Electrical System problem #1

The Toyota app has stopped updating vehicle data and there’s information missing entirely. The satellite symbol has a line through it on the media screen as well. When I try to opt out on the app, I get an unexpected error and to try again. It seems as though the dcm in my car has stopped communicating with Toyota’s servers.

Electrical System problem #2

There is a parasitic drain on my battery coming from the ecm and electrical system causing it to drain my 12v battery.

This 2025 Rav4 hybrid xle premium is in permanent shape of inoperable due to continues electrical system that drains the 12v battery. Anytime I want to drive the car I have to charge the 12v battery for 3-4 hours before I can attempt to drive the car. This is all the time problems that start about 2 weeks into the purchase of the vehicle.

On two separate occasions, my car has shaken violently and stopped both times while idling one in my driveway one at a stoplight and then an alert that says engine stopped steering power low came on.

The contact owns a 2025 Toyota Rav4. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 25v595000 (electrical system); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. An unknown dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. The VIN was not available.

Overview of complaint: critical safety defect I am filing this formal complaint directly with Toyota motor corporation regarding a vehicle that, due to an apparent critical manufacturing defect, failed dangerously and repeatedly within days of purchase. This failure represents a lapse in Toyota's quality control and a serious threat to consumer safety. The vehicle, purchased new or recently, on [xxx], exhibited critical operational defects less than three days after leaving the dealership. This vehicle is demonstrably defective and unsafe, having compromised my life during a near-fatal failure on a major interstate. As the manufacturer, Toyota is ultimately responsible for the quality and safety of the product delivered to consumers. Ii. Factual timeline of critical defects and safety incidents the vehicle exhibited multiple critical failures less than 77 miles and three days after purchase, severely compromising my safety and confidence in the quality of the Toyota product: •immediate operational failures: the vehicle began experiencing multiple mechanical failures shortly after purchase. •near-fatal highway stall: the most severe incident involved the vehicle suddenly failing and stalling while traveling on a major interstate. This catastrophic failure is indicative of a serious underlying manufacturing or component defect and severely endangered my life and the lives of others. While waiting in a drive-thru with “hold” feature enabled, car vibrated abnormally and shut off by itself. When I attempted to restart the vehicle, I received an error message “engine stopped. Steering power low” and another screen also appeared that said, “not ready to drive. Press brake and push engine start switch. ” I followed those instructions several times and the car wouldn’t start. Eventually had to put in neutral to get out of drive-thru. Once out of drive-thru, I once again attempted to restart the car, but this time it worked. Should mention it was raining pretty heavily outside when this happened.

The contact owns a 2025 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the interior digital rearview mirror image was distorted, hazy and foggy. The contact stated that the rearview mirror image was distorted while operating the vehicle at night, but the image was clear while operating the vehicle during the day time. The contact had cleaned the rear window and the rearview mirror camera lens, but the failure persisted, which the contact considered a visibility hazard for the driver. The local dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that no failure was found, and the rearview mirror camera was operating as designed. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 30.

Electrical System problem #9

Component: main engine wiring harness. Cause: rodent caused damage: the rodent severely damaged this component and made the vehicle inoperable. Fix: required the replacement of this component. Insurance covered the 8,500 repair bill (minus deductible). A check engine light appeared eventually.

Electrical System problem #10

The contact’s sister owns a 2025 Toyota Rav4. The owner received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 25v595000 (electrical system); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The instrument panel intermittently went black. The failure became persistent over time. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the part was not yet available for the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that the part was not yet available. The manufacturer referred the owner to the dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.

Electrical System problem #11

The contact owns a 2025 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated that upon leaving the keys in the ignition overnight, the battery was drained. The contact stated that the jumper cables were in a compartment located inside the trunk. The contact stated that due to the battery failure, the contact was unable to unlock the vehicle. In addition, there was no keyhole for the trunk of the vehicle. The contact entered the trunk through the inside of the vehicle; however, the compartment where the jumper cables were located had failed to open due to the battery failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline to file a complaint. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 5,500.

Electrical System problem #12

The front camera fails which does not allow for the cruise control to operate. The speed odometer does not specify the correct speed when driving the car. The feature of telling you how fast you are supposed to go does not operate correctly specifying the wrong speed you are supposed to go. The tires have already been replaced because the metal was coming out of the tires causing the car to not operate correctly there was wobbling in the tires causing the car to feel like the tires were about to come off the tires. The transmission not shifting properly in eco mode.

Electrical System problem #13

Check engine light came on as well as hybrid malfunction message. While on the highway could not accel or go past 60 mph, gas pedal would then not work and speed went down, I pulled car over to breakdown lane and car abruptly stopped and would not move. Many warnings flashed and car needed to be towed. Temperature rose and ignition messages came up, steering wheel locked and car was not drivable.
