36 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2020

Frame of the vehicle is having whole spots and unsafe the drive the vehicle. I don't know why there is no recall in this vehicle. Even there is frame recalls for the same year and model cars. Why not my car doesn't have recalls. I want to get into bottom of this.

37 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2020

The entire frame is badly rusted to the point of being unsafe. The car has been regularly washed and well maintained. All other components are in great working order, but the car now need extensive frame repairs to remain road worthy. In addition, the straps holding the fuel tank in place rusted through and nearly caused the tank to fall out of the car.

38 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2020

Have owned the vehicle for over 4 years and rust on frame has gotten progressively worst. Vehicle has become unsafe to drive due to rear suspension likely to collapse due to holes in frame. Dangerous to drive and if vehicle where to be in an accident the whole structure could collapse. Very unhappy with Toyota experience.

39 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2020

My fram is completely rusted out I have never had a car with this problem.

40 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2020

Frame has a lot of rust. The straps to hold the gas tank broke due to rusting. Rear bumper frame has also rusted.

41 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2019

The frame of my 2007 Toyota Fj Cruiser is rusting uncontrollably. It was "descaled" and sprayed with protecting fluid. The descaling revealed significant frame rust. My passenger rear shock mount has rusted completely and the shock has become free from the frame. I have yet to get an accurate estimate of the damage but will soon.

42 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2019

Previously filed complaint for structural frame rust and while removing components to see if that's repairable I found 1 of the 2 straps that hold the fuel tank in place to be 90% rusted through and the other one not far behind.

43 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2019

Frame seems very rusted as do suspension components.

44 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2019

While upgrading to steel bumpers from the flimsy plastic crap most vehicles come with these days, found significant frame rot. Somehow the Fj Cruiser is not part of the previous Toyota recalls. I can assure you they're at least as susceptible as the tacomas et al. I'm now on the hunt for an affordable replacement frame, which seems to be merely a pipe dream. I love this vehicle and will do whatever it takes to repair it but, come on Toyota. This is not what the market expects from you!.

45 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2019

Frame is rotting away just as the tacoma frames did in this time frame of model year. Afraid the vehicle will soon be unfit to drive due to safety concerns. Gas tank straps are also rotting from under the vehicle. This has come to light when I was driving down a city street and my gas tank strap broke causing the take to drop from the bottom of the vehicle.

46 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2019

Structural frame rust over the entire frame and fuel tank straps.

47 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2019

Rotted rust issue all over the undercarriage.

48 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2019

Rust found in the frame throughout, tank straps as well.

49 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2019

Frame rust and fuel tank strap rust.

50 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2019

Excessive rust of the frame. Have found multiple holes in structural areas such as the transmission cross member welds meeting the frame. Failure of the frame coating all over. Frame rot from the inside causing holes from the inside out. Also rusting from areas such as control arms, rear end links, and differential mounts. Will provide more pictures when I have the availability to do so.

51 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

While inspecting excessive rust from my frame and the parts of the frame that have failed (already reported), we noticed the gas straps. They are completely rusted and over 3/4 broken because of the rust.

52 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

My vehicle has substantial frame rot in the rear section of the frame and the rear bumper reinforcement. I have attempted to cut out rotten sections of the frame and welded in steel plates to keep the frame from collapsing. I have also bought a new section of frame from Toyota to replace the bumper reinforcement. I was told by Toyota that there are currently no recalls on Fj Cruiser frames and that the frames are not faulty. But the amount of frame rot on this 12 year old vehicle seems excessive. I am afraid that the vehicle would collapse in the event of a rear end collision. So far, no components have failed or fallen off during driving.

53 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2019

Structural frame failure from rust.

54 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2019

Frame on rear passenger side corroded and right rear stabilizer bar completely detached from the frame while driving on interstate highway.

55 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2019

2007 Toyota Fj Cruiser. There is widespread and significant rusting on the frame and drivetrain components. Well-maintained, and not located in a salty environment, nor an environment where the roads are ever salted. This vehicle is utilizes the same frame as another Toyota vehicle (4runner), and that vehicle was involved with the frame-rusting recall during the same time period this vehicle was manufactured.

56 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/31/2019

Structural frame rust. I have already had to have plates welded in to support stab links. Also a gas tank strap had to be replaced because it had rusted through.

