Air bag light has been on for awhile and now the horn is not working. When the horn stopped working I took it in for repair again. Toyota repair department says it's a failure of the spiral cable. I found there was a recall to replace the spiral cable in Toyota corolla Matrix vehicles but 2009 - 2010 year models, not my year of 2006. The documentation I found was very clear in stating it was going to do a recall not because of a manufacturing defect but because of a design issue. I think my vehicle should have been included in the recall because it probably has the same or similar design.

These 3 things may be related to each other because they all are connected to the steering wheel. My car can be scheduled for an inspection regarding these safety problems. 1. The airbag warning light is sometimes on when I drive the car. I'm worried it won't work if I'm in a wreck. 2. The horn doesn't work when I press on the part of the steering wheel that should make it work. It does make a loud sound when I press the panic button on my key fob, but only when the car is turned off. I had to stick my head out of the window and yell at a driver who was getting close to hitting my car in a parking lot. I was parked, and they were backing out of their parking stall. They stopped inches away from my car. 3. The cruise control does not work in the car. I think by using this feature, and maintaining a steady speed, it reduces the chances of accidents. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? see answers #1, 2 and 3 above. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed? #1. No. A dealer told me it would cost me $100 to have them check the airbag light. #2. The horn was checked by an independent service center. #3. No. Has it been inspected? #1. This car has been serviced two different times for recalls for the airbag not working correctly. I wonder if the horn and cruise control wires were damaged, or not put back together correctly, when the recall work was being done, while owned by my sister-in-law. #2. No. #3. No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? #1. The warning lamp for the airbag started coming on around August 15, 2024. #2. No. It didn't work on February 11, 2023 - when I bought the car. #3. No. It didn't work on February 11, 2023.

O2 (oxygen) sensor is faulty even after replacing it several times.

My daughter was driving as usual when she went to apply the brakes about 5 car lengths back and the vehicle accelerated uncontrollably despite braking. Her foot was not on the accelerator, she does not have floor mats that would cause anything to hit the accelerator. This has happened on 5-6 occasions which almost resulted in an accident. She barely got stopped mere inches away from the car in front of her despite braking earlier than normal because she encountered this once already during her trip. No check engine codes, the brakes are good, the car idles high. That is really it. This is a serious issue that seemingly cannot be diagnosed. After doing research to see what the problem may be, I have seen countless complaints of a similar nature. My daughters life is invaluable. This needs to be addressed.

While driving home my car started burning. I pulled over with smoke pouring out of the engine area and the car just stopped. I opened the hood and there were flames coming up from behind the engine. The fire grew until it engulfed the front of the car. The fire department came and put out the fire. The 2009 Matrix was totally destroyed. I noticed no prior warning signs or symptoms.

The problem is not specific to this car. The tire speed rating system in use today is long overdue for upgrading. Problem 1 is the confusion that exists between y and (y). Online tire dealers often blur the two categories. Problem 2 is the actual speed rating of (y) -- it is unknown but higher than 186. Problem 3 is that tires in the upper ranges are not separated. If you buy tires for a 2004 Ford gt, they must be good for up to 215 mph, but 270 mph is not necessary. There are many tires that are good for 215 but not 270 mph. The current system does not tell consumers which tire is safe! I propose a new metric-based system. The following speed ratings would assigned to each tire: speed rating 15 (150 km/h) 20 (200 km/h) 25 (250 km/h) 30 (300 km/h) 35 (350 km/h) 40 (400 km/h) 45 (450 km/h) 50 (500 km/h).

I bought brand new toyoto 2007 Matrix in 2007 in USA. Why until now it not give me recall problem fix??? in 2019, Toyota know my phone number and my car 3 months it called me wait for recall for 2 month more. But now it not give me recall successfully.

I have been on Toyota recall list for two years and every time I get another card about recall , I call dealership and they put me on a wait list . As part is not available or supply and demand . Unacceptable and now it seems there is also a loud squealing noise and the gas pedal will rev and accelerate and jerk forward on its on while I just barely got foot of brake . And then it will accelerate until I put foot on gas and it will jerk forward trying to accerlelerate and then I get control.

The glass sunroof on my vehicle shattered. The is no evidence of impact inside or outside. I had not used the car for about a week.

Takata recall not addressed by the manufacturer in a timely manner. Recall number: 08v162 from 2008, recall status is incomplete. Leading to power windows completely immovable. Manufacturer failed to remedy these recalls in a timely manner.

