota dealer looked at they determined it did not need to be replaced according to "lot #7238" and on 8-21-2012 my wife was driving on the highway going 55 mph when all of the sudden the vehicle's electrical system just cut off. Luckily there were no cars in front of her at a distance and it started to slow down until she was able to control it and manage to park at the median. She said that the breaks did not work and the power steering did not work. She was terrified at that moment and feared for her life. The next day I took the car to the dealer and explained what had happened. They just told me that there was a recall and it should be fixed immediately. I asked the representative why this recall was not taken care of the first time I went to the dealer. He had told me that at that time it was not necessary to change the part which affected the electrical system. Well they should not have wasted my time, but looking back they were negligent on their part. I could have lost my loved one or one of my beloved children which could have devastating for me.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

Last week, as I was driving on a paved road, I heard that maybe I hit a small rock, however, I did not see any rocks on the road. The next day, my ac stopped working. I found a posting on the internet that the a/c condensers on 2005/2006 Corollas are not protected and there was a technical service bulletin issued by Toyota- number ac002-06. Toyota has redesigned the Corolla to correct this problem in 2007 leaving 2005-2006 customers in the dust. I spoke with the Toyota dealer in chantilly on 8/17/12, and he said that the technical bulletin was issued only for Toyota mechanics' use, and that my car was no longer under warranty, even though I only have 35,000 miles on the car. He also wanted to charge me with $130 to diagnose the problem. I went to my personal mechanic instead, and he replaced the a/c condenser, charging me $556 for his service. He also said there was no way to protect this condenser so this does not happen in the future. The vehicle has very few miles, and Toyota is aware of the problem. I request that a recall be issued so this problem is corrected and other customers like me do not have to pay for the temporary repair of the improper design. Thank you.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

Car was at a dead stop (stop sign) when engine revved and car wanted to accelerate while foot was off gas and on break. Shifted car into park to stop. Shut car off. Third time this has happened in last 12 months.

Unknown Or Other problem #6

Bought used 2009 toyotoa Corolla (5 speed manual clutch) vehicle in mid 2011. Noticed that the gas pedal, break and clutch are oddly very close, and gas pedal seems to stick, which seems to cause error in shifting/ acceleration/ DE-acceleration, especially when using in between gears. Not sure what that is all about, or whether or not there has been a prior complaint about this or recall, but I think it should be brought to the attention and fixed by Toyota for safety reasons.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

My 2006 Toyota Corolla was on a recall list for the ecm. I was watching the car's behavior closely for warning signs/ problems related to the ecm. Surprisingly instead of problems starting, harsh shifting or stopping while driving (all listed as possible "symptoms" of ecm issues)- the opposite problem occurred. My car tried to accelerate when stopped! when fully stopped at traffic lights/stop signs, with my foot on the brake pedal, all of a sudden, my car engine revved and the car tried to accelerate. I quickly pushed down even harder on the brake pedal to stay stopped and not crash into the car in front of me or go the intersection. Other instances occurred when parking after a short drive doing errands. Again, the engine revved up and attempted to accelerate while stopped, preparing to put the car into park. . . And once again I had to hold it with the brake. These"behaviors" happened so frequently that I finally resorted to putting the car in neutral to be safe when I was stopped. I also remembered from news reports that car mats could possibly shift and interfere with pedals so I had removed my mats(original mats attached to hooks) to ensure they could not be an issue although it seemed obvious they had never moved off their hooks towards the pedals. I called customer service at Toyota corporate to seek their advice and fully described the problem as I have here. They said Toyota mechanics would have to get the car to replicate the problem in order to fix it. I assured them it was really happening, but it was not predictable. Soon after this,my local Toyota dealership called to let me know that there was an opening for me to come in and have my car looked at since they had been made aware that I was having a problem with my brakes ! I let them know that my brakes were not the problem but was with acceleration when I was stopped with my foot on the brake.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

I was about to stop when vehicle suddenly accelerated. Luckily there no one or property in the way before I could get the car to stop. Problem only occurred once. Will stop driving the car for now.

