2 Tire problem of the 2007 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

2007 Toyota Highlander Hybrid limited tire issue!!!! I maintain my vehicle very well rotate my tires since I bought it in 2007 new! I have approx. 81000 miles cureently and have just put my (4th) set of tires on this vehicle. The tires don't last the miliage waranty that the dealers place on there tires 60-65 k tires! I was very lucky that I checked my tires and every time found that my tires are going below the tread max allowed (bald) at 19-21k on them only!!! Toyota stated to me on the first set of replacements that they don't waranty tires. . . Okay then who is responsible for the misengineering screw up on the tires to this vehicle. I also spoke with other people about this and found out they have the same issue, and someone somewhere is to blame. I hade a 2004 Dodge dakota quad cab 4x4 for my last vehicle and had 90 k on it and was only on my 2nd set the first set finally wore out at 66k so if that truck can go so many miles then how can an highlander get so little miliage out of the same weight ratio. . . It's obviously a tire size manufacturing issue with the specs being all wrong for this vehicle. One other thing is that Toyota puts the same tires on other Toyota's for that year ( rav 4, seinna, camry, and the standard hylander). Obviously this is an issue from the get go because the hylander hybrid limited is a lot heavier then the other cars mentioned, so how can they have the same type of tire!!! this is a mistake, overlook, and or crime. The american consumer should be aware of this and compensated for this issue, and if this issue was known by the people in charge then legal action should be started !!!! but, an investigation should be open to correct and compensate the consumer of these vehicles that I have and other years that have this issue. . . If you had to buy 4 sets of tires on a car that only has 81,000 miles on it you would complain as well!!! tires are not cheap!!! especially the size for this vehicle a 2007 Toyota Highlander Hybrid limited.

4 Tire problem of the 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

Failure Date: 09/25/2010

When I brake it feels like the vehicle actually accelerates a little before the brake kicks in. Almost as if I were stepping on the accelerator and brake at the same time. Does not happen often but often enough that I notice it. Also rear brake pads worn down to metal after about 36,000 mi. Also pre- mature tire wear out. Had to get new tires at 20k.

7 Tire problem of the 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

Failure Date: 04/01/2010

Toyo open country a20 tires 245/55/19 which came as standard equipment on 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid wore significantly and prematurely. At 18000 miles these tires were worn nearly to the wear bars resulting in extremely poor wet and snow traction leading to sliding and hydroplaning. The tread also began to peel on one tire. I did not notice the wear until it was pointed out by a mechanic as they looked good from a distance and I didn't think to check the tread on a 60,000 mile warranty tire at only 18000 miles. Toyota states that this is normal wear and toyo does not honor a mileage warranty on oem tires. These are dangerous tire as they were sold on one of the best selling family vehicles in the industry and could result in a serious accident especially coming into the winter months as owners of low mileage vehicles may not realize that the tires are actually complete worn out already.

8 Tire problem of the 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

Failure Date: 01/05/2010

I own a 2006 Toyota highlander limited hybrid, bought new, currently with 40,000 miles. This vehicle has gone through two sets of tires. The original tires, goodyear integrity tires, were under warranty for 50,000 miles, were replaced at 23,390 miles. At the time, I contacted both Toyota and goodyear to advise them of the premature tire wear. Toyota was dismissive, saying it was not their problem. Goodyear honored their warranty and issued credit on a replacement set of goodyear integrity tires. The second set of tires was replaced on January 5, 2010 with only 15,579 miles on them. In the first replacement, my out-of-pocket costs were $445. 62; recent costs were $547. 12; total out-of-pocket costs for replacing prematurely worn goodyear tires: $992. 74 I am bringing this matter to your attention for three reasons: 1) unless I am the only 2006 Toyota highlander limited hybrid owner with this issue, I believe the evidence shows that the specified tires are inappropriate for the vehicle, and they may present a safety hazard, or at the very least, a great inconvenience to the owner; (2) I believe having to replace tires twice on a vehicle with 40,000 miles on it is both highly unusual and onerous; (3) goodyear may be overstating their tire mileage estimates, a warranty for a tire with 50,000 miles when in fact, it may only get half that if not less. I respectfully ask that you investigate this matter, in the interest of consumer safety and satisfaction. As for myself, I seek reimbursement from both Toyota and goodyear for having to replace two sets of tires on a vehicle with only 40,000 miles on it. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. Please don't hesitate to contact me should you require any additional information.

12 Tire problem of the 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

Failure Date: 06/05/2009

I purchased a 2008 highlander by Toyota. After driving 20k miles , I noticed a vibration in my steering. I then noticed my tires belts were separating and the tread on all was worn down to almost zero. I took my car to the dealer where it was purchased and they said there is no mileage warranty. Yet my understanding was 60 months. When I read it again it said 60 months or the amount of tread left. New tires $900. These tires are a hazard to public safety. I have never had a new vehicle need new tires when it is barely one year old. The tires were removed before I had an incident. I have noticed numerous complaints about these tires on various web sites.

I own a 2008 Toyota highlander vehicle and the front tires have almost all treads worn down already after just 10,000 miles on the vehicle which indicates this vehicle is just chewing tires right up so I am worried about early tire failure. 14 Tire problem of the 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

Failure Date: 02/11/2009

My car, Toyota Highlander Hybrid 2008, tire (245/55 19r) ware out to 2/32 ~ 3/32 at 17500 miles. When it went don to 4/32, garage warn me about tire need to change very soon, I contacted my Toyota dealer and toyo tire but no action has been taken. Almost all of highlander owner complain online at car forum. We didn't get any action from both car and tire dealer. Only one owner get free replacement by dealer from upstate new york. Toyo 245/55 r19 tire is not good at handling on snow and ice. When there was snow, I have to drive very carefully and slowly. Even though I drive very carefully, I slip and skid two or three times. Most of the owner of 2008 and 2009 highlander which come with 245/55 r19 size tire complaint about poor handling on snow and ice even on wet surface. There are only two choices for that kind of size tire and both do not have good result of handling on wet or ice. I hope this report can give some help to other owners of the car which come with 245/55 r19. Thanks.
