The dealer diagnosed that the speed sensor, wire, hub, bearing assembly and rear axle would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 42,000. The current mileage was 46,000. The VIN was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Scion Xb. On two different occasions, while driving 60 mph, all of the instrument panel indicators (abs light, brake light, air bag light, traction control light) illuminated for approximately ten minutes. Afterwards, the vehicle restarted. On four occasions, the vehicle stalled. While idling at a traffic light or stop sign, the vehicle would sometimes vibrate and shake. The contact also stated that the vehicle burns a lot of fuel. The window sticker claimed that the vehicle would get 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The vehicle actually gets 15 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. On the fourth visit to the dealer, the contact was informed that the vehicle misfired on the second cylinder. When he researched the lemon law and went to arbitration, he was informed that, by law, gas is not a warranty factor due to changes in weather.