Unknown Or Other problem #11

I was driving the car, a Toyota Corolla 2003 on July 12 and while driving it turn on the check engine light, next morning while driving the car in a highway the car turn off. I didn't have an accident because it was too early in the morning, after couple attempts the car turned on, I call a Toyota place, where I do all maintenance of my cars, and after I called I went there so they can run a test. The result was shit solenoid "e" malfunction. The worker told me that most likely the problem is the computer, that there was a recall but on the Corolla 2006 not 2003. Hopefully you can help me with this. He told me to file a complain so I don't know where.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

While driving my Toyota Corolla 2003 model at freeway 110 with a speed of 65 miles per hour, I noticed that the mil or malfunction indicator light turned on. As soon as I saw the light, I went straight to a mechanic to find out what is wrong. The mechanic used a diagnostic tester and showed the code p0070 solenoid "e" fault and adviced us to go to the dealer and check if there is a recall on this because this is a manufacturers fault, but Toyota claimed that there was never a recall issued on that particular defect. I tried to research on this and found out that Toyota issued a technical service bulletin issued on oct. 23, 2002 . It was also admitted by the manufacturer that Toyota has made production changes in later models of the Corolla line to eliminate the issue but has not issued a recall on the 2003 model. If this is the case, then this will truly posed a problem to many Toyota Corolla 03 users. We bought these car 5 years ago and we did not experience any problem on it until today. Is it possible that your organization can urge Toyota to issue a recall on this. Thank you.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

I drive a 2007 Toyota Corolla s automatic. I bought it brand new & had about 72,000 miles on it at the time of the incident. I had noticed for a few weeks that my car was shifting into reverse quite roughly, delayed & jerking. I figured I would get it checked at my next oil change. While I was stopped at an intersection waiting to turn left, my car stalled. I stepped on the pedal to accelerate but it just revved my car & wouldn't go. I tried switching into reverse with the same result. Then I restarted my car a couple times until it finally started moving again. I thought it was a fluke so I kept driving. Unfortunately, as I drove on, the car just decelerated and stalled again. At that point, I called a tow truck. My car was taken to repair shop where the diagnostic was ecm issues & transmission failure. My mechanic called toyta to get the ecm replaced & my transmission had to be rebuilt.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

The a/c blows cool air not cold for about 20 minutes and stops blowing cool. You can turn the a/c off for a few minutes and then turn it back on and the air blows cool again for a few minuets then goes back to warm. I've noticed a slight smell (not bad) coming thru the vents sometimes and when I have the ac on, it seems to fluctuate between cool (never cold) and lukewarm. I also feel like I have to have it on the 2nd setting to feel air moving.

Unknown Or Other problem #15

2007 Toyota Corolla steel rim issues. I have had problems twice with the steel rims on my car and am afraid there will be more as my car ages. The rims rust. I turned a corner too sharp and barely grazed the concrete, which bent the wheel rim and caused my tire to blow out, and I had to replace that tire. Now, I hit a pothole, and entire wheel rim buckled, tore my tire to bits, and it was almost impossible to find a replacement rim for my car. I could not locate one online, could not get a return phone call from sam swope's Toyota dealership to try to see if the part could be ordered, but I was able to get another dealer to sell me one at a whopping $141 including tax. I was driving on city streets when I hit that pothole and was going at a slow speed. Had this happened on the expressway, I'd be dead. Now that I look at all of the rims on my car, every rim is bent somewhere along the edges. The metal on these rims is of the poorest quality I have ever seen. I'd expect steel to hold up better than this, and this is a potentially dangerous problem when steel rims buckle, destroy your tire and you can loose control of your car. I am also afraid that this isnt' the last of my problems with these rims. I believe this is going to happen again, and it is almost impossible to find another rim for my particular car. I am being told by every junkyard that my car is too new for them to have parts for it. The rims are also unaffordable if you can find them. Not only did I have to buy the rim at a cost of $141, but I had to purchase another tire and pay for mounting and balancing. So, the cost is now over $200 to fix my just hitting a small pothole, and louisville, ky, is loaded with potholes everywhere. If these rims continue rusting, is that going to affect my braking ability too?.

Unknown Or Other problem #16

Sudden acceleration of my 2004 Toyota Corolla resulting in an accident. This year was not a recall year.

Unknown Or Other problem #17

Unknown Or Other problem #18

I purchased the car 4/22/11, two weeks later it began jerking and bucking. I thought it ws me so at first I did not say anything. After some time it became a regular occurence. Then on 2 occaions it accelerated on it's own. Even when I applied the brakes it was not slowing down. Finally it did but I was scared I was not going to be able to stop. I took the car to the dealer and, of course, it did not do it. They checked it and told me all was normal. Two days later the jerking and bucking returned and it drove itself again just the other day. The jerking and bucking occurs between 40 and50 mph. However, the other day it occured at 35 and 55. When this happens the tach. Dips and dives and the mpg gauge drops to 99. 9 . No warning lights come on. This car car scares me !!!!!!!!! I have found other people complaining of the same problem and doing all the same things I am doing including this report but to no avail. Toyota is doing nothing about this problem. I called them to report this on Tuesday 7/19/11 they gave me a case # and told me a manager would call me by Friday. I received no call.