57 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2018

Fuel tank strap rust. I noticed my fuel tank hanging low one day. Turns out a fuel tank strap had rusted in two. I had someone weld the strap back together to hold my fuel tank in place. Vehicle was stationary when noticed. In the attached picture you can see the weld repair that is now holding the fuel tank in place.

58 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2018

Structural frame rust. The frame is very rusty and thin with lots of holes in it. I fear for my safety and the safety of my passengers. The rear cross member is extremely rusted and would not hold in a rear end collision. In this particular incident the driver's side rear lower control arm broke free while driving at 55mph and sent the truck out of control in to the next lane. Luckily no one was injured and slowing down kept it under control. This was on a small highway while slightly turning left.

59 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2018

Driver's seat broke while I was driving the vehicle. A bolt snapped off under the seat for the mechanism that controls the up and down height adjustment. The seat was in the highest position possible when it happened and as a result, the seat dropped about 7-8 inches to the floor, causing a back injury for me. When this happened, the driver's seat geometry was off so significantly that the backrest was reclined too far and I couldn't see out the windshield or reach the pedals. I am disabled and it is a miracle that I was' in an accident as a result of this. I contacted Toyota and there had been a service bulletin to repair the driver's seat in my vehicle, but the dealership never informed me of it, even though I had complained several times about the seat losing its height setting. Now Toyota will not repair the seat because it is out of warranty. I am the original owner of the car and it has 111,000 miles on it. The seat mechanisms broke while I was driving over a rough section o city street in san diego, California at about 12 mph. I was driving in a straight line and slowing down to stop at a red light when it happened. I can't drive the car for more than a few minutes at a time with the broken seat because it is too painful for my back injury.

60 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2018

A few weeks ago I was working on my vehicle and I had to remove the rear bumper then I found the chassis damaged by so much deep rust, that for a moment I just thought to brush and put an anti corrosive but the damage is not fixed with brushing and painting. I call Toyota for a frame recall and they don't have any yet. My vehicle it's not safe to pull anything. I also feel that one of these days the body can be detached from the chassis.

61 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/24/2017

Vehicle will not changed gear from park to drive.

62 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2017

The rust on the frame is mind blowing. Rust holes in frame and gas tank straps, and suspension parts. This is dangers and someone can be injured or dead.

63 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

The frame has rusted beyond expectations, wrong kind of metal or lack of treatment on metal causing oxidation, causing a safety issue of the power steering braking loose and causing potentially injuries or death to passengers. Vehicule is at home.

64 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

2007 Toyota Fj Cruiser frame rotting from inside and out. Rear upper control arm mounts rusting looking like its about to break off. Unsafe to drive. 13 year old frame should not be anywhere near this condition.

65 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2014

Frame has very premature rust issues. Structure of the vehicle is comprised due to well known issue of poor frame coating during manufacture of vehicle.

66 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2013

When trying to put my car in reverse I could not move the gear shift lever. It was frozen. The abs, all the trac annunciator lights stayed on. I had to bypass the gear shift to be able to move the car. I went on line to look up possible causes and was told to contact some of the auto parts companies like auto zone etc. And have them hook up their computer tester to troubleshoot this problem. I haven't had a chance to take it by yet.

67 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2013

Frame rusted, rear cross-member rusted, gas tank straps rusted, suspension rusted/compromised.

68 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2013

The driver's left foot rest came loose and went under the brake pedal. I was able to clear the pedal before breaking. I think this could be a wide-spread issue after looking at several internet posts.

69 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2013

I bought this car when the milage was 36000. I still own this truck, the problem I have with this vehicle is too much noise comming from the rear side. I took it to Toyota dealer and was told the bearing is bad on one side of the wheel. I got both rear bearing replaced but the noise remian the same. I talk to Toyota but no fix at all. Still drivivng it with ear plug.

70 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2012

The driver foot rest (dead pedal) on this car breaks loose easily and becomes a loose object under and around the driver foot pedals. I had mind come loose while driving and didn't realize it until I attemped to stop my car and was unable to depress the break pedal because the broken foot rest had lodged it's self under the break pedal after breaking loose. I ended up having to swerve around the car in front of me on the highway to avoid an accident, before stopping with the e-break on the side of the highway. Extremely dangerous!.
