Air Bag Not Deploy problems of the 2001 Toyota Echo

The contact owns a 2001 Toyota Echo. The contact stated that while driving at 20 mph, the vehicle accelerated without warning. The vehicle crashed into a house garage door and the air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained a waist injury and the front passenger sustained chest and arm injuries which required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

Consumer's vehicle was struck from behind by another vehicle at about 5 mph. In turn, consumer's vehicle hit the car in front. Upon impact the air bags did not deploy.

While driving between 35 to 40 mph consumer lost control and was involved in a front end collision. Upon impact, air bags did not deploy. Also, no air bag warning light appeared prior to the crash. Driver wore a seat belt.

While driving at 55 mph was involved in a front collision. Upon impact, air bags did not deploy. Manufacturer was contacted, and stated that they will be sending somebody to see the vehicle, but nobody has come to see the vehicle yet. Ts. . . . . .

The consumer (which is the mother of the person who sent this correspondence)-had come to a curve where she misjudged the turn, and caused her to slide off of the right side of the road and hit a pine tree. The impact ignited a fire under the hood. The driver side air bag did not deploy.

Consumercomplained having problems with fire on the engine. Also stated that while driving the vehicle was involved on a front collision and the vehicle got on fire which it lead into a total lost of the vehicle and the air bags did not deployed . Dealer was not contacted at the time of this call. Ts moment after impact the fire had ignited underneath the hood. The driver side air bag did not deploy but the passenger side air bag did deploy.

Consumer was involved in a full frontal collision, however the airbags failed to deploy, consumer was informed by Toyota that the airbags were not designed to deploy, due to the other vehicle being larger than consumers vehicle.

While driving 10-15 mph was involved in a head-on collision. Upon impact, air bags did not deploy. Consumer sustained major injuries.

Frontal collision involving 2001 Toyota Echo and a conversion van. Driver of van suffered heart failure. Air bags did not deploy and seat belt failed to secure passenger upon impact.

Consumer states during a frontal collision, the air bags failed to deploy.

Vehicle was in full frontal collison with another vehicle, entire front was smashed and the air bags did not deploy, one person was injured in the accident.