Air condition - the air condition stopped working. It is very difficult to travel in summer without air conditioner working in the car. Toyota has issued a technical service bulletin indicating that the a/c condenser is not properly protected; the number for this report is ac002-06. It costs $300 to repair the a/c condenser and $300 in labor for a total of $600. Appreciate, if Toyota can recall the vehicle and fix the air conditioner problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #27

I was parking my car Wednesday evening. As I was about to finish parking my car, the engine out of nowhere made a loud vroom and accelerated on it's own as I was pressing the brake. The car hit a snow bank which stopped the car. Fortunately no one was injured.

Unknown Or Other problem #28

In January 2011, my 2010 Toyota Corolla le experienced what has been termed 'sudden acceleration'- while I was braking, the accelerator engaged by itself, going all the way to the floor. My Toyota Corolla is the newer design I believe, it has nailed down floor mats, and the brake pedal was already worked on by Toyota I believe in October 2010. I took my car to Toyota, they simply issued an inspection result indicating that the car 'checked out to factory specifications. ' Toyota is lying about the cause of sudden acceleration, and continues to do so. The company would rather see people injured or killed than deal with the real problem(s).

We bought a 2006 certified Corolla le on June 19, 2010 from a dealership in northern virginia. On August 18, 2010 my daughter was driving the car and while at stop light earlier that day her car hesitated and didn't want to move. That evening around 8:30 pm as she was driving her car, the road curved slightly to the right but she was not able to turn the wheel or depress the brakes. She crossed the on coming lane and the car was totaled. She was able to walk away from this with only hundreds of small cuts from glass. The initial thought was that she had hydroplaned but after further talking to my daughter she said that she tried to turn the steering wheel to follow the road but she couldn't because it was too hard and the brakes would not depress either. I had my mechanic go to the yard where the car was stored and read the computer and this is what he found: check engine light find p0430 evap system pressure sensor high input and in the history he found 2 codes: the same p0430 and b2799 engine immobilizer system fault. So as it seems now the car did shut off and she was not able to control the steering or brakes due to not having power. I have read that this is not the first report of this happening. Something should be done before someone gets hurt really bad or there is a fatal accident. I would like to know if being a certified car, should this have been detected before the car was sold? also, is the computer read before the car is sold to see if there has been or is a problem? if it is not read, then maybe it should be a new policy for the dealerships.

Air float sensor or ecm problem: in may 2010, while I was driving home after work, the check engine light came up, and within a few minute, the car slowed down to a stop even I press on the gas paddle. I turned the car off for several minutes and tried starting it again, and the car started again and check engine was off. However, after several minutes of driving, the check engine light came up again and the car slowed down within a few minute to a complete stop. This happened four times before I got home that day. I called my mechanic the next day to come to inspect my car. After the diagnose, the mechanic replaced the air float sensor and the air filter. After that, my car worked again. However, I had the exact same problem a few months later. I had to replace the air float sensor again. Two or three weeks after the second replacement, the check engine light came up again. I brought it to the auto shop, and the mechanic found problem with the engine control module (ecm) and replaced the original ecm with an used ecm. The security light came up after the ecm was replaced. According the mechanic, the security light came up because the used ecm doesn't have the security feature that the original ecm has. After that, the engine light didn't come up again til about two weeks ago (Feb. 2011). Around the same time, I received an ecm safety recall notice from Toyota. I contacted the local Toyota dealer and had the ecm replaced on Feb. 19, hoping that it will fix the security light and check engine light problem. However, both the security light and the check engine light remained on after the replacement through the recall. The Toyota dealer said the lights has nothing to do with the recall and refused to deal with the security light and check engine light issue unless I'm paying them to do a diagnose. I called the Toyota customer experience center and they said the same thing.

Car : 2007 Corolla ce first incident : accelorator would get stuck and it wouldn't go down until I press the breaks really hard. It kept shaking the steering wheel. After incident I took to cabe Toyota of long beach (562) 595-7411 . And cabe Toyota wasted my time and kept the car for two days and said no work was done because nothing was wrong but it seemed like they did some adjustments to the car because weird noises started happening. Second incident: 03/24/2010 break failure on wardlow blvd towards atlantic avenue. Breaks did not want to go down. Car kept going after trying to press breaks! had to shut down car by taking key out of ignition and pull emergency break. Luckily no car was in front and back. Sterring wheel locked. As soon as it happened I called cabe Toyota and filed a complaint about it. They took the car for less then a day and told me to pick up my car. The mechanic said "we had it for two days and found nothing wrong with it. " and they had a meeting with the Toyota and said give the car back. Time of submitting car 2 pm on 03/24/2010 . Time I called to ask about car around 1:30ish 03/25/2010. They only had the car for one day. And issued the car back to me. I do not know what to do. I was shaking drastically after it happened. Luckily my daughter wasn't in the car. Or I was not on the freeway.