My Toyota corolla Matrix 2006 has a ecm under recall. When I bought this car from previous owner , I did not know that car was serviced under recall and ecm was replaced in January of 2011. In October of 2013, car has 54k miles and check engine light (p2716) is on. The transmission diagnostic was done and it shows that car has malfunctioning ecm. Transmission was rebuilt but not by Toyota dealer. Toyota dealer told me that my car has replaced ecm and doesn't qualify for any other ecm replacement. Now the car has 106k and still the same problem p2716 and ecm is malfunctioning.

"takata recall" I'm not making a complaint because they exploded, yet. . . Although, I have been notified that they could explode, so essentially, this makes my vehicle inoperable since notification and makes me ineligible to work using my vehicle. Furthermore, according to the manufacturers notes: it is suggested that I file a complaint with the NHTSA. On the morning of 12/16/2016, while in the parking garage where my wife works, she stopped to back into a parking spot and the car suddenly accelerated forward and would not respond to vigorous braking nor the emergency brake. The car hit a concrete wall, the air bag deployed, and she was injured (numerous fractures to date). We have seen the words �brake override� and �sudden unintended acceleration� in cases against Toyota. There were no floor mats in the car. We bought this car in the first week of oct 2016, so it was only approx 75 days in our possession. The dealership could never get us in contact with the previous owner (about unrelated questions) and never mentioned any possible issue with the car. They gave me a carfax, but there was no mention of the sua issue. We feel Toyota or someone should be responsible for this happening. Not only is there physical damage to the person, but also mental damage about driving any car. We believe the electronics are to blame for this happening. What are our options? we cannot find anyone to take the case. Please advise, thanks.

Takata recall. Where to start. I received a letter in June 2015 about the recall. In December 2015 I filed a complaint with you because nothing was being done. Still nothing. In may 2016 my daughter received a letter also for the takata recall on her yaris with a letter saying not to let anyone ride in her front seat. Seriously? I was not told this. I could have killed someone or seriously injured them. (my daughter needs a rental btw because I doint want her driving her car till it is safe) when my dad found out he went to Toyota and guess what? suddenly they had the part for my car and ordered my daughters. They put it in yesterday. When I went to get my car I was informed that my passenger air bag light was on and that it needed a spiral assembly. For 476. 00. Right. They said it was not related or covered. I found a web page with sixty three people who had the exact same thing happen to them. Now both my airbag lights are on and my clock does not work. I dont have the money to fix this. It is causing me extreme stress as I take care of my elderly mom and my grand daughter. I believe it is related. God only knows how many others this hhas happened to. It can not be a coincidence. I feel another recall needs to be done as the did do one in canada but on adifferent model car. Cant remember. . . #nomoretoyotas.

Takata recall Toyota send me a safety recall notice (interim notice) re front passenger airbag initiator module. They had the audacity to say that "until the remedy becomes available in your location, we recommend that you do not operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat"!!! that is unacceptable, especially since we live in an area that receives lots of humidity (Toyota says they are prioritizing part replacements in geographic locations that are subject to consistently high absolute humidity, but they do not list which areas they think this applies to. Where we live certainly meets the high moisture criteria). Our complaint is that Toyota should replace the parts now!!), please insist they rectify their defective airbags now for our car in this high-humidity locale. On another note, this Toyota vehicle has been nothing but trouble: water pump replaced not long after purchase (when car was basically still brand new), hub caps that fall off constantly, and most frustrating of all, a vibration/noise from the front end that the dealer refused to fix. The dealer misdiagnosed the noise/vibration by replacing the wrong front wheel bearing. When we told them the noise persisted, the Toyota dealer said the warranty was over & would not fix their previous error!! now Toyota unscrupulously sends an interim notice of a defect that could kill a passenger in our car. As before, please make Toyota fix the airbag now so we can use the car safely now!.

Tow on right rearend is off (-0. 01). Only get 20000 out of any set of tires installed and garage tells me it is due to tow being off.

