The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Prius. The contact stated that while driving various speeds, the vehicle would independently shift from drive into neutral. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be replicated. The technician informed the contact that replacing the shifter may rectify the failure but was unable to guarantee it would be a permanent fix. The manufacturer was notified of the failure.