In an faux-article ad in florida today, a local florida space coast daily newspaper on 2/12, a local Toyota dealer states that: "every vehicle on the dealerships lot is fully qualified for sale. Any needed repairs have been made. . . " it goes on to state: "in the meantime, sales continue on Toyota's full line of vehicles. Those affected by the recall were fixed quickly, thanks to swift delivery of needed parts by Toyota. " the ad then explains how owners of affected vehicles that are currently being driven can make arrangements to have them fixed "within the next 90 days". This is outrageous! Toyota is making statements that the customer comes first, the ceo looks like he's about to fall on his sword. . . Yet they are repairing vehicles on the dealership's lot to prepare them for possible sale before they repair customer's vehicles that are being driven every day??? that really makes it seem like Toyota's first priority is its customer's safety and satisfaction, huh? my mother-in-law drives a 2010 Corolla. I called the dealer she purchased it from and asked if they were selling new Corolla's at significant discounts. They assured me that they were. I asked about the recall situation, and was informed that if the car I selected hadn't been repaired yet, they would take care of it while I waited. I then asked if my relatives could bring their Corolla in for repair and was told: "no, we are working on camry's first. We only have enough parts to fix the Corollas we have on the lot. " how can they fix inventory before addressing customer vehicles???.

Toyota Corolla s 2010 [xxx] with extra stabilizer bar kit, purchased 11-30-09 with delivery in 12/09. 1) approximately 1 month after purchase ,the car starting to veer sharply right then left when driving on the highway, it was/is difficult to control requiring a tight grip on the wheel. It feels like strong winds are moving the car but winds are absent and road conditions are normal. This event comes and goes unexpectedly, generally lasts the duration of my commute once started, sometimes occurs with the tire pressure gauge but not always, sometimes occurs after rapid braking. It does not feel like an alignment or balance problem, the car darts from one end of the lane, to the median of the lane on its own. On this date 2-24-10 my local dealership filled the tires, and made a slight change to the left alignment they could not duplicate the problem and stated "this could be a matter of personal preferences" regarding how I felt the car drove when this occurred. The Toyota manager also told me today that they understand "there could be a problem but they have no direction on how to repair it. " when asked then if he could guarantee my safety and that this would not occur again he stated no, but there was nothing for him to do. No injuries to date. I do not feel Toyota is making reasonable efforts to quickly eliminate this problem, acknowledge a problem, and do not wish to resolve this with statements regarding my personal preference for the drive, and since this in their opinion is not reproducible for them it is not a viable problem for them to repair. 2) on approximately 2-11-10 I had to use my brakes in an emergency situation in which my brakes were temporally non-response. I had to downshift the gears, remove my foot totally from the gas pedal ,and maneuvered the car away from the other stopped car. No abs was felt, the brake pedal was depressed fully, this occurred at hwy speeds. No acknowledgement of problem or remedy proposed by toy currently.

As I was turning off a main road to a store parking lot my vehicle begain to accelerate after I removed my foot from the brake. I was going about 10mph at the time. I was able to quickly stop the car and turn it off. At this time, I will not allow anyone in my family to drive this vehicle. I am an engineer and there is no question in my mind that this vehicle was accelerating on its own after I removed my foot from the brake and I was driving on a road with no grade (flat road).

I was driving a rental 2010 Toyota Corolla in siesta key, FL. I came to a stop on a busy downtown street on a Friday night. As I sat at a complete stop with my foot on the brake as pedestrains were crossing, the car unexpectedly accelerated forward. I did not have my foot on the gas pedal & as this happened, I held my foot firmly on the brake to avoid hitting the pedestrians. Luckily, I was able to hold the car back until the acceleration ended. This happened before the problem with Toyota acceleration was made public. I reported this problem to the enterprise car rental agency in port charlotte FL, where I rented it, but they did not seem concerned. It wasn't until a week later that this story was in the news. I called the nhtsb to file a complaint, I'm filing this complaint again after hearing the gov't response to the study of this problem. From personal experience, I know for a fact this is not correct. This car I drove did not have the pedal stick or floor mat problem. It definitely accelerated completely on it's own without the pedal being depressed. If needed , I may be able to locate the VIN from my rental receipt.

