In addition, the engine stalled. The vehicle was not able to restart. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the water pump barring failed and needed to be replaced. Leaking water pump. The pump starting leaking around 31,000 miles. It was a minor weap from the drain hole at the bottom of the pump at that time. At 40071 miles the pump needed to be replaced. Warranty on the xd had lapsed by four months. Toyota would not reimburse for repair.
