2 Automatic Transmission Floor Shift problem of the 2009 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 03/01/2010

The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Prius. The contact was driving approximately 2 mph into a parking space with pressure applied to the brake pedal. The vehicle slowed down, followed by an unexpected acceleration. The vehicle crashed into a handicap parking pole. There were no injuries. 3 Automatic Transmission Floor Shift problem of the 2009 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 10/28/2009

The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Prius. While driving approximately 55 mph on normal road conditions. The cruise control selector was activated. The driver's hand slightly hit the gear shifter in which the shifter moved out of gear. The contact had concern of the safety risk regarding the poor manufacturer design. Immediately, the gear shifter was moved into the proper gear. The failure mileage was 7,000. The current mileage was 8,000.

4 Automatic Transmission Floor Shift problem of the 2007 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 02/02/2008

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Prius. While driving 10 mph the electronic gear shift automatically shifts into neutral gear and then into reverse and he had shift into drive. He stated that occasionally he did not notice that the gear shifted into reverse until he was backing into another vehicle. The dealer made two attempts to duplicate the failure; however, the failure could not be duplicated since the failure occurred intermittently. The failure mileage was not available. Failure Date: 06/01/2004

The contact owns a 2003 Toyota Prius. The contact stated his vehicle had been to the dealer approximately thirty times for various safety failures. The contact had experienced the vehicle stalling without warning while traveling uphill at speeds of 25 mph, the instrument panel warning lights remained illuminated, the vehicle would not engage from battery to gasoline power when warranted, and the contact intermittently was unable to move the gear shift selector into the reverse position. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where he advised that there may be engine oil in the throttle causing the stalling issues. The contact was awaiting a hybrid expert to further inspect the vehicle.
