1 Front Seat Belt problem of the 2012 Toyota Prius

2012 Toyota Prius. Consumer writes in regards to malfunction of vehicle seat belt and airbags. The consumer's wife was involved in an accident on September 8, 2012. The vehicle received severe front-end damage to the extent of almost $12,000. When the vehicle was stuck by an on-coming vehicle, her seat belt did not prevent her from hitting her chest on the steering wheel nor did the air bag deploy in time. She received severe bruising, severe pain and discomfort, and stress. Also, the lower dash knee air bag failed to deploy in time to prevent severe bruising to his wife's knees. Toyota sent the consumer a letter stating there was no evidence of any manufacturing defect with the air bags or seat belt.

2 Front Seat Belt problem of the 2008 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 02/26/2012

S10 appropriate handling- letter to the secretary from re expressing concerns regarding Toyota safety problems note: unable to view flash drive the consumer stated he was sitting at a red light when a 1997 Chevrolet tahoe rear ended him. The Chevrolet destroyed the rear of the vehicle, slamming the right front of the vehicle into the shoulder concrete wall, pitching the vehicle up into the air on its right front roof and fender, sliding down 10-15 feet landing on its right side, coming to a stop between 70 to 80 feet from the stop line where he was hit. None of the air bags deployed and the seat belt tensioner did not keep his head from the hitting the roof. The consumer had a deep laceration on the top of his head, and a herinated disc in his neck.

3 Front Seat Belt problem of the 2006 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 01/28/2008

The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Prius. The seat belt latch would not connect and secure the contact in the vehicle. He made numerous attempts to fasten the seat belt over the course of two days, but the seat belt failed to function properly. All of the other seat belts in the vehicle are operating normally. The dealer will diagnose the failure on February 1, 2008. The failure mileage was 40,100 and current mileage was 40,200.

4 Front Seat Belt problem of the 2002 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 03/01/2007

2002 Prius seat belt problems making it unsafe to drive. Customer states the seat belt had torn or been cut almost all the way through. Consumer states it happened again to the replacement seat belt. The dealer informed the consumer that the second incident was probably due to user error or because their dog chewed on the seat belt. Toyota refused to reimburse the consumer a second time.

5 Front Seat Belt problem of the 2004 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 12/28/2004

While traveling 25 mph consumer's vehicle proceeded to strike another vehicle . Upon impact, air bags did not deploy. Also, driver's side seat belt tightened so much that consumer could not breath. After finally releasing the seat belt consumer could breath.