Toyota of kingsport 2525 east stone drive kingsport, TN 37660 on November 27, 2009, I purchased a 2010 Toyota Corolla, from a 3rd party for my ex-wife of gate city, virginia. During the test drive, the 3rd party and I discussed the accelerator problem that was being reported in the news and on many internet websites. He assured me that there was not a problem. He also told me that the Corolla had never in its entire history been the subject of a recall. I later found out this to be untrue. There is also a problem with the steering on this car. It wanders at higher speeds and will not hold a straight line. This is a serious and dangerous defect, especially for a 60-year old woman. You cannot take your eye off the road even for a split second or you may find yourself in the next lane or running off the road. This is highly unacceptable. According to the news, this steering defect has been reported to Toyota on many occasions. My ex wife is on disability. She had major heart surgery in February, 2009. She had two heart valves replaced, two heart artery by-passes and had to have a graft on her heart aorta. She has many other disabilities to deal with. This was her first new car in 13 years. She previously drove a Toyota tercel for 13 years - a good car. Together, we have owned a camry, tercel, tundra, tacoma and now this Corolla. But I can assure you that this will be the last Toyota I will ever buy. Toyota has know about these defects but still continued to sell them to the public. The word that comes to mind is fraud. I am at a loss as what to do. I am also on disability and cannot afford to replace this car for her and I worry each day that she has to drive this car. Please respond in writing how you plan to address this situation. As each day passes, the chance of her being involved in an accident grows greater. You will receive a copy of this letter by certified mail.

I own a 2010 Toyota Corolla. On several occasions, when I apply the brake, there is a shuddering feeling and sound before the braking hooks in. I would say this has happend about 10 times in the 6 months I have owned the car. In light of the other braking problems, I am more and more concerned about this one. I plan to discuss this to with Toyota when I take my car for the other breaking and accelerator repairs. However, in light of all of the problems with the new cars, what is it going to take before the dot insists that there be a buyback of these 2009-1010 cars, which are obviously full of problems. Where will it end? more accidents? I want my money back.

When using either the air re-circulation button or the air conditioning I sometimes get a sickening smell like anti-freeze. I brought the vechile in to the dealer in September and they said they saw no loose hose or obvious leak. This problem is intermittent in nature and when I had the car there it was not doing it. They said they would not remove the dash unless they could smell the odor. I had a surgery for lung cancer last year and I believe this odor to be harmful to be breathing.

My concern is with the brake recall on Toyota Corollas that was started on August 26th, 2009. First, the recall only applies to 19 states. . . . What about those of us that drive across state lines? or if the car is sold to someone from another state? then it is ok if the brakes fail? we have been waiting since August to hear from them regarding this issue. Second, I no longer believe much (if anything) that Toyota tells us. Therefore, I want you to 1) demand that they recall all Toyota Corollas with the brake problem, and 2) perform your own investigation to be certain that the problem is as they describe it. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

The contact wanted to report a fatal accident involving a 2004 Toyota celica. The vehicle was traveling approximately 60 mph on normal road conditions. The driver was ejected from the vehicle during a rollover crash. The vehicle turned over three times. A police report was filed. The vehicle was completely destroyed and the cause of failure has not been determined. The failure mileage and VIN were unknown.

Car stalled in the middle of hwy in 2009. No warning lights came on. After diagnoses mechanic provided me a technical bulletin that I have a bad ecm. Took to Toyota and Toyota denied the claim and made me replace a fuel pump instead. Once the fuel pump was replaced the cars still wouldn't run. Another diagnostic indicated it was the ecm, which was covered under warranty. Nothing was wrong with the fuel pump. Toyota did not want to recognize a long standing problem with ecms. 3 mechanics indicated it was the ecm.

