Car has been feeling strange at 60mph - pulls to left sometimes and if the wind blows it feels like its going to loose traction. Today this happened with some rain on the road care lost traction pulled left hit a transfer truck - spun around in the road into a hill and rolled. Car is totaled and my wife was lucky not to have been killed. The back of the car is gone! if this happens in the wind people are going to get killed in the rain. This needs fixed.
Around 250-300 miles I went over a dip in the road at about 40 mph and went to hit the brakes while taking a turn that was approaching a stoplight when the brakes would not let me push them down and would give me feedback as if abs was active. After a couple seconds I was able to reapply pressure to the brakes to stop. This happened a total of eight times in 2,100 miles. The car has been in some close calls, and all the incidents happened after hitting a dip while trying to reduce my speed from over 50 mph to the time of hitting the dips. It feels like abs is activating, and in turn not allowing me to apply pressure to the brakes. Another incident happened as I was going down the freeway approaching traffic and I went over a dip on the freeway and the brakes would not allow me to stop for about a couple of seconds. I regained brakes with enough time to make a stop, but I would say it was a safe stop. I had another incident where the brakes failed as I was exiting a freeway and I would not apply my brakes for the first turn, and I could only apply pressure to the brakes after I started to enter the second turn coming within inches of colliding the car in front of me. These near accidents were enough for me to report it to Toyota. After bringing it to Toyota, they tested the car for 15 miles and told me it was functioning as it was engineered to. I am positive that this car is not safe to drive. I bought it on 5/23/11 with 10 miles on it, and drove it a total of 2,150 miles.

Purchased a new 2010 Corolla. Driving home from work last week, I had two service lights on (my car has 1400 miles on it). The steering in the car seemed "loose" as I drove home, but when I went to turn on my street, the steering wheel did not turn and the abs failed. I hit a curb on the opposite side of the road damaging a strut and an alloy wheel. My local dealer, lakeland Toyota, told me it was not their problem but that I needed to figure out how to pay for the repairs. They told me that they had no idea why those two warning lights were on. I am currently trying to work with Toyota corporate to get this resolved in a manner that I will feel safe driving the car. Kind of hard to do when they refuse to accept that there is a problem.
My Toyota Corolla ce sedan automatic, 2008. Mileage 69938. Warranty is out. 04/25/10 while my car was parked I started engine, gas pedal did not accelerate. , engine had low tone & slowly went off. I tried 4-5 times, pressing on gas pedal while engine was on, same result. Finally. I started engine, without depressing gas pedal, I backed up, then, I put gear in drive & moved the car forward, after abt 2 minutes I depressed gas pedal, engine accelerated & drove on. It has been normal ever since. I had previous 2 similar cases but engine accelerated on 2nd try. 4/26/10, I reported it, as manufacturing defect, to Toyota dealer & asked fixing it without charge to me. Dealer had car checked by a technician, he could not diagnose the cause & said I should leave it for complete inspection at $98/hr. I told customer relations mgr I could not pay it. He had the car inspected again, this time by head mechanic at workshop abt 20 minutes. He said car was ok & could not diagnose the cause. 4/28/10 I faxed all in detail to Toyota motor sales USA inc, torrance, CA, dept wc11 (customer experience center). 04/29/10, they emailed "due to high contact volume, we are unable to respond to your inquiry in a timely manner and it may take several weeks to receive a response to your inquiry". 4/27/10, I emailed "Toyota owners member registration" & registered myself as Toyota member. Then, I reported my problem. 05/04/10 Toyota called, a lady asked me to recount my story, again & again, obviously trying to worn me out. She said she had not seen my original report, so I faxed her copy of my fax 5/04/10 & asked her help. 05/04/10, she emailed: I should contact dealership. "if the dealership discovers a warranty concern, all fees will be covered, otherwise you would be responsible for all costs related to the inspection. . . . . "
my question to you (NHTSA-dot"=
have similar cases been reported to you. What shall I do next ?.

