1 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2016

Takata recall - I received a letter several months ago informing me my Matrix was recalled for the air bag inflators. I was told I'd be contacted when the parts were available. After hearing nothing, I went to Toyota's website. It says the part should have been available in my area starting in Dec. 2015. I contacted my local dealer , & they told me they couldn't do the repair until the end of Aug. 2016. It will have been about a year & a half since I was informed of the recall - this is a totally unacceptable amount of time. Meanwhile, they suggest no one ride in the passenger seat until the repair is complete. Toyota is doing a terrible job with this whole thing.

2 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2015

Received recall notice from Toyota for the front passenger air bag inflator to be replaced. Attempted to make three appointments two months apart, and consistently told by the dealer (Toyota of santa barbara, CA) the parts are not avaialble.

3 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2015

I received a recall notice for passenger air bag inflators which may be defective when in contact with moisture. I received this notice 8/15/15 but the date of the recall on the website is 6/15/15 - a difference of 2 months! I called the Toyota recall hotline and was informed that there is no remedy for my location, even though I informed the representative that my car was purchased used and came from a beach area in southern California - a humid and moist area. I was informed that there is no estimated date when parts will be available in my location but to not allow passengers in the front seat. This is certainly not reasonable and very inconvenient. It is ridiculous to have a recall and not have prepared by ordering necessary parts. I am extremely dissatisfied with the "Toyota experience" and am more than peeved that I have to wait for who knows how long to fix the situation. Until then, what do I do? I use my car for work and frequently drive clients, friends and relatives to various locations.

5 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2015

We received a notice in June regarding a recall of our family vehicle (Toyota corolla Matrix 2005) for a defect related to the airbags. According to the statement, it has to do with the air bag inflators and, depending on circumstance, could rupture and cause metal fragments to pass through the air bag cushioned material resulting in injury or death. We were told that until a remedy because available in our location to have no one ride in the passenger front seat. That was three months ago. I just looked up the status and there is still no remedy available in our area. This is not a minor issue. It's caused undue stress and inconvenience throughout the entire summer. We have a baby on the way and are concerned that there is still no remedy in place, and we feel a solution has not been provided in a reasonable amount of time. We plan on calling Toyota during normal business hours to see if there is any way we can fix the issue ourselves and then submit for a reimbursement. Simply telling customers to have no one ride in the front passenger seat and not provide any additional information--such as when we can expect parts to become available--is poor customer service. Plus, if we have to address the issue ourselves, it will cause unnecessary strain on our already tight budget.

6 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

Takata recall: in June 2015 I received this notice of a safety recall due to the airbag inflators possibly being manufactured in such a way as to where they could retain moisture which could rupture and cause serious injury or death. I am advised to not let anyone sit in the passenger seat till it is fixed. It has been six months! this is way way beyond a reasonable amount of time to have this fixed. Horrible customer service Toyota! I am the care taker of my elderly parents and drive them on errands and to appts ect. I also care for my grand daughter. And carpool to school. This has been a hugh burden on me. For the record my air bag light is always on, and my clock and stereo keep resetting. The passenger airbag constantly blinks and the no seat belt sign blinks and beeps as if someone was sitting there with out a seatbelt. You are unprepared to fix this situation, and I find this unacceptable. Everytime I get in my car, I am worried they could deflate and injure or kill myself or my parents or granddaughter. Unfortunately I have no choice but to use my vehicle as it is the only one I have. You may contact me ASAP regarding a rental car until this is resolved. I am no longer putting my life at risk because you are unprepared ! I will be filing a complaint with the bbb as soon as I am done with this, and will contact an attorney if need be. Awaiting your prompt reply regards, linda.