I have experienced great amount of stress due to my 2009 Toyota Corolla. I experience the car shifting from right to left at high speeds (over 65 mph). I took it to Toyota of orange and they tested and legally they can only go 60mph or highway speed-limit. They kept denying any problems with the car, & came back to speak with the Toyota representative. I went in 3 times prior to this to see if they could find a problem, she said there's nothing wrong after special 'tests' were done. After that we took it in again and they performed an alignment which helped a little during regular speeds. But I still have the same problem, I recently took it in for the re-call, glad that was fixed, but at 70-80 mph if I shift into another line that is putting my life in great danger! I drive slower but I live in southern California so sometimes its unsafe to be driving at such speeds. I have also been experiencing paint problems with the vehicle, various scratches I don't know where they appear from, and my car is garaged mostly. There also a couple of chips in the paint, I took it in and they just washed and detailed the vehicle, which did help but there's scratches again, the paint seems to be defective. Another problem I'm experiencing with this vehicle is randomly maybe once or twice a month when started in the morning (parked in the garage which isn't cold at all) the whole car vibrates horrible, coming from the engine, as if its not held together well. It lasts for around a minute. I took it in to the dealership and they said since its not a constant problem they cant detect but if I leave it over night and if it happens they'll see, of-course it didn't happen they claimed they tested everything possible and there was no check engine lights etc. No signs when the steering goes crazy. Obviously this car is a defect the reason why I purchased a Toyota Corolla was because I have no problems with my 2005, and all the other cars I have owned, don't have steering or paint problems.

Driving on 2 lane blacktop road, dog in my path of travel, firmly applied the brakes, car was pulled to the right, went off the road and continued to travel parallel until I struck a gravel entry driveway to a field with the front of my vehicle and then flipped end over end 3 times according to witness finally resting on its top. Upon looking at the scene, there was one (1)black skid mark. The highway was dry, there was a very slight incline in the road and it was a straight stretch. The weather was overcast. The insurance company would not investigate my complaint and insisted that I swerved. I called Toyota and they "checked the brakes" on the totalled car and the headlight operation. I had called them to figure out what had gone wrong. In their report they said there was nothing wrong with the brakes or headlights. I had reported that prior to this incident that the headlights would go on for no apparent reason at the same location (an area where my cell phone coverage would go out). The accident occurred near an airport which was another area where my cell phone coverage would go out. Since I had fractured my sternum and had the discolored imprint of the turn signal on my chest, I thought that the air bag should have deployed on first impact. I questioned the brakes and electronic/electrical system. Their report is dated 11/11/2008 and does not indicate a file or complaint number.

2009 Toyota Corolla - gas pedal sticking problem while on the family driveway traveling at about 5 miles per hour, car rapidly accelerated forward after I removed my foot from the gas pedal. Pushing the brake down as hard as I could the car continued traveling forward crashing into my daughter's car, then pushing her car through the right side of the garage door & through the house wall completely damaging my daughter's car (totaled) destroying the garage door while smashing down that portion of the house wall. And then further inside colliding into a large dryer & washing finally coming to rest against an inside house wall beam & concrete. My daughter was almost hit as she was on the other side of the wall when the cars crashed through. We've always maintained that it was Toyota's fault as it was without question, a case of unintended acceleration--the car rapidly accelerated forward on its own, but Toyota insisted it was not the cause of their car. Toyota, at my cost and our insurance company, state farm, made all the repairs to the car--Toyota refused to take liability for involvement with the cause of the accident. So there we were, who could refute mighty Toyotathey were the premier car company & they made almost perfect cars. Obviously with their 2nd recall in a matter of months that image has now been somewhat dispelled. In speaking with Toyota today I was advised that my Corolla would not be included in their recall as I was advised that the pedal assembly in my car was manufactured in japan by nipo-denso and not the pedal assembly involved with the so-called sticking gas pedal problem, as that assembly, was manufactured in the united states by cts. While I appreciate what Toyota stated about different assemblies, I can state unequivocally my car accelerated forward even though I was pressing the brake pedal the hold time while the car raced forward. No one incurs such damage pressing the brakes. I would ask for your review and comments.

On August 6, 2008, I was driving down hwy 61 to clarksdale, ms when my accelerator stuck; I tried using the brakes, but it was too late and I hit a large animal and lost control of my car. My car flipped over and turned on it's side and then landed back down. I couldn't believe what happened and I was scraped up and shaken up really bad. This could have been a terrible tragedy, but I survived this crash with only minor scrapes and bruises. I didn't call the police because the car was driveable and the accelerator wasn't sticking anymore. The same week I took the car to a toyoto dealer to check out the accelerator, and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. My car received over $1,300. 00 worth of damages as a result of the crash.

I have a 2005 Corolla s. It had a really bad vibration in the dash and could not be detected. The dealer removed the dash numerous times over a 7 week period. The vibration was finally located in the pillar(it was the drain pipe for the sunroof). The dash now has a vibration that at 70 mph sounds like a loud whistle- very annoying. The dealer will not work on it because the original 36,000 mile warranty is past. I believe that the roseburg oregon dealer should stand behind the fact that they removed the dash enough to cause this vibration.

