Unknown Or Other problem #1

Went to put my grocries away after leaving the store. Lifted on the rear hatch handle and was suprised to find the trunk still closed and the handle still in my hand. Now my license plate lights and my handle to open the trunk are dangling from the rear of my car.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

The tailgate "handle" release broke of in my hands, without even pulling on it, on my 2005 Toyota Scion Xb. I went out to place something into the back of my car and when I pinched the release button and lifted the gate as I have done hundreds of times, the handle snapped off in my hands! after researching this issue I have found hundreds of people who have had the same experience, many have had this happen more than once! dealerships have even stated, "it is faulty part. " however, Toyota fails to issue a recall.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

For the 3rd time in 18 months the clutch pedal sticks making the vehicle not drivable. The linkage has broken, or according to Toyota service representative, dirt has collected underneath the cable which prevents the clutch from engaging properly. This seems to occur after the vehicle has been parked, but I dread it occurring in traffic or on the freeway. After the first occurrence, it did happen after I left the freeway from just having it repaired. Every incident requires a vehicle tow.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

A rock went thru my grille stright into the air condition compressor. Although not a safety issue, this same thing happened to my granddaughter who lives in another state. The repair costs are around $700. 00 I believe there are more of us out there and that the grille is an unsafe issue for my car.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

Defective brakes or related problem with 2008 Scion Xb model. When vehicle comes to a stop, a loud, low/downward pitched sound occurs and it feels like either the brakes are grinding or something related to the drive train is having a problem. This is an intermittent problem, but occurs most often after the car has sit idle for awhile. Toyota technicians drove the car for 2 days and said they experienced/heard the problem, but were not sure what it was or how to fix it. They lubed the front brake glide pins and adjusted shim pan and charged me $120 even though the car is under warranty. Unfortunately that did not fix the problem and I am worried that the car braking system may fail while I am driving the car.

Unknown Or Other problem #6

I was driving very slowly in a parking lot and had braked at a 3 way. I turned slowly with my foot gently on the gas pedal to go into a parking space and the car suddenly accelerated and went into the abutment of the parking space. I was able to brake.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

Jan 31, 2011 - 2006 Scion Xb with appx. 38,000 miles stalled on the freeway at 65 mph with no apparent cause. I was able to safely coast down an exit ramp and waited appx. 5 minutes before restarting the car. It performed perfectly after that. After looking into it on the internet and realizing that I am not the only one who has experienced this problem, I have now contacted the dealership and am awaiting a response. No corrective action has been taken to date.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

Sensor harness corrosion.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

Abs,parking brake, traction control, vertical stability lights came on and nose in the car. In same time completely disable abs and vertical stability systems. Lights disappeared later for a week and came back on. Over the time this cycle appears more frequently sometimes before lights appear I lost ability to brake a vehicle till I fully release a brake pedal. Brought to Toyota dealer they said I have to change 2 rear hub assembles, because of sensors, some corroded wires and computer. Their estimate was almost 15% of the price of band new car. I had to give my car to my relative who works for Volvo dealer. One of my rear wheel bearing were bad we replace with genuine Toyota part. While we repair we saw wire connection which goes to rear sensor were corroded and sensor connection were also corroded because of water damage which can leak though this type of connection. The hub we had replace of amount of corrode hub connection broke. New hub did not fix the problem so another sensor is also corrode even if the wheel bearing is good. One more thing the abs sensor is a part of hub assembly and could not be replace itself. I talk to Toyota representative and she said all those fixes are out my pocket. Even if I am original owner another problem I have the vehicle it locks itself. Before I thought kids playing with keys but few times happen when keys in my hand, I open the car and it keeps lock itself for quit amount of times. One time it locks with keys inside the car on 90 degree day with baby on board. No police were involved because inside the car was older child who can unlock the car manually.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Scion Xb. The vehicle was parked when the contact observed the vapor canister located above the rear axle failed, due moisture coming from the filler tube. The manufacturer and dealer stated there was no recall related to the failure or warranty. The failure mileage was 79,900.

Unknown Or Other problem #11

The car sustained a n l shaped crack in the windshield passenger side from no apparent impact . Clearly a design flaw and is likely to happen again according to how many people have complained about this .

Unknown Or Other problem #12

Jan 24 2006 I was driving to work (around 45 mph) in my 2006 Toyota scion and my windshield started to crack. I pulled over to see if it was cracking because of some type of impact (say a rock), or just looking to see what was happening. And at the time I did not see anything but the 6-7 inch cracking of my windshield. I came to work and asked other people to look and they did not see any type of debris damage. I called the Toyota dealer were I purchased it. . . And then told me to bring it in. Jan 25 2006 I took my Toyota in, and they informed me that the crack (and continuously cracking still today) was caused by impact of a stone (or something) and my warranty would not cover it. I explained that there was no way the windshield should crack like that, and if it was not a stress crack--then the windshield is defective. [I mean were the safety--what if I as in an accident]. They sent me on my way and recommended that I get it fixed. I asked if it was safe to drive and they told me yes. So I came to work. I was looking online. . . Only to discover that I am not alone. . . That this seems to be a problem with a lot of 2006 Toyota scions. . . And I found this web site.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

Hello to whom it may concern: this has happened twice first time it was fixed they (dealer) never explained just what they fixed, second it happened again both times it broke upon opening they(dealer) the second time wanted 285 bucks to repair it appears to be just simple clips that broke? this is clearly safety related for emergency exit if locks fail or airbags fail to deploy or even if the bags deploy the electrical component(s) may have a system failure and exiting out through the rear or even doing an emergency evac if there is a engine fire opening from the outside is more than likely not possible even if it's possible how about break ins? I have a question any mandates for repairs at dealer cost of the rear door latch handle and lock?.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

2005 Scion Xb windshield. Rock chips turn into huge cracks! I have never had a vehicle windshield do this. What would the point be in replacing it?! are there any recalls for these windshields?.

Unknown Or Other problem #15

Passenger side front seat belt (may apply to rear belts as well) retractor does not function properly. The belts appear to have a limit set on them that is too short for the vehicle configuration. A simple act such as leaning forward slightly in the passenger seat to open the glove box can cause the seat belt to limit up and begin it's lock down. It then begins to ratchet backwards and will not give in the forward direction at all. If the passenger leans back it tightens further, and becomes difficult to disengage from the latch mechanism. The only option if the limit is accidentally reached is to undo the seat belt, let it all the way back, and pull it out again. My wife and I often find ourselves having to do it while on the freeway or in other situations where the vehicle is in motion, because of the ratcheting action. This is completely unacceptable. The driver's belt is the only one that seems to function properly without this limit and ratchet back system. Driver's side has no issues for the same person doing actions that may reach even further than the passenger might normally do. Also, paint very easily chips and scratches. Leaning against the car too hard, or accidentally running a fingernail on it causes severe white scratches to appear on my dark red Scion Xb.
