The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, the contact attempted to accelerate and the vehicle suddenly accelerated independently without warning. The contact engaged the brakes but failed to stop the vehicle. Then the contact applied the emergency brake which caused the vehicle to spin out of control. The vehicle came to a stop without crashing. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who decided to send an inspector to the independent mechanic to inspect the vehicle. The inspector was unable to diagnose the failure. 2009 Toyota scion. Consumer states unintended acceleration the consumer stated the sudden acceleration occurred as she placed her foot on the accelerator after being stopped at a red light. The vehicle took off at a high rate of speed. The foot break did not work and when she grabbed the emergency brake, the vehicle went into a spin. The left front wheel slammed into the curb and the vehicle came to a halt.