(problem - clutch) purchased 2005 Toyota Corolla xrs in 08/04 (no longer made). Taken it regularly to have it svc'd at charles barker Toyota laskin rd - virginia beach, va. I've had to take it back a few times in btwn the regular sched svc. Approx 39,123 miles. Purchased the platinum extended warranty plan. 10nov06 I paid $281. 27 for the 30,000 miles svc, because I was told that I needed it. 11apr07 I paid $252. 90 for the 35,000 miles svc, again because I was told by the dealer that I needed. I do not drive my car in a way that the clutch would've burned out in 3yrs. Online (toyotafinancial. Com)/new vehicle protection plan comparison/manual transmission- it shows everything that is covered by the warranty. There are items listed for the clutch that is covered by the warranty. When I called about the warranty (purchased through Toyota) they stated that nothing was covered. Which I don't understand. Because they're stating 2 different things. If the platinum coverage online is not correct, then that's false advertisement. Fidelity warranty services, inc. P. O. Box 8567 deerfield beach, florida 33443 1-800-327-5172 contract nbr. 38848636. I don't expect them to cover the whole amount that was quoted. But the either the dealer or the warranty should help cover some of the expense. The maintenace of the car has been kept up. There's no reason why the clutch should've went out in 3yrs. I was told by Toyota dealership - asst. Svc mgr to call the warranty company. When I called the warranty company, I was told that I wasn't suppose to be calling them. So I'm getting the run around & the whole amount is going to be put me regardless. Which is unfair. It has never been hard to shift into gears, but for the past weeks when you go into 5th & 6th gear (there was no griding sound as if it had problems going into gear), the car seem as if it was unable to pick up speed & when you pressed on the gas the motor just sounded louder & there was a burning smell.

2007 Toyota Corolla customer states that the dealership lied to her about the car * the consumer stated when purchasing the vehicle that his granddaughter did not know too much about cars and purchased a new vehicle with power locks and windows. The consumer noticed that the granddaughter was opening the car with a key and not with a remote control opener. Immediately, the consumer went to the dealer and informed them of the problem. A different salesperson informed them that original sales rep was not in that day and what the granddaughter received was power lock but that it only automatically locks and unlocks on the inside not outside of the car. The remote control was an additional charge. The consumer is requesting the remote control at no additional cost and also wishes to receive the $4,000 deductible that was stated on the mailing flyer, however the dealer states the deductible was only for used cars not the new vehicles.

The consumer states when purchasing vehicle the dealer never provided her with the master key to the vehicle, she was instructed by alfredo at the dealership to pick the key up a week later. After 10 days, the consumer did not feel safe and did not trust the dealer. The consumer had the key reprogrammed for safety reasons. My Corolla stalled in a flooded street that was visibly passable for other vehicles, both small and large. As a result of the exposure to the water, the car experienced a major engine failure. During a discussion with a representative at the dealership, I learned that the air-in-take system is located relatively low to the ground "on the bumper. " this seems to be a design flaw which could lead to the car failing to perform during relatively minor flooding conditions.

Interior door handles are plated with a chrome metallic plating. Metal plating is poorly attached and starts flaking off of plastic door handle. When metal plating starts peeling off, it is very thin and sharp. It has resulted in numerous fingers being cut / sliced open. One handle was replaced under warranty. Since the warranty ran out, the other three handles have flaked and peeled as well. In order to "fix" two of the handles, I cut and scraped any remaining metal plating off of the handles to leave only the ivory colored plastic handle. The third handle is getting to the point where I will need to remove the metal plating soon.

On passenger vehicles with vehicle identification numbers (VIN) starting with 1nx only and built from January 8 through February 13, 2002, it is possible for the bolts that join the rear brake and hub assembly to the rear axle carrier to be loose due to insufficient tightening during the assembly process. After experiencing a noise from the rear of the car, I brought my 2003 Toyota Corolla to the dealer. One interesting not, is I never had the estimated gas mileage on my Corolla, and brought this to the dealers attention numerous times. I would only get 31-33 mpg on the highway and worse in the city. I think the bearings on the 2003 Corolla are defective. I have a friend who also has a 2003 Corolla and had the same problem after only 2 years of driving. Our vehicles did not make the recall, but all 2003 Corollas should be included.

I recently had my mechanic put new brakes on my car and he said my engine was running rather loudly. I took it to denbigh Toyota for a diagnostic check and they determined it was the timing chain. They put a tensioning unit on it and that did not correct the problem. Upon further digging in the car, it was determined that the chain was rubbing against the engine and leaving metal shavings in the engine. My car only has less than 70,000 miles on it and the Toyota place said they dont' see this problem until there are at last 150,000 to 200,000 miles on this type of 1999 Toyota Corolla. I bought the car brand new in 1998 and thought I would not have any major problems such as this in such a short period of time.