The engine is stalling. I noticed this at least a month ago. It has happened at least 5 or 6 times in the last month. It first occurred when I started the vehicle in the parking lot at school. I drove maybe 5 or 6 feet less than 10 mph then the engine shut off in the middle of a turn. I had to put the car in park and restart the engine in the middle of driving. It did restart, but it jerked once or twice and kept going. The next day, I was able to start car and drive a little further, maybe a mile at about 30 mph. When I entered an entrance ramp on the freeway, the vehicle stalled in the middle of acceleration. I had to veer to the shoulder. I put the car in park,then restarted the engine. I was able to drive a few miles. Then, I had to slow down to exit on a ramp when it stalled again. I exited freeway. The vehicle completely stopped in the middle of the road. I pulled into a parking lot to compose myself because the cars behind me were honking and drivers upset that vehicle stalled without notice. The vehicle did cut off at a higher speed as well. I was driving on the freeway at about 50 mph when it turned off, but immediately turned back on within seconds. I was very concerned for safety with kids in the car.

My daughter said the steering totally locked while being driven. Her & her boyfriend could not get the steering wheel to turn at all. They were not speeding because it was on wet roads. They both suffered mild concussions & my daughter has a severe neck sprain. After seeing the car, it went off the road & rolled 2 or 3 times it's totaled, I'm surprised they're not in icu! I did some research & almost 1000 Matrix's have had this happen!! I don't know why there isn't a recall. It seems Toyota isn't all that safe & doesn't care about it's customers at all.

Last may 5 melody Toyota san bruno told me they have to do a recall on the front passenger airbag inflator. And it was fine for 3 months. Then on Aug. 9 when I was taking my cousin to the airport (sfo) the srs warning light just came on all the way straight home. And I drove back to melody Toyota last Tuesday since they told me they can't attend to me last Monday because technician shortage. After they made the diagnosis on my car they said there's a short circuit on my airbag spiral cable clock spring w/c is located inside the steering wheel. They said if this spiral cable is defective all the airbags in my car is disabled and will not deploy if I hit another car or a tree w/c is really life threatening. My question is why do I have to pay $550. 00 to get that spiral cable replaced. And on the other hand my car doesn't have any problem not until when they replace that front passenger airbag inflator last may 5. They even ask me if I had an accident recently. I think they should know that since they've been doing all the services on my car for 6 years. Or is there any recall on this spiral cable? I hope you give me an answer to this question. My passenger window stopped working ( my window is half way open) while driving in 108 degrees weather ( I live in yuma az. . . The hottest city in the united states). The next day I went to Toyota dealer in yuma az and they told me to come back the next day because they didnt have a technician available, it was around 3:00 pm. The next day I stopped by right after work 3:00pm (weather 108 degrees). Everything is going fine, I dropped off the vehicle and the service representative tells me that he doesnt know how long its going to take. 3:45pm he called and advised my car will be ready before 5:30pm, I was happy. At 4:00pm he called again and tells me they dont have the part to fix my car, I was mad. At 5:00pm I went back to Toyota dealer to pick up my car and asked the service representative to please advise the technician close up the window up because of the extreme hot weather, the representative said it wasnt possible. So I get in my car and I started it and I noticed my car was shaking (really bad), something it wasnt doing before. I put it on drive but it started shaking even more so I called the service representative and told him about it, he said to come back. The technician checked it and they said it was something about the battery and the computer being disconnected and needed a reset, I really dont know but why they were going to let me drive off with my car like that? its unsafe. After I waited another hour I was finally out of there and they told me to come back again the next day. So today July 17 at 11:00am the service representative called and told me the part to fix my car wasnt in and it wasnt doing to be in until Monday. . . I am very upset with the dealership service, and they are not resolving the problem, im concern about my safety due to the extreme heat (sand storms) and vehicle theft.

Exterior door handles all broke off making it difficult to enter car, which makes it difficult to open door to enter car or open door to remove children.

We bought the car used in GA August 2012, 3 months later the engine would come on but electrics wouldnt, wouldnt move out of park. The dealer couldnt re create the problem to find out what was wrong so we delt with it for months until the power shut off on the hwy. It scared us. It quickly shut back on thank god but we been in touch with corporate and the dealership without any luck or help on fixing it. Finally July they said it was the ecm and tried to charge us to fix it. 3 weeks later the stalling continued. We were sent here by a friend and just now 2 years later find out about the recall. We also found out the same dealership where we took to fix it that couldnt identify the problem was the same one that fixed it initially for the recall. Now corporate and the dealership is denying that they fixed the ecm in July though I have an invoice stating so. Also, denying there was ever a recall. Its dangerous and terrifying to drive not knowing when and where the engine will stall. It was fixed 2012 a few months before we bought it, fixed again this passed July supposedly but is still stalling so its a reoccuring problem. Hopfully the proper procedure is followed to ensure the safety of my family and who ever the next owner will be.

