One problem related to air conditioner has been reported for the 2013 Toyota Prius. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Air conditioning stopped working while driving on 7/4/2015. We were in eastern washington at the time in 100 degree temperature. We took it to the dealer, Toyota of seattle, on 7/8/2015. On hearing our concern, the service technician suggested it was probably road damage. And, on inspection, it was determined to be road damage which is not covered by warranty. If they suspected before actual inspection, I would contend that it is a design flaw. In order to increase the mpg, they omitted standard engine protection equipment on the undercarriage. People in hot climates who have health conditions depend on air conditioning. We fear there may be other design faults that will emerge because Toyota will do whatever is necessary to maximize mileage.
