general problems of the 2005 Toyota Matrix

These 3 things may be related to each other because they all are connected to the steering wheel. My car can be scheduled for an inspection regarding these safety problems. 1. The airbag warning light is sometimes on when I drive the car. I'm worried it won't work if I'm in a wreck. 2. The horn doesn't work when I press on the part of the steering wheel that should make it work. It does make a loud sound when I press the panic button on my key fob, but only when the car is turned off. I had to stick my head out of the window and yell at a driver who was getting close to hitting my car in a parking lot. I was parked, and they were backing out of their parking stall. They stopped inches away from my car. 3. The cruise control does not work in the car. I think by using this feature, and maintaining a steady speed, it reduces the chances of accidents. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? see answers #1, 2 and 3 above. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed? #1. No. A dealer told me it would cost me $100 to have them check the airbag light. #2. The horn was checked by an independent service center. #3. No. Has it been inspected? #1. This car has been serviced two different times for recalls for the airbag not working correctly. I wonder if the horn and cruise control wires were damaged, or not put back together correctly, when the recall work was being done, while owned by my sister-in-law. #2. No. #3. No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? #1. The warning lamp for the airbag started coming on around August 15, 2024. #2. No. It didn't work on February 11, 2023 - when I bought the car. #3. No. It didn't work on February 11, 2023.

O2 (oxygen) sensor is faulty even after replacing it several times.

Estava en el estap enla calle cherri en ukiah cal, parada esperando y mirando queno biniera carro para dar buelta a mano derecha ala caye state str , novenia carro en el primer carril para dar buelta a mano derecha, solte el freno para pizar el aselerador ,escuanto solte el freno el carro se aselero trate DE frenar pero los frenos no funcionaron y pege con el otro carro que estava en el otro carril tuve que darlebuelta al bolante asia mi mano derecha los frenos no funcionaron cayi en un hoyo y las yantas se atascaron, nunca salieron las bolsas DE hayre mi hijo y yo nos lastimamos del cueyo, mi carro quedo inservivle , mi hijo DE 16 a�os que hiya conmigo en el asiento del pasajero selastimo el cueyo y sufre DE dolor DE caveza, mequede sin carro, la aseguransa nome arresuelto nada asta este momento. Takata recall. Where to start. I received a letter in June 2015 about the recall. In December 2015 I filed a complaint with you because nothing was being done. Still nothing. In may 2016 my daughter received a letter also for the takata recall on her yaris with a letter saying not to let anyone ride in her front seat. Seriously? I was not told this. I could have killed someone or seriously injured them. (my daughter needs a rental btw because I doint want her driving her car till it is safe) when my dad found out he went to Toyota and guess what? suddenly they had the part for my car and ordered my daughters. They put it in yesterday. When I went to get my car I was informed that my passenger air bag light was on and that it needed a spiral assembly. For 476. 00. Right. They said it was not related or covered. I found a web page with sixty three people who had the exact same thing happen to them. Now both my airbag lights are on and my clock does not work. I dont have the money to fix this. It is causing me extreme stress as I take care of my elderly mom and my grand daughter. I believe it is related. God only knows how many others this hhas happened to. It can not be a coincidence. I feel another recall needs to be done as the did do one in canada but on adifferent model car. Cant remember. . . #nomoretoyotas.

Srs airbag light comes on and off intermittently. Clock also goes in and out. Was told the clock and the srs system are linked, and that when the light is on the airbag may not deploy. From doing research this is a very common problem in this car, and it is dangerous. Toyota couldn't diagnose problem, suggested replacing clock assembly.

On July 17, 2013, my car has made several incidents of engine shutting off either at intersectons, or while in motion. Good thing it does start back up but the check engine light was on. I took it to a local auto shop and it was diagnose as code to replace the thermostat and gasket coolant sensor. Two weeks later, engine shut-off again while driving several times. Return it back to the local auto shop and had them look at it again. They found no other problems. However, they informed me to take it to the Toyota dealership, as the ecm may be at fault. On July 31, 2013, took the car to the dealership for service and after several hours, they informed me it was a faulty battery. ! my battery is only three years old and I know its not the battery, after telling them to check the ecm. They wouldn't proceed until I buy a battery from them! on 8/30/13, took my car to another auto shop for the same problem and explained "the engine turns off while driving" issue again. They diagnose as carbon buildup and did a throttle body cleaning. Now its 9/6/13, and problem of engine stalling still persists!. One day, the engine shuts off three times while driving. Subsequently, Toyota has another second recall on Lexus and rav4 models this week. The ecm was recalled and replaced on my car on 8/31/11. Can the ecm be faulty again! or other parts causing the problem be undiagnosed in light of Toyota manufacture recalls. Symptoms: odometer light flickers and engine eventually shuts off.

We own a 2005 Toyota Matrix awd xr with a factory installed moon roof. It has been to the dealer 2 times for a rattle in the roof. 1st diagnosis: found roof support to be slightly loose due to lack of spot weld, bent lip of support down and applied foam to all points of contact. 2nd diagnosis: support braces are lacking insulation and sealer, causing them to be noisy over bumps. Vehicle is back from the 2nd repair and still has the rattle noise. We are concerned that the roof supports not being correct in the manufacturing process may make the car less structurally sound now or in the future as the insulation wears down. The service manager said this lack of insulation a problem they have been seeing in the cars.
