Unknown Or Other problem #1

Moonroof deflector shattered with a pop sound at speeds 55 with all windows closed. Later inspection that it was cracked around all the edges about 1/2 ~ 1 inches into the center.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

The plastic housing for the trunk release latch broke completly off when trying to open the hatch. The problem is that the latch is attached to the plastic housing and not the metal trunk. The service pers stated that the proper way to open the hatch is to grasp from the bottom lip and not the latch. This info isn't stated in the owners manual. The proper fix should be to modify the latch and attach directly to the metal part of the hatch.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

Multiple issues with transmission. Including sudden acceleration in reverse, rolling backwards at stop lights/signs, bucking/surging at low speed, gear slippage, excessive & unpredictable engine braking, hesitation to shift, hesitation & rough shifting upon re-acceleration, & shifter sticking in park.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

The trunk handle on my broke off. Scion refuses to accept responsibility for this design defect. My husband glued it down, but my concern is that if the piece breaks off or detaches it could cause damage to another vehicle or injury. Scion representatives said that it isn't a design flaw, but rather user error from failure to open the latch properly. This is not the case, as I am now even more careful now that the latch is glued on. Even now when I am overly cautious to open the latch correctly, it still gets stuck and I'm concerned it will break again. Now that I have had the incident happen, I have seen 4 other scions in various places that have their handle taped up, most likely due to the same reason. I find it hard to believe that scion believes it is the consumer who is at fault when it is clearly a flaw in the designs of their vehicle, and they refuse to correct the issue unless you have dropped hundreds of dollars with them at their dealership for oil changes or other services.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

All windows seals ( rubber ) are discolored . . . I had my car 7 years and every year the rubber around the front windshield side and back windows are all rotten. . Trying to see if Toyota can replace all frames. . Thanks.

Unknown Or Other problem #6

Left front fender liner came off (ripped off) while driving on the freeway.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

Driving down the highway at ~65 mph in 2005 Scion Tc with sunroof open and without warning the front air deflector shield shattered throwing glass into the passenger compartment. No other traffic was around that could have caused a thrown stone or anything else.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

Failure to hit unlock multiple times on keyless remote when accessing rear hatchback trunk will put undue stress on the poorly designed entry point. Even with using the unlock feature when the front passenger and driver doors are unlocked the trunk lid remains locked. Since this is such a poor design it has broken and the only way to replace is 800 repair bill for new part and have it painted. I have to point out that the hatchback is opened and accesed by an electric pressure point with keyless entry only, since this is a plastic part and is very weak, it only takes a few visits to the car wash or dealer to have someone attempt to open the hatchback with the car unlocked to wrench on this part and cause it to fail. Most modern vehicles have a trunk release button, or keyed entry which would prevent this obvious and common failure, its common because I have seen several Scion Tc's with this part hangin from the hatchback and blocking view of the vehicles license plate, which in most states is an offense and a safety violation.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

Was on a highway at about 60 mph. With a friend. All of a sudden, there was a huge explosion, nearly causing me to drive off the road. . . . Then glass started falling all around the car. Thankfully, the window screen blocked most of the glass from falling inside the car on top of us. . . . Though some did fall thru the cracks around the screen. Took to dealership where they are fixing. However, we could have been killed by this incident had the glass fallen in our eyes, blinded my driving, or severely cut us. This is a very big danger in my opinion.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Scion Tc. The contact noticed that the surface area on the instrument panel was uneven. He speculated that it was due to a design defect. The dealer stated that they were unaware of the issue and had no way of assessing the cause of the failure. The failure mileage was 24 and current mileage was 9,000.

Unknown Or Other problem #11

The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Scion Tc. The contact noticed that the top of the dashboard had uneven spots, which looked deformed. There were obvious high and low spots on the dashboard. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the service manager stated that they did not have another vehicle of its kind to compare the vehicle to or validate the failure; therefore, they considered it to be a normal issue. The contact believes that the dashboard needs to be corrected and should be the manufacturer's responsibility to repair since it is still under warranty. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 24 and current mileage was 9,000.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

Purchased my vehicle in March 2005. I have had it in the shop three (3) times for the moon roof. The moon roof rattles horribly and the dealership as taken the glass out and replaced it saying "that Toyota has done all that they know what to do with that particular situation". I find this unacceptable. I have also had my car in the shop five (5) times for the back hatch. The hatch makes a horrible rattle when just driving on regular roads. This problem is still unfixed. My paint as with the numerous other amounts of complaints is chipping and bubbling up. It horrifies me to read all of these complaints regarding this vehicle. I can only anticipate on what could happen next.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

Purchased new 2006 Scion Tc in October of 05. Since that time I have noticed chips, scratches and paint generally coming off the car all over the place. I drive on paved streets and in a moderate climate area (seattle). I feel cheated that a car less than one year old is having paint failure issues.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

I just bought a Scion Tc a month ago and was surprised by the paint dings caused by rocks. This in itself is not a surprise, but there is only one layer of paint between the top of the car and the primer. I have called scion support and have filed a complaint with them too. The dealership was of no help saying the rock dings are normal (I know that) and didn't mention anything of the quality of the paint, defect in the paint, or defect in the painting process. Any type of help would be appreciated to actually see if this is a problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #15

The sunroof deflector broke while driving with the sunroof open with no apparent reason, Toyota inspected and replaced the broken deflector and exactly six days later while driving in the rain the deflector shattered again on I-20 traveling at around 65mph, just above the speed traveled when the first incident occurred.

Unknown Or Other problem #16

After just four months the paint is chipping, flaking, scratching really bad.

Unknown Or Other problem #17

I purchased a silver Scion Tc in late July of this year, 2004. I noticed after less than two months of driving on regular suburban roads that there were several large chips on the front of my hood. Since July, more and more chips have formed and begun to peel and get larger. Even the bumper has chipped badly and there are several chips that actually stick out of the paint- as if they're bubbling. After waiting 2 months to see the "scion" district manager, he blew me off after 3 minutes of being rude and barely bothering to look closely at my chips. I believe there is a defect in the paint and that there are others that are having this problem with the scion brand.