Since purchasing my 2009 Corolla I had to have a belt change, I had an issue with the accelerator pedal they stated was my floor mat, and then my accelerator pedal would stick. The problem with the accelerator pedal would include times of low acceleration to the pedal sticking in the depressed position even if my foot was off the accelerator. In addition, since the snow is greater this year giving me a better idea how it handles in the snow I have encountered a dangerous problem that scares me. I wrote to Toyota about it on 2/24/10 and today 2/26/10. Below is my last e-mail to them. "driving in the snow 2/25/10 I encountered several times when the traction control kicked in and I had power loss to the vehicle. It happened even on the highways. The car would slow to almost a stop. I pressed and pressed on the accelerator picking up my foot and putting down at times to see if it would help but it would continue to slow or have total power loss where I could not go. It was as if I had no power to the accelerator. The pedal was limp. It is very dangerous, especially on a highway! driving and having the car then slow or stop or almost stop to where I can't go is dangerous, please help!!!!! again, in the drop down menu below for the sub-type of vehicle Corolla is not listed as a category. My car is a 2009 Corolla". The date selected below as incident date: I selected the incident date as the date of the last time the incident occurred even though the problem has also occurred before this date.

I have felt that there is a problem with the brakes of my 2010 Toyota Corolla since shortly after I bought it. The brakes vibrate or pulsate without warning. It seems that the abs is activated for no reason. I am not stopping short and the road has not been slippery . I brought the car to the dealer and they claimed that there is nothing wrong with the brakes. Another problem I have noticed with the brakes is that they seem to grind when I am braking over bumpy surfaces. It happens with out warning, I never know when it will occur. I called the dealer and the mechanic said it is just the abs, nothing to worry about. The problem seem similar to the prius brake complaints. Finally, I notice that sometimes as I am stopping that the brakes seem to slip a little but then take hold.
Bought a 2010 Corolla on 12/26/09 with goodyear eagle LS 2 tires. Upon driving home my steering was weaving left to right felt as though I was driving on ice and/or hydroplaning. Toyota regional rep came from corporate, looked at the steering 2 wks ago. Steering improved until driving in rain on 4/4/10 the steering became loose and the car was weaving left to right and I was once again hydroplaning at 65 mph goodyear man said when traction is lost to the road, the vehicle will hydroplane. (these tires are dangerous) the consumer stated it was very difficult to control the steering. The vehicle would wander into the next lane. The consumer also stated the vehicle did not always stop in time when the brakes were applied. The consumer was told the vehicle was equipped with abs and they were much better and safer. Purchased 2009 Corolla in April 2008 - some major complaints are provided: (1) family does not feel safe in car - a lot of stress, pain and inconvenience to continue to have car serviced - dissatisfied with car's performance. (2) electronic power steering (eps) - car sways and cannot stay in straight line - noticeable on a daily basis - dealership tried to correct - still drifting - complained - dealership changed wheels/tires - swaying still exists - dealership said I just needed to "get use to the new eps" (3) loud cabin noise - car was advertised as being quiet - a lot of road noise (4) rattling noise - manifold pan bolt fell out - bolt was replaced (5) involuntary acceleration - accelerator pedal was replaced after "reinforcement fix" did not work. (6) owned 2003 and 2004 Corollas that did not have as many problems.

purchased 2003, Toyota, Corolla, VIN: [xxx] with daughter. Veh was purchased from Toyota of orange in CA. Two days later a hit and run driver forced veh to skid across five lanes on interstate 10 in ontario, CA, and landed atop center divider. The vehicle was sent to repair shop and "repaired" after approximately 5-8 months. However, the car was never properly repaired, and I complained to both Toyota , and to the insurance company, allstate, but Toyota adamantly stated the veh was without problems. The car was continually in the shop for the brakes. Eventually the carpet caused the accelerator to become stuck and the car went out of control. I was forced to reach down while the car moving and pull the carpet with both hands to release the accelerator. Stepping on the brakes did not help. Neither Toyota repair nor allstate would help resolve our complaints since 2003, we were simply told that the veh was fine. Additionally I believe the frame is bent, lack of interlocking brakes causing skids, brakes are soft and drop to floor, and poor steering column. This car is dangerous and is impossible to drive without involving near miss accident episodes. The car skids if going as little as 5-10 miles per hour. I offered to give the car away to anyone who was willing to investigate my complaints, all to no avail. I just recently learned that one of the problems I heard in the brand new car was a hole in the exhaust system. Toyota continually denied this for 5-6 years, then by accident a very young newly employed staff at Toyota of orange, informed us that our complaint about loud air sounding noise was a hole in the exhaust, which had been continually making the noise, and burning of eyes (migraines). The brakes were repaired every 2-4 months or less until I just reported less frequently. The car is now no longer under warranty. Currently it needs some brakes, rotors, drums, calipers, and shocks as always.
