I own a 2006 Scion Xa. I have had to replace three of the electric window controls, and the emission system keeps having problems. Check engine light keeps going on. This happens when the vehicle is running, in motion and stationary.

3 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Toyota Scion Xa

Failure Date: 07/06/2015

Hello, I have already replaced three electrical motors for my 2006 Scion Xa. I see several other scion's on the recall for this. I would say my Scion Xa should be on as well. I have spent over $1,300 on these repairs, as well as other repairs.

4 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Toyota Scion Xa

Failure Date: 04/26/2015

The airbag light comes on after driving a few miles. Car taken to dealer and I was told it was the electrical cable inside the steering column that had "failed". This is the part that controls airbag deployment. I asked if the company (Toyota) would assist with the replacement, and was told "no. Some just fail. That's part of owning a car. " the part is on order, and the repair is going to cost $530 - $300 for the part, $100 labor and $130 for the diagnosis. All this for a part that "_failed_" this happened under normal driving conditions and I was _not_ in an accident of any sort, nor did I contribute to its failure. This part _failed_- wondering if the part is defective and what assistance Toyota will give me.

5 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Toyota Scion Xa

Failure Date: 09/24/2012

My power window master switch went out. I could not put my right rear window up. I went to my local Toyota dealer where I get my maintaince done and this was there assement. I see today on line that Toyota is recalling vecheles due to the power window switches malfunctioning! I checked and my model year is not on the recall. I find this a very odd coincidence I am having the exact same problem with my vechicle. I contacted scoin customer care and they said I was not part of the recall and my car was out of warrenty. Obviously this problem to me extends beyond the model years listed. What is my recourse. Thank you.

6 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Toyota Scion Xa

Failure Date: 01/10/2010

1. Started the car and the air bag light on the dashboard would not stop flashing. I bought the car new. The car never been in an accident, never had any damage and was properly maintained. Still under 60,000 miles and is under warranty. 2. It would flash non stop when the car was operating 3. Took the car to the dealer to see if they can resolve the issue. They found out that the wire under the passenger seat became loose. I was told that a water bottle under the seat could have caused the wire to disconnect, but before I checked the car in there was nothing under the seat. Apparently moving the seat back and forth can cause the wire to disconnect. I believe that this is a safety hazard in both cases. I feel that somebody should look into this. The dealer reconnected the wire and reset the system.

7 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Toyota Scion Xa

Failure Date: 06/15/2009

On June 15, 2009 I was parking my 2005 Toyota Scion Xa in my parking space at work. All of a sudden my car accelerated and the engine raced and took off over the bumper into the wall. I was unable to control the car because the brakes totally failed. When I pressed the brakes they just went all the way to the floorboard. My car is currently at the Toyota dealership. Luckily I was not hurt but my car is a mess. When I explained the incident to the dealership, they did not seem concerned and would check out the car after the body work is done and the car becomes drivable again. Thankfully I didn't involve any other vehicles and my grandchildren were not in the car with me. After reading of another incident with a Toyota tc, that incident far worse than mine, I felt I needed to let the public know that this is happening more often that not and just not someone mistaking the gas pedal for the brakes.

8 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Toyota Scion Xa

Failure Date: 04/02/2009

After my car, a 2006 Scion Xa, had sat in the parking lot all day at work, I drove about a block to a stop sign waiting to cross two lanes. It was cold and rainy that day. When I came to a stop, all of sudden there was a clunk from underneath that I heard and felt and was immediately followed by the car bucking, as if it was trying to leap ahead. I had my foot hard on the brake. It kept doing this every 5 seconds or so until I was able to make the turn. Clunk, leap clunk, leap. It was all I could do to control the car. It was dieseling really hard during all this. Once I made the turn and started driving, it settled down and it warmed up within four minutes and was fine again. I think I noticed the brake warning light while this was going on but I cant be sure about that. I didn't notice if the check engine came on. I was too busy trying to control the car to notice what else was happening. The next evening, after I had been parked for about an hour, I was able to start the car but it wouldn't shift. Finally after trying a few times, letting out the emergency brake, and starting it again, it shifted. There is definitely something not right with this vehicle, whether or not the codes say so. Perhaps theres something wrong with the code system. I took the car into my dealer for repair and though the codes didn't register anything amiss, one of their mechanics was Smart enough to recalibrate the ecm program which fixed the problem. This is similar to what I am reading about the Toyota recall problems, though not as severe. Scion is made by Toyota. It definitely was an electronic problem. The dealer reported this to Toyota last year when I brought it in for repair. This was a used car I purchased in November 2008.

9 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Toyota Scion Xa

Failure Date: 08/20/2005

On August 20, 2005 I was parking my scion tc 2005 in my driveway, when all of a sudden the car automatically accelerated. The car took off as if it were possessed. I tried to control the vehicle with my steering wheel, and avoided hitting my house and my basketball poll. Slamming the brakes didn't work, and eventually the car hit a tree in my backyard. I sustained multiple injuries, including chest contusion, and multiple fractures in my left hand. My daughter called 911, the police arrived and I was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. Since then I had two surgeries done, of which the outcome is pending. Since I am an emergency physician I am unable to work. I have notified Toyota scion personnel and they will inspect the car when the car is taken to a yard, since the car is totaled. A similar episode had happened with the same car involving my daughter when she was driving. The car suddenly took off on the bqe, and hit the median. At the time, I did not believe that something like this could happen. I recommend all scion tc's to be checked out for similar defects; so that injuries to others and death can be avoided.

10 Electrical System problem of the 2004 Toyota Scion Xa

Failure Date: 02/15/2005

While driving at 60 mph the car decreased in speed to about 20 mph. Called the dealer, and dealer urged consumer to turn the car off and restart it. Did that, but all indicator lights stayed on. The car drove normal from that point. Took the car back to the dealer, and they repaired this problem.
