3 Wheel problem of the 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

Failure Date: 02/15/2018

While driving 40 mph, my dashboard lit up with brake brake malfunction, abs chevk abs, and check vsc system. All dash lights lit up also. Drove to the repair shop and had codes run. No codes were present. This is related to the c1391 code that has a recall on 06&07 highlanders, and 08 camys. The front right of the engine is making a clicking sound every 20 seconds from the brake stabilizer. Just prior to this for the last 2 weeks, the vehicle has had difficulty obtaining a ready light. Battery has been pulled and bench tested, and all connections were checked. It would appear that in the last two months many 08 owners are presenting with this problem, with a range of proposed repair expense from $3,300 to $6,500. Seeing as this is a known problem with the 08 camry, resulting in brake failure in both camry's and highlander, this ought to be a recall for both vehicles.

4 Wheel problem of the 2007 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

Failure Date: 12/03/2012

After parking on an incline, in cold weather, with the emergency break on, then starting up the car and driving slowly, the rear tires make a grinding noise. I have taken the car in to the dealer twice to address the issue, and they have completely replaced all the break equipment and still the issue continues. They have suggested that I don't need to use my emergency break when parking the car.

5 Wheel problem of the 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

Failure Date: 11/12/2011

After having a flat tire I pulled out the jack supplies by Toyota. I found as I was using the jack that it is extremely unsafe to use in any situation. The jack has to be extended almost all the way when dealing with 19 inch wheels. At the extended height the jack is unstable even when on a flat hard surface. When taking the tire off or putting it back on the jack and the auto rock quite a bit to the point that I had to stop and call for road service. Even the service person called the jack a unsafe piece of equipment. This has happened twice in the last two years and both times with the same results. The scissor jacks used on a SUV is extremely unsafe and needs to be changed. Safety needs to be a priority not weight or expense. It is too easy for the auto to fall off the jack when extended to almost the max.

6 Wheel problem of the 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

Failure Date: 03/03/2011

I am the original owner of this vehicle. This vehicle is used on standard suburban and highway paved roads. No dirt or special condition driving. In March 2011 at about 82,000 miles, the front wheels started making a grinding noise which was noticeable at speeds of 35mph or greater. The dealer replaced the right front hub and bearing assembly. This solved the problem. Then at 87,943 miles in September 2011, the same grinding noise happened to the rear wheels. The dealer replaced the left and right rear hub assemblies and bearings. This solved the problem. I have never owned a car that had 3 out of 4 wheel hub assemblies and bearings break.

7 Wheel problem of the 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

Failure Date: 11/09/2010

I had a tire blowout on intrastate highway damaging wheel. That highway is recently repaired and there were no road hazards in sight at the time of the blowout. Tire had only 15,000 miles of wear and is filled with nitrogen. I personally inspected this tire and there is no damage to the thread. The tires have been rotated twice consistent on average with tire manufacture recommendation of every 7500 miles. Also at the time of the incident the weather 50 degrees and the roadway was clean and dry. The tire line is open country a20 and cannot be entered because its not on the drop down list. A brand new tire and wheel must be purchased.

8 Wheel problem of the 2007 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

Failure Date: 11/07/2007

This car is nothing but a joke when it comes to tires!!!! it should be called Toyota tire eater! I just got my 5th (that's right) 5th set of tires for this vehicle since I purchased it new in '07. I found out through other owners of the same type of vehicle that they're experiencing the same problem. . . I also have done some research and found out that this vehicle's tires are not spec. Out correctly! it doesn't matter what company you buy your tire from though it came with good year integrity's on it - 18k before they were gone! the tire size for this vehicle is only made by certain manufacturer's I finally said that this would be the last time I buy a Toyota! they don't care apparently and there excuse is they don't warranty tires! but they spec them out and put the crap on there cars! makes you think doesn't it! who payed off who here! I have michelin's new defender tire on the vehicle now a 90k tire. . . So I hope to get at least 30 to 35 k out of these! I have complained once before about this as well. . . . Thanks, for looking out for the next firestone and Ford tire issue. . . I guess this will be the next serious problem with tires! the garbage that we have to deal with as consumers over corporate greed and gov't pay off's! prove me and others wrong! do something about it! I will finally be starting a chat and site were others can view and comment of this issue!.
