Mice or rats consume the soy-based wires. They consumed one of the fuel injection wires on my 2014 fj. The Toyota dealership charged me $896 for the new connector that was located under the intake manifold.

Review mirror failing to automatically dim under any lighting, including sun, directly entering through the rear window of the vehicle. This has always been like this, it is just with these new high-intensity lights on the new, 2016-2019, that it has become more of a hazard at night. This occurs on all roadways.

Master cylinder failed - have to slam the brake pedal all the way to the floor and then I was still unsure if the car would actually stop. Had twin 3 year old boys in the car, scared for our lives. Dashboard lite up like a christmas tree. Second shop diagnosed it as a failed master cylinder. Parts plus labor = $3,066. I work for the school system and we don't have that sort of money. Will tow it home, hopefully find a used part, and try to replace it ourselves. The only reason I'm logging a complaint (because cars need repairs and I understand that) is because I'm seeing the exact same complaint over and over again "master cylinder Toyota Fj Cruiser 2007". How can so many of the same complaints on the exact same vehicle go unheard? please help, make the master cylinder recall apply to the Fj Cruiser. It obviously should be included. Thank you for your time.
Windshield wipers have failed to work for long periods or have to play with switch to work right. Took car in years ago while under warranty to fix and resolved problem for a few years but is now reoccurring. Also drivers side door window switch intermittenly works. I dont know if this is connected to wiper switch but have seen recalls on other Toyotas that have this problem and had a recall but none for fj. Specifics turn on car, turn on slector switch for wipers "slow thru high it dont matter". Wipers dont work.
Both passenger and driver air bags did not deploy at the impact of a head on collision which totalled the car my son was driving, and he sustained head, back and neck injuries because of that. The car locked up after the crash, disabling him to exit the car and had to be pulled out from the passenger side of the car.
I bought my 2014 Fj Cruiser brand new with 5 miles on it. 6 months into owning it the driver door locks stopped working. The dealer replaced it under warranty. About a year later the passenger locks stopped working and they replaced those under warranty. About 1-1/2 years later the driver lock (that was already replaced) stopped working again. I had 34,000 miles on it and they told me that it's no longer covered under warranty. I told them that the lock they replaced went out but the dealer said the replacement warranty is only good for 1 year after the repair! shortly after the passenger lock went out again as well. And now the back door wont even unlock with the key fob or even manually with the key. The door lock actuators on the cars are terrible! I went to the dealer and the service manager told me they were having a lot of issues with the Toyota locks and for me to keep an eye out for a recall! it's been 3 years now that I've been without locks and no recall! dealer quoted me $900 to fix one door! $360 for the part and the rest labor. Ridiculous especially because they have already replaced these parts in the past under warranty!! what good is it to pay for the same part they already replaced just for them to go out so soon!!!.
When trying to put my car in reverse I could not move the gear shift lever. It was frozen. The abs, all the trac annunciator lights stayed on. I had to bypass the gear shift to be able to move the car. I went on line to look up possible causes and was told to contact some of the auto parts companies like auto zone etc. And have them hook up their computer tester to troubleshoot this problem. I haven't had a chance to take it by yet.
The issue started on 8/23/2012 while driving on I-95 in SC, my 2011 Fj Cruiser trail teams edition tire pressure warning indicator light came on. The very next day, I took my vehicle to a Toyota dealership in west columbia, SC to have it inspected. The dealership could not find anything wrong with the vehicle as the light had turned off that night. However, they did discover an unusual amount of error code messages from the cpu system and thought this may have caused the light to intermittently turn on/off. The dealership reset all error messages and released the vehicle back to me. As it was an isolated incident, I thought there was no reason to worry about it. A week later, while driving my vehicle on I-95 in nc, the same indicator light turned back on, this time for the remainder of my trip home to MD. After contacting Toyota of bowie to inspect the issue, they found nothing wrong with it and released the vehicle back to me. Soon thereafter, the same indicator light turned back on until mid-January 2013 when driving the vehicle to GA, the indicator light turned off. I had the vehicle serviced at I-95 Toyota (near brunswick, GA) and they indicated no issues were found with the vehicle even though I advised them of the incidents. They concluded that when I return home to have the vehicle looked at then. While returning home to MD, the indicator light turned back on and has stayed on ever since. Considering I have not received notice from Toyota for the safety recalls for the vehicle, I discovered them through the NHTSA website and I have an appointment for this morning to have a few current recalls that the dealership knows about to be fixed and will advise Toyota of annapolis (koon's) (where I originally purchased the vehicle) of the indicator light issue and concern. If any further information is needed, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Driver door actuator works inconsistently . Spoke with dealer and told need replacement. Went on line and see it is a frequent problem. No accident or damage to vehicle.

I lease a Toyota 2007 Fj Cruiser which caught on fire. Fire was to steering column area. 911 was called /police and fire responded. The fire was visible from the blinker arm hole. Fire was extinguished by myself. Toyota til this day has not told me the cause. It has been in the dealership since. I don't want the car. Toyota has been called numerous times. Yet no one gives me an answer. I don't want this to happen to any Toyota owner. A guy named troy offered me a $1000. 00 dollars to be on my merry way. I don't want it. Especially after their coverup.
I purchased new a 2008 Toyota Fj Cruiser 2 wheel drive with automatic transmission. Since ownership from March 2009 to date, I have been experiencing a lurching forward of the vehicle while the brakes are applied and at a full stop. This lurching forward occurs when the air conditioner is on and at the time that the air conditioner clutch engages. Most of the time, when the air conditioner clutch engages, the engine rpm only increases about 100 rpm, but frequently, when the a/c clutch engages the engine rpm increases 300 to 400 rpm with normal brake pressure while stopped, 100 rpm engine increases cause no problem, but with 300 to 400 rpm engine increases, normal brake pressures while stopped are not adequate and the vehicle lurches forward. I took the vehicle to the bill penny Toyota service department (huntsville, alabama) on 02/23/2010 and the service report stated that they could not duplicate the problem. The problem has been ongoing since my ownership began.
I have repeatedly complained about the accelerator hesitation in my 2008 Toyota Fj Cruiser. It has been a problem since I purchased it, brand new. I know someone who has the exact same problem with hers. She complained to pauley Toyota, ft. Smith, arkansas I complained to fayetteville auto park Toyota in fayetteville, arkansas. Both dealers solution was to reset computer. Obviously this is a chronic issue with no permanent solution. The danger lies especially when merging onto highways, the hesitation slows the vehicle down and engine revs. Please help. There is no specific incident date so I will choose an arbitrary date in order to submit.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Fj Cruiser. While driving 80 mph, the contact noticed that the cruise control stopped working. He also noticed that the speedometer was moving constantly. He pulled the vehicle to the side of the road and noticed flames coming from the back seats of the vehicle. The fire department extinguished the fire and a police report was filed. The contact did not notice any differences beforehand. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer. The VIN was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 9,800.
Reported problem with backup sonar several times and was ignored because they could not make the vehicle fail (the rear end need to be in the sunlight or on a really hot day to fail). Finally the last time I took it in it was failing almost all the time so after fighting with them for months it was fixed. Fail mileage was approx. 20,000, currently has 32,200.
While traveling a freeway speed the vehicle engine shut off without warning and disabled the power brakes and steering. I verified that the vehicle had 1/4 tank of gasoline and all of the fuses checked out ok. Called Toyota roadside service and they dispatched a tow truck and dropped of vehicle at the nearest dealer.
