While making a sharp manuever felt a 'pop' under the driver's seat. Seat then had a slight rocking movement, as if lose from the floor (e. G. A small amount of 'play' where there should be nothing but a solid connection). . When due for inspection the vehicle was failed due to va requirements. Owner (self) determined the 'play' was between the seat proper and the sliding bracket to which it is attached. He then the partially removed plastic cover from the drivers side of the seat and tightened a large-headed screw (about 1/2 inch) with a torx head using the appropriate bit mounted in a screw-driver handle. The screw got to nearly the point of being 'tight' when it abruptly became loose again as if it was 'stripped'. It was then tightened less firmly and the vehicle was re-inspected and passed. About 2 weeks later the 'pop' sensation reoccurred and the 'play' returned. On 7/19/2015 the service manager on duty told me there was no service bulletin about seats for the 2010 Matrix, though he seemed to imply there was for some other Toyota vehicles.

I have a 2007 Matrix . The drivers seat keeps lowering on its own. I crank it up 8 cranks. After 2 days of driving, it lowers 2 cranks. If I let it go, it will lower all the way down. The dealer replaced the seat lifter but that didn't help. The seat is lowering because the crank(lever) that raises and lowers the seat rubs against the seat cushion. After a short while (1 or 2 days of driving) it lowers because my weight on the cushion pushes the crank(lever) down. I am 195lbs. The dealer said there is nothing they can do. I have to place a wooden dowel under the crank(lever) to keep it from lowering.
The car seats have a white lint and balling front and back. The problem is only getting worse. The material looks like it is wearing out.