When I roll down my window on the drivers side, there is always a loud *chunk* sound where a screw that is too long in the door is scraping up against the window as it rolls down, every time. If you roll down the window while the door is in the open position, you can not close your door because the glass is catching on the screw and putting huge gashes in the window. I am afraid it will one day decide to shatter all over me or my mother who sometimes borrows my car.

Srs airbag light comes on and off intermittently. Clock also goes in and out. Was told the clock and the srs system are linked, and that when the light is on the airbag may not deploy. From doing research this is a very common problem in this car, and it is dangerous. Toyota couldn't diagnose problem, suggested replacing clock assembly.

The front windshield wipers don't work correctly. Sometimes they remain on in high speed, sometimes slow. Sometimes they just stop. We have to take the fuse out to drive on clear days, as they will just come on when they feel like it. Also, the front washer fluid no longer works. In addition to those issues, the heat shield dropped while we were getting gas one day and rattles so loud it's unbearable. I had to wire it up.

Clock randomly works. Seems to be in all Toyota Matrix in the mid 2000s. But of course Toyota wants a huge price for a replacement for their faulty soldering job.

During daylight on the above date, as I made a turn from small parking lot into a parking space, car suddenly accelerated and crashed into concrete building. As it was accelerating, that split second, I checked my foot to make sure it was on the brake, and not gas. I pressed hard on it, to no avail. It did not respond. It was totaled by insurance company. I had minor injuries: bruised left chest and shoulder. Following day, a mild stiff neck. All of physical ailments gone, except mild sore neck, in 3 days. Note; I put speed at approximate speed in parking lot before acceleration occurred.

On July 17, 2013, my car has made several incidents of engine shutting off either at intersectons, or while in motion. Good thing it does start back up but the check engine light was on. I took it to a local auto shop and it was diagnose as code to replace the thermostat and gasket coolant sensor. Two weeks later, engine shut-off again while driving several times. Return it back to the local auto shop and had them look at it again. They found no other problems. However, they informed me to take it to the Toyota dealership, as the ecm may be at fault. On July 31, 2013, took the car to the dealership for service and after several hours, they informed me it was a faulty battery. ! my battery is only three years old and I know its not the battery, after telling them to check the ecm. They wouldn't proceed until I buy a battery from them! on 8/30/13, took my car to another auto shop for the same problem and explained "the engine turns off while driving" issue again. They diagnose as carbon buildup and did a throttle body cleaning. Now its 9/6/13, and problem of engine stalling still persists!. One day, the engine shuts off three times while driving. Subsequently, Toyota has another second recall on Lexus and rav4 models this week. The ecm was recalled and replaced on my car on 8/31/11. Can the ecm be faulty again! or other parts causing the problem be undiagnosed in light of Toyota manufacture recalls. Symptoms: odometer light flickers and engine eventually shuts off.

Safety recall notice (to fix srs and ecm) was received from Toyota in the second week of February, 2013. The vehicle was taken to the local Toyota dealer (lee's Toyota, 139-65, queens blvd, jamaica, NY, 11435) on 04/03/2013, to have fixed the problem. Since the correct parts were not available at the servicing center, the representative has informed me that, they will place an order for the parts and will inform me once the parts are available at the service center (per the service center the wait period for the parts is about couple weeks). Today, 04-30-2013, I called the service center to check the status of the parts. The service center has informed that, they did not receive the parts and not sure and have no idea when they will receive them as Toyota is taking too much time to produce them. I request that this matter may please be examined and see how soon the parts will be available (I have a fear that my car may develop new or other related problems as I am using it with ecm and srs problems and with the air bag malfunction light is on the dash board). I went to the Toyota dealer to have my check engine light check and found out the I need to replace my catalyst converter and ecu replace. Dealer says that I need to pay $3000 plus tax. The reason why I need to replace the catalytic converter and the electronic control module because they have a new module. I own my car since 2003. This is Toyota's fault, I should be inform when a new module comes out in the market and I should not have to pay for that. This is a safety hazzard. If I don't get it fix, my car will not start and I am not able to renew my tab because of the check engine lights.

It's been almost a year since the first time the cil turned on. It stays on for a couple days then stays off for like a month. It has been doing that since 2012. I had my check engine light checked by a tech and he said that he has seen the p0770 code many times for the Matrix and corolla. . Read more...
