17 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2024

I received a notice in the mail from Toyota with Toyota recall # 23ta15 or NHTSA recall # 23v-865. The notice clearly states that they will notify consumers when the remedy is available. However, it also states that if your vehicle's supplemental restraint (srs) warning light is illuminated, then your vehicle may be experiencing symptoms related to this safety call. Earlier this morning, 7/16/24, my car did show the srs warning and told me to contact my dealership. I have tried discussing this issue with my local Toyota dealership located in north austin TX. They have stated that the car is in fact not safe to keep driving, and the parts to fix the vehicle may take as long as 3 months to 6 months to come in. They are refusing to put me in a rental car until the vehicle can be fixed unless I agree to pay out of pocket up to $12 per day over the course of 3-6 months. I am already paying $450. 00 a month for a vehicle that is unsafe to drive, but am being forced to pay additional out of pocket expenses that I am unable to afford in order to keep myself and my family safe. This is unreasonable considering that the recall is not the consumers fault. I hope photos of the srs warning displaying on my car and proof of the Toyota dealership informing me that the vehicle is not safe to continue driving until the car is fixed.

19 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/28/2024

On 5/28/24 the vehicle air bag lights and front passenger seat light was flashing and an alarm continuously went off with a message to visit a dealer for service. On 5/29/24 the vehicle was brought in for inspection to a Toyota dealer. I was told an electrical wiring needed to be replaced. Dealership did that but it did not correct the issue. Codes were not resetting. They are now saying it is a wiring/electrical issue under passenger seat and saying they have been communicating with Toyota. We do not have a Toyota extended warranty but vehicle has 32k miles and are told by dealership Toyota should be covering. I am submitting this to have this on record as we have warning lights, messages, etc. Occurring which is a safety issue under NHTSA. Dealership keeps increasing charges for parts and labor and states our 3rd party warranty may or may not cover charges. They are trying to determine the issue and if Toyota will cover and resolve.

28 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2024

It's been a year that this situation is still under a recall and there is no remedy. Keep receiving constant notices and every time I call its something new and yet they still don't have a remedy. I was told last year not to have anyone sit in my passenger seat until a remedy is found. I feel unsafe and have been financing my Toyota Rav4 since August 2020. My recent call they wont have a remedy June 2025 which I told believe being when I called last year I was told that the remedy would be September 2024. So basically they are telling me that if I were in an accident that the airbags will not go off is someone is sitting in my passengers seat being that what needs to be fixed is the airbag sensor. To be told that I shouldnt have anyone in my passenger seat until this is fixed is insane.

29 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2023

Got t-boned going through a traffic light and was hit at approximately 15-20mph on my driver side. Most of the damage occurred to the front driver door and wheel. Airbags did not deploy, unsure if they should have? car was totaled and is in the hands of progressive there has been a recall on airbags for my car, but when looking up the VIN it does not say that my car is involved. Car after accident gave warning that there was an issue with the collision system. Car before accident was just inspected the day before the accident just am not sure if airbags should have deployed.

The manufacturer issued a recall for the air bag deployment system potentially not registering a passenger, thus not deploying, in December 2023. As of April 2025, there is still no remedy to fix this issue, which is a safety concern.

32 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2023

A safety recall 23ta15 had been issued on Dec 20,2023. Nhtsa recall 23v865 Toyota has acknowledged that a defect in the occupant classification system (OCS) may result in the passenger airbag failing to deploy in the event of a crash. This directly compromises a core safety feature I relied on when choosing this vehicle. Despite the recall being announced months ago, I was recently informed by Toyota customer service that no remedy is currently available and that no rental or loaner program is being offered in the meantime. This situation places me in an unacceptable position: I either drive a vehicle that is not fully safe or absorb the personal financial burden of securing alternative transportation—neither of which is a fair expectation of a customer who acted in good faith. I am requesting the following: 1. A clear timeline for when the necessary repair or replacement parts will become available. 2. Immediate access to a safe and comparable loaner or rental vehicle until the recall is fully resolved. 3. Written confirmation that Toyota acknowledges the safety risk and is currently offering no interim solution.

33 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2023

I received recall notice December 2023 for defect in front passenger seat airbag that could cause the airbag to fail to deploy in the event of a crash. I have contacted the dealer several times and have been told each time that there is no remedy (yet). It has been two years and the risk to passengers in my vehicle has not been remedied. Fortunately, I have not had any collisions but the danger and safety concerns remain, and there has been no action by Toyota on this serious recall notice the recall notice stills says “no remedy” and it has not been updated in the past year. This is a serious, potentially dangerous and life-threatening defect, a recall has been issued, and yet nothing has been done to remedy the defect for two years. What remedies are available to me as a customer? will action be taken on this complaint? please let me know when I can expect a response.

35 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2023

I demand that the airbags in my car be fixed immediately. It has been a year since I paid for them and they are still not working. This is a serious safety issue, and I cannot afford to wait any longer.
