I am writing to report a suspected case of odometer fraud involving a vehicle currently listed for sale at stacey’s auto sales, located at [xxx] . Vehicle details: 2009 Toyota Rav4 sport VIN: [xxx] asking price: $8,995 current listed mileage: 108,540 I obtained an nmvtis vehicle history report which shows this vehicle was listed at a dealer (revolutionary auto) in December 2020 with 150,439 miles on the odometer. The vehicle is currently being sold with only 108,540 miles — a discrepancy of approximately 42,000 miles over five years. The current utah title lists odometer reading as ‘exempt,’ which may have been used to obscure this discrepancy. I am not the buyer or seller of this vehicle. I am a private citizen who identified this discrepancy while researching the vehicle prior to a potential purchase. I am submitting this report in the interest of protecting other consumers. I have the nmvtis report available as supporting documentation upon request. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I was hit with a rock right between my eyes while driving, took Toyota into shop they were surprised it had not fell in on my lap. Window frame has corroded, glass shop said the manufacturer did not paint were the seals meet around the window and has allowed moisture in and corroded the frame. I have 160,000 miles on a Toyota that the window could fail anytime.
My rear passenger suspension has multiple part damage. Rear shock bracket failure and other parts.
Auto burning excessive oil and coolant box stays full to top car is stationary.
Whining noise from rear and continues to get loud while driven. Was told it may be my rear differential that was identified by Toyota in 2013.
2009 Toyota rav 4, 2. 5l v4, 4wd. A couple of weeks ago, I was driving like normal, and when I pressed the gas, the car didn't move. I turned it off and started it up again and put my foot on the gas pedal and it moved and then I hit the brake and it didn't move when I hit the gas. The rpm increases but the car does not move forward or in reverse. The car starts just fine and it will move for about 30 seconds - basically before it's warmed up. Then after 30 seconds, if I hit the gas, regardless of putting it in reverse, drive, it won't budge. This is a big safety concern, as this happened while I was driving and there were several cars behind me. I immediately turned on my hazard lights.
Susp recal 13v-383, my veh has temp rear susp arms, dealer not willing to perfom permanent repair and replace caution stickers still on rear tierod/cntrl arms, known safety issue please hel my # 239-298-2508 noticed upon inspection no incident yet.
While driving on any type if road, freeway, country or city the drivers sun visor keeps falling down to its lowest position blocking the drivers view of the roadway and pedestrians. The visor can not be positioned in an intermediate position to block sun. The visor can not be positioned to stay fully up.

I no longer own this vehicle, it was traded in in 2014 to west herr Toyota 4141 southwestern blvd, orchard park, NY 14127, how do I stop recall notices for this vehicle?.
My Rav4 has rust all over where the drivers seat as well as the passenger seats are attached to the car and seems to be so fragile that with any small impact the seat will detached from car and cause a tragic accident. The rust appeared almost immediately after it was purchased and was advised by dealership that there was nothing they can do about it . If this issue is not fixed in the future it can cause injuries or even death.
Was driving, sudden lost p/s, all lights on dash came on, determined fuse ecu-ig1, blown, determined, when rear view mirror disconn. The fuse doesn't blow. TSB:ig1 relay needs 2b updated $1,000+ vehicle was in motion on a county street.
While my wife was driving on the highway at 60 mph the engine lost power. Moving to the right lane to pull over, flames began coming out of the top of the hood, hitting the windshield. She tried stopping but brake pedal went to the floor, requiring her to put the car in park and slide on grass. She jumped out of the vehicle and within 8 minutes the car was completely destroyed.
Driving alone in heavy traffic, on a major road. About 6 pm. Warning light appeared followed immediately by whole dashboard that lit up. No previous warning. Vehicle lost complete power. I made split-second decision to make a quick right turn into small shopping center but only managed, without power, to maneuver vehicle on a slant up the incline. Emergency flashers stopped working shortly thereafter, so car not easily visible to others. No heat in car due to lost power and it was a bitter cold and windy night. Had to be towed to dealer at cost of $190 (insurance reimbursed me only $25). Cost of replacement parts plus labor at dealer was $1499. 87. I could have been plowed into from behind by another driver. I was vulnerable with no power to car. An online search reveals Toyota has many irate customers re water pumps failing on their rav 4s from various years--not just the year of my model. Yet Toyota sent no recall notice re this dangerous flaw in their vehicles. And they maintain that since the warranty expired, they are under no obligation to cover my costs. They have offered only $522 47 to me. An expired warranty is not relevant. This is a safety issue. Suppose I had been on an interstate highway with high speeds?.
Malfuntion with water pump and the emergency flashers stopped working although the battery was in good condition.
The driver's side sun visor flops down and won't stay up. This results in impaired vision and can startle a driver into losing control of the vehicle.
My 2009 rav 4 has a floor mat that creeps forward and gets caught under the accelerator pedal. It took some time for it to start doing this, but now I can't keep it in place, it has no hooks. The rav is not on the recall list from Toyota for this particular problem, but it has it. It happens every day, if I put it back in position and drive the car by the time I get home it's under the accelerator pedal.
Since this car was bought on sept 18, 2009 it has had a shimmy problem. Dealer could never find anything wrong but would do an alignment and tire rotation when he took it in for an oil change at 19,265 mi on Nov 8, 2011, they told my father he needed tires and that a lug nut was missing. He took it down the block to a tire shop who stated the car was unsafe to drive without at least 2 new tires and an alignment. Then on may 20, 2012 replaced the other 2 tires at 23,192 mi. He has had problems with the lug nuts replacing 3 different ones now. The last lug nut that was missing the lug stud was broken also. When I took it to the dealer to be to have 2 of the recalls fixed and the lug stud replaced on Nov 30, 2012 they even said these Rav4's have been having these issues. We just received a fifth recall notice, a second recall on the suspension. Corporate does not fill any of the above issues are related nor their responsibilty, that we need to go to the original tire manufacture regarding the tire issue, they also stated his warranty expired in sept 2012. My father has the 7yr-70,000 mile platinium warranty, (the last dealership I took it to also stated the warranty had expired on 9/12/2012). Toyota corp gave me the ph no for extra care extended warranty regarding the lack of coverage and said to was possible if we actually had the extended warranty that they could do something for us. When I spoke with them they stated the warranty was in the national system and had no reason as to why they'd question that. When I explained the continual problems he said corp needs to address. Everyone points the finger at others. The car currently has 26,900 mi. My father has been very ill the past 1 1/2 years and is unable to deal with these issues. My father hates this car, the dealership in vacaville purchased from & he does not feel safe driving this vehicle.