On hot and humid days, condensation builds up inside the ventilation system. This causes water to pool (and remain pooled) in the ventilation system. As a result severe mildew growth has occurred in ventilation system. This mildew creates and awful sewage smell, and is extremely irritating to my allergies. Dealer sprayed lysol disinfectant in ventilation intake. The problem came back a week later. To this day, I continually must spray lysol in the ventilation system. Many types of mildew can be toxic to any human (not just allergy sufferers), and are *known* to cause cancer, which is very concerning to me. Toyota's "official" solution to this problem is to keep spraying lysol in the ventilation system, and to open the windows when the [sewage] smell becomes unbearable. I personally know other 2005 Corolla owners, and their Corolla's suffer from the same problem. *****I cannot provide the VIN as I am away at my first year of college, without my car, and do not have data more specific than what is stated. I bought a Toyota Corolla 2004 sedan from gordie boucher Nissan, 10606 w. Arthur avenue, west allis, wisconsin, phone no. 414-543-1234 on sept. 27th. The car was in very good condition, and both my husband, joy joseph and I didn't notice that the head rests for the back seats were missing. When we found that we broght this to the dealer's attention. They are not willing to get us two head rests for the back. My husband went to the Toyota dealer as we still have the full warranty from Toyota, and they are also not willing to provide us with the head rests. I know that in a collission it will be dangerous to have passengers in the back seat where they will have severe neck injuries. Before something severe happens, I would like to have the head rests in place. Please help me in getting this resolved.

I have had my car for 2 years now, every time I take the car into the dealer I show them the gap and the warping up of the console above the radio. Still until this day, they say there is nothing that can be done. It has been getting worse and more of the top console is popping up causing a rattling noise. I also smell that bad egg/ sulfur smelling order when I use the ac or the heat. I am sure this cant be good for anyone's health. Something needs to be done with both of these complaints. Factory recall?.

The second trip in,the molding was replaced which has helped for the most part. At first there was a big gap on the sides and on top of the radio and molding. It still is not 100% perfect as I would wish for a brand new car but it looks better now than it did in the beginning.

Unknown Or Other problem #91

I purchased a 2002 Toyota Corolla and found that my nasal passages burned, my mouth had a bitter chemical taste and I felt spacy when I drove the car for more than 15 minutes. I developed a headache and my lungs burned if I was in the car for 45 minutes or more. The longer I was in the car the longer it took to get rid of this toxic chemical feel in my respitory system. The dealer was willing to trade me out of this "toxic" car into a new one but even though I eagerly tried a new Corolla, echo, and matrix, the new cars were even worse. I have owned brand new Toyotas twice before and have driven this make for 20 years. The one I traded was purchased in 1992. Much to my shock and disbelief, the chemical offgassing inside models as old as 2000's has made it impossible for me to buy a new or even relatively new Toyota. I have recently ridden in a new Dodge caravan and a new volkswagan, golf without a problem.

The car has a rotten egg smell. It happens sporadically. I've called both the dealer and Toyota a number of times. They tell me it is the gas - and to try different brands of gas. I called the epa and spoke with jim caldwell and he said it was not the gas. I called the WI dept of transportation and jim chaja said that another lady from appleton called in on Monday about the same thing. She was getting ready to file under the lemon law. She bought hers from gustman, I bought mine from kolosso. Toyota claims they stand by their research and believe the epa is wrong.

When I first went to look for a car I asked them for a demo and have since found out that the vehicle they sold me was pre-owned by at least two others. The paint has been damaged on the hood, top, sides & trunk. They have stated they have all their is dotted so there is nothing they will do. They have tried to blame me stating I followed a truck leaking acid or gravel, or acid rain, it hasn't rained prior to the damage. Drove over road work, I waxed the car, parked under a tree & sap did the damage. The converter exploded, all these things were said on the same day to me. If the damage was there why did they apply the clear coat? during my visit a man came in stating he did the clear coat & he tried to buff out the damage!!if you are unable to handle this type of situation please forward this and refer me to the correct places. This car has visited at the dealer's service station for almost a total of 3 weeks combined since I bought it April 2000. Gas leaked when putting gas in tank and the car smelled of gas on the inside. The tank was supposedly replaced but just recently started leaking again. The check engine light has been on a total of 3 times. Plus the right front and rear wheels make noise. I just want the car fixed because Corolla's are good cars but the constant visits to the dealership for one thing or another is really starting to annoy me and has become a huge inconvenience.
